Thanks so much to everyone who has been reading along. The next day we went to Tobu Zoo since we had the chance to ride our first megalite. Tobu Zoo is a nice park and much larger than I expected. We didn't do much of the zoo area but from what I saw it looked nice. My new goal in life is to get a megalite built here. We went by Tokyo Dome City as well to ride Thunder Dolphin. The view and how interacts with the building is great. However, after riding the airtime filled megalite, Thunder Dolphin wasn't as exciting.

Thanks for reading. The next update is quite a doozie. Our day at Fuji-Q...was it bad, was it great or was it nothing like we expected?

  • 2 weeks later...

Before the trip, Laura and I went back and forth on going to Fuji-Q. Even up to the day, I was still hesitant due to the stories I've heard. We woke up early with the few others brave enough to go. We arrived right at park opening. Robb and Elissa gave us great advice. Mainly get there early, rush to your first ride, and get front of the line passes by the carousel before they sell out. So just how did our day go? Actually really good. Laura, Yin and I rushed to Dodonpa then I noticed Takabisha had a short line of only maybe 10. So we rode that, knocking out two of the big coasters in no time. We went to carousel and bought two front of the line passes. One for Eejanaika and Fujiyama. We started to ride the other coasters at the park while waiting for our time to ride those two. We were able to do all the coasters by noon. If it was just luck, I'll take it. The operations are bad and it rained for a while on us but overall our visit to the park was "tolerable".

Before we get to the photos, a few notes on the big coasters:

Dodonpa - Holy crap that launch is amazing. The rest of the ride rattle a little for me but that front row launch is worth it.

Takabisha - I liked the first half more than the big drop. Maybe because the first half was a surprise to me.

Eejanaika - This was a wild ride. I think its better than X2.

Fujiyama - This was the biggest surprise coaster for me on the trip. Yes, its a TOGO but its got some serious airtime. I loved it.

I really enjoyed Fujiyama.

Mt. Fuji from the bus. Thanks for reading and our next update: Cosmoworld and Sea Paradise

Man where does the time go? Anyways, this is a huge update. It's the most photos in one update so far. But also in the next update we will end up at Tokyo Disney Resort. So get excited for that but first let's talk about Cosmoworld and Sea Paradise.

Cosmoworld - The park had a lot of fun attractions. The Diving vanish coaster was cool to finally see in person. I had seen videos and photos of it on TPR for many years. A great park to spend a few hours at.

Sea Paradise - It started to rain lightly on us while at Sea Paradise but they still had all the attractions open. Fun drop tower, and the surf coaster was a lot of fun. In fact I heard some say it was their surprise favorite on the trip. From what I'm told, the new trains did wonders for the coaster. But the true highlight of the park is riding the boats with the Dolphins.

So in order to get our tickets for the rest of the day at Cosmoworld. We had to stay inside the cold for a few minutes. They actually kept the door shut on us. Its a TPR tradition.

Boats with dolphins. This was a super cool idea.

So you get a boat that's motorized. You have a time limit to go out and see the Dolphins swim nearby.

I attached a picture of the old trains from my last visit. It looks like you have a lot more freedom with the new ones. I agree Sea Paradise was a surprise highlight for me. I thought it would be one of those parks I visit once and then it hits the low priority pile on return visits but it always ends up being one of the highest for me when I go back to Japan. I need to visit Cosmoworld with TPR, on my last visit I ran out of momney after the two coasters, flume and big wheel. I'd love to see them one day get a one pay wristband.

Why in the world would I post photos from Taco Bell in Japan? Here in America its okay food and we have plenty of them. That's not the case in Japan. Before the trip, someone posted that Taco Bell recently reopen in Japan after being gone from the country for a while. They designed Taco Bell as more of a restaurant than a fast food place. Both Laura and I thought it was great. That same night we went to Tower Records. Yep, 7 floors of music and awesomeness.

The next day we all got on the bus to go to Joypolis. I thought the coaster was fun and unique. They need to update the graphics on some of the attractions. Their main issue is low capacity. The bus also took us to an empty fish market. Oh and we checked out the Emperor's castle on our way to Tokyo Disney Resort.

Mmm so good. Seriously, I was a little shocked how great Taco Bell was.

Music is life.

IMG_3348.thumb.JPG.81ded15540f33a537c5e9f467dc626cd.JPG

I found a DC comic book in Japanese.

IMG_3349.thumb.JPG.b23b7e7b24d2b2023a2ce7035dafdc3f.JPG

Who wishes we still had huge music stores in America?

IMG_3350.thumb.JPG.9e8c963114ec7cca34cffe3147c13bf9.JPG

Rocking out. I was caught dancing twice.

IMG_3352.thumb.JPG.c29d89f48644df02487c46ed20406201.JPG

I found Laura. I seriously lost her for a while. 7 floors of music and of course she's in the record section.

By the way, unlike DVDs. Music CDs will play anywhere.

Night snack. I found the hidden vending machines at our hotel in the bowling alley.

Its not a TPR tour with out a bus.

IMG_3364.thumb.JPG.08f431840cc9b1590bfeb315b12516c2.JPG

This is a cool area with lots of attractions. I wanted to check out the Lego center but you need a kid.

IMG_3365.thumb.JPG.d24555c2ddadab6f36b3c5478bcc5f77.JPG

Joypolis was nice enough to let us enter first which helped a lot with the low capacity rides.

IMG_3367.thumb.JPG.ef88e3fdcf2d60a392753972125b47e6.JPG

There is a coaster turn in this photo.

IMG_3368.thumb.JPG.ab1a9970f494a6004dc778ab5fe87d1a.JPG

It's a dark-shooter-launch-spinning-fun coaster. I probably missed something.

IMG_3371.thumb.JPG.c172846f6e07f6b466f905ee55b2965e.JPG

Racing simulators.

IMG_3374.thumb.JPG.7bcb1ecd5df2717fc6ecd8f713314d9b.JPG

The ride broke down while on it and so we got a re-ride.

IMG_3376.thumb.JPG.3691000d916c417b5de1670d51cce57d.JPG

This was like a bobsled game and if we timed it right, we spun the whole thing upside down.

IMG_3377.thumb.JPG.670564f0b50f682b7838a539c64e9e80.JPG

There was of course a line for the coaster so we decided to walk around the mall.

IMG_3378.thumb.JPG.699f2c1ac4e6319b6a578ef786cca61f.JPG

Oh I almost forget the best thing at Joypolis. Yes, that is a game over the urinal. I forced myself to pee twice.

IMG_3380.thumb.JPG.d2ba19bef5ffef57f87a0340ae1eae0f.JPG

So inside the mall, we found this store selling boxes that had random crap in it.

IMG_3383.thumb.JPG.8e32eb931511aae58fa5b1f7b9dbaadf.JPG

We of course took a chance. Some of the boxes had tickets in them meaning you won something cool.

IMG_3384.thumb.JPG.689a51b2d7de830b3dc2902a95597bf3.JPG

Ended up with more stuff to give to my nieces but it was fun to try our luck.

I don't have any photos of the fish market because there was nothing really going on. But here are a few of the Emperor's castle area.

We arrived to our Disney hotel. This was our view from the room for the next few days.

IMG_3396.thumb.JPG.bb110e1fb0703c04f9ef31a8413193e1.JPG

We decided to go eat at Ikspiari ( it's their version of Downtown Disney)

I miss this sign...ugh

IMG_3403.thumb.JPG.9889e0443ba23ac74f8fcdfa0af0981e.JPG

IMG_3405.thumb.JPG.253ef1da2af02860a559e2581b3b01a5.JPG

Mmm, I can still smell the pizza cooking. I like to add my recommendation for Pitta.

I went ahead and bought most of my gifts for family and friends.

We walked around Ikspiari.

Does anyone know if they sell this map somewhere? The next update will be Tokyo Disneyland.

Finally, we made it to Tokyo Disney Resort. This was one of the MAJOR reasons we went on this trip. We spent three days at the resort starting with Disneyland, then DisneySea and the last day was park hopping to both. Those of you who have been following along might remember we visited TDL on our first night in Japan. It helped our day out since we could focus on the rides we haven't rode. Of course, we first went to Pooh to get a fast pass. I really enjoyed TDL. The classic rides of TDL remind me as to why I enjoy this hobby. It seems the saying is true " you have to spend money to make money". This is true for the whole Tokyo Disney Resort.

We had time to spend and of course decided not to spend it wisely.

And now Tokyo DisneySea or the real reason we went to Japan. TDS is amazing and the theming is beyond anything I could of imagine. When I first walked into the park, I was in shock of the place. As we ventured deeper into the park, that shock never went away. Journey to the center of the Earth was tons of fun. I finally got to meet face to face with Lava Monster and Shiriki. Another great day was had at Tokyo Disney Resort. On to the photos since I have many.

So at least one of the Indiana Jones rides is great.

So later on in our day, the park seemed to be busier so we decided to ride StormRider.

IMG_3591.thumb.JPG.2b4118036fb856f3cfadc01e88d5a2c6.JPG

I thought the preshow was better than the ride. It will be interesting to see it as Finding Nemo.

IMG_3593.thumb.JPG.23d53edacae79788ca1e820d9305b50a.JPG

So we ran into a few people from the group and they all said nothing but good things about this ride. So we immediately walked over.

I still believe, that Tokyo Disney Sea is The Most Romantic Theme Park Ever,

for couples to visit, like yourself. Hope you got the vibe of the place, lol. And yes, that first

look at Mt.Prometheus as you enter through the archway...it's really breathtaking, especially

for your first time. Every visit I make there, the view still stops me, before I carry on through the park.

Glad you finally got to experience TDS. Now you have to save up and return, lol.

Like we're doing, for a 2017 visit.

Last day of our Tokyo Disney Resort and last Japan update. I hope you all have enjoyed reading about our amazing Japan trip. I'm ready to go back and definately will. I will have two more updates after this of my time spent at Laura's hometown Portland.

During our Japan trip, we accumalated a lot of coins. So our goal on the last day was to spend all leftover yen on the most important thing to Laura and I. That of course is FOOD!!! We also spent the last day hitting up our favorite rides at both parks and checking out more areas of the parks. It was a great day but also a sad one as we knew our Japan trip was over.

IMG_3622.thumb.JPG.749ad2058185aa2f68959b6c677e7ab3.JPG

This was my favorite flavor of popcorn.

IMG_3623.thumb.JPG.38f5ccbaf81851f9a46ca59722830bba.JPG

If you don't know, Tokyo Disney popcorn is very popular and has different flavors.

IMG_3624.thumb.JPG.af5141cb45ce28e4dd495d6c1763324d.JPG

We of course had the ride the carousel to start our day.

IMG_3625.thumb.JPG.4e5f4034f9a71f31945bfc5a14f7de52.JPG

I'm Laura's Prince

IMG_3627.thumb.JPG.809d09cbbb19a80f42de1f29f6cd7a96.JPG

Seriously, this ride gets better with each ride.

IMG_3628.thumb.JPG.2c42ea14b2abed4a3d11c346841df74c.JPG

Home of Duffy. I remember seeing Duffy the first time at EPCOT and had no clue who he was.

IMG_3629.thumb.JPG.d99f331a18b2e6a009afb84a2e7ba715.JPG

So we thought, we had saw all of DisneySea but then we found this area.

IMG_3630.thumb.JPG.1cd30ea6390ce6ddca3b67659830a773.JPG

This area was so relaxing compared to the other areas can be packed.

IMG_3635.thumb.JPG.4f81eaf33ab670c63763730f82f1050f.JPG

I'm glad we didn't miss this area.

Another beautiful day at the park. I believe it rained the day we left Japan.

IMG_3637.thumb.JPG.a42d422a8b65101d5575f774bc2035b7.JPG

So I took this, thinking cool statue. Not knowing that added Duffy to the statue.

Back to riding our favorites. We got our fast pass for Tower.

IMG_3639.thumb.JPG.c6d75fc457953ea8e01bb7a2be02830b.JPG

So we were walking by and decided to see if ToyStory Mania was a short line. It must of just reopen or something because the line was only 20 minutes.

So we got in line for Jungle Cruise and about 5 minutes later it broke down. We figure we wait but they cleared the whole line out and gave us a priority ticket for any attraction at either park. Not to shabby.

One last ride at Disneyland.

IMG_3683.thumb.JPG.ad4717c2118db66cfce9a5810ead8996.JPG

We watched Fantasmic! then rode Journey twice using our priority ticket before the park closed. Great way to finish out.

So when we came back from Japan, I stayed with Laura for a few days near Portland. We decided to skip our connection back to San Diego and took a bus from Seattle to Portland. That saved us 6 hours more of travel time. We of course visited both parks near Portland while I was there. First up was Oaks Park. A small and kind of shady park. I hear the park has a lot of history. Our visit was quick since we had a music festival to get to.

IMG_3696.thumb.JPG.a3b0157d5f8e95eca29ddc3320881171.JPG

Oaks Park was fun for a few hours.

IMG_3697.thumb.JPG.e982e51a5705139f532e8bc2cfcae082.JPG

Now I know why Laura is happy to come here.

IMG_3707.thumb.JPG.01f644c4a4afafde602d7a16a334d615.JPG

I spend to much money on these.

IMG_3708.thumb.JPG.0c483d0e785f36e3c6e595f92f8cabd4.JPG

Kind of has a small carnival feel. The employees were very nice and friendly.

Thanks to everyone who has been reading along. I definitely enjoyed posting about our trip. I can't wait to go back to Japan. In case you missed anything, go here for links to my whole trip report.

With that said, here's my last update from Portland and last update for this trip report. Took me long enough to finish it. I knew very little of Enchanted Forest. I had seen some photos and heard the Humpty Dumpty statue took a great fall. The park is bizarre and I loved it.

Great TR of "After Japan"! I think Enchanted Forest is one great little theme park that's a nice Oregon secret.

I always try and get to it, if I am down Portland-way. And that bobsled coaster is really something!

I also think Oaks Park needs a real shake up in terms of new rides, maybe a new woodie like you suggested,

but of course keeping the ROCK-O-PLANE, by all means possible!

Thanks for sharing all of your trip!
