boldikus
So I posted on Playlands page last week asking if they could give us an update on the ride. They responded.
KBrylczyk
Any further update? Memorial Day weekend seems like something they don't want to miss. Twice.

michaellynn4
I don't know how much I buy that excuse. How can Casino Pier get a new coaster inspected and approved within a few days after it was completed, yet Playland has seemingly been waiting for its inspection for about a month now? This doesn't pass the smell test for me.

boldikus
Not exactly sure how we so quickly went from 'we're waiting on a date with the state' to 'this bitch opens in a half hour', but there you have it. GALE FORCE IS OPEN YALL!

KBrylczyk
Oh, holy crap! Maybe I'll shoot down there on Monday to give it a try. I'm gonna be in Mays Landing visiting family anyway.

This doesn't pass the smell test for me. My guess is that it's similar to the situation with Revel/TEN in AC compared to all of the other recent ownership changes in that town (namely Blastien's moves) - the right person isn't greasing the right palms. This is NJ, afterall.
Canobie Coaster
Glad to hear the park finally got this coaster open after all of the headaches. I'm interested to see reviews how it rides relative to the SkyRocket II in particular.
larrygator
And in related news for coaster whores (but unrelated to Ocean City), it appears that Fantasy Island Amusement Park on Ling Beach Island has removed their powered coaster and replaced it with a SBF Figure Eight spinner

Srosdude
Those restraints honestly look kinda ridiculous They're almost identical to the Free Spin restraints, and are very comfortable.

I don't doubt that but do the bars need to jut out that much?

KBrylczyk
^Not yet, from a comment on their Facebook page i think they said it will be sometime around July? Edit - To follow up on my earlier post, I didn't bother checking out the ride today. 60 degrees, overcast, and I didn't feel like fighting the traffic. I'll get to it sometime this summer but a $10 ride isn't worth a trip to OC alone.
sugart
Rode it last night. Very fun, rattles a lot but with the vests it was comfortable.

ytterbiumanalyst
Glad to hear it's open. A lot of companies blame government because it's easy to blame government. People buy the excuse without question, just like "it's for security reasons." I doubt the state had anything to do with it at all, but the park didn't want to admit the real problem. Very good news about the special $10 pass. I do want to ride this, but I have zero interest in anything else there.
