thrillrider
So this year after a 8 year hiatus, we decided to get back to holiday world. What better way to visit the park than to go during hollywood nights. I got to be honest, I was blown away not only by the parks new thunderbird coaster, but by the parks staff and cleanliness of the entire park as well. Thunderbird surpassed all my expitations. The theming, launch, and total ride experience were great. The park staff was beyond friendly. I would venture to say that some Disney employees could take note. The event went off without a hitch, and we had boat loads of ert. The voyage, raven, and thunderbird were running great. The legend beat the crap out of me and I still have a sore back from riding it only one time. As for the mid course breaks on voyage, I did not notice any difference in the ride from when they were off. It was kind of a welcome thing as it gave you time to catch your breath. The voyage was being a little moody on saturday night, and kept stopping at the top of the lift hill. A few maintainance guys came out and added some oil to the lift hill motor and all was good after that. The only downside to the event was a few of the enthusests. None were from TPR, but rather another "large" coaster club. One of them got walked out for his behavior. Another one was yelling at a park employee because the pirate boat was not open during ert. They had 1 employee switching between 2 of the flat rides, and this enthusest was upset about this. I just can't understand some people, and this is the type of thing that gives enthusestes a bad name. Anyway, it was a great event, and I hope to attend again in the future....onto the pictures. On our way down to holiday world, I passed this sign. We also passed the original hall of justace. And words cannot explain this sign. The view of the park from the road. Thunderbird really changes the look We made it! We picked up our swag at the front gate. Christmas was the first area of the park, so of course santa has to be part of that. This is yet another reason why this park rocks! Free sunscreen Onto thanksgiving The gobbler getaway dark ride. This is whats left of the pilgrms plunge water ride. I wonder what they are going to do with this area. Looks like they still have the boats for the ride. And then there was this.... The theming for this ride is on par with other parks like dollywood. Random sign in the line Choices...... This ride has two 5 row trains. Looks like they are still using the generators. The whole new area looks great Now let's check this thing out The voyage is a crazy great ride This ride has lots of airtime I really did not get any pictures of the legend other than this. The park put out a very impressive buffet for our lunch. The pulled pork was killer. Lots of sweets as well This years theme was from the back to the future movie I lied.....I do have another shot of legend. The raven coaster was running great. It is now one of my favorate woodies. A night ride is a must. The park has a good selection of other rides as well The park also has a coaster for the kiddies. The park has added a new food option this year. The smokehouse has bbq, chicken fried steak and many other goodies. They even have there own brand of BBQ sauce. The park also has a fairytail train ride, complete with freaky fairytail things. Part 2 of the pictures are coming soon! Edited June 2, 2015 by thrillrider

thrillrider
Part 2...... I have always heard great thing about the water park here and was going to check it out, but mother nature had other ideas. From what I saw of the water park, it looked very nice. The only water attraction I was able to get on was mammoth and it was great. Did I mention that voyage was running great? I was loving me some thunderbird. I was not expecting much from this ride, but I was waaaaay off. This ride was a blast. The lay of the land The line for food was anything but short This was kinda cool, as you really can't see much of the rides layout from the park. You have to love a park that has free, unlimited softdrinks. Random thunderbird theming. We had a snack inside thanksgiving(can't remember the name of the restaurant). Here are a few up close shots of the new area next to thunderbird. Someone said that this fountain had something to do with Disney. Anybody know about this? Holidog express Not sure exactly what's going on here. Thunderbird rules. I don't know why, but of love this shot. They have lot's of rides for the kiddies. One last look back at thunderbirds station. It's a long way to the top, if you wanna ride the voyage. Some of the parks entertainment. That's it from Holiday world. On our way back home, we swung by kings island to check out the new petting farm and circus show(and a quick beast ride). My son was loving the animals in the petting farm. This shot is TPR approved. Short wait for the beast $400 for a bottle of pop king island?...really???? Perhaps the park needs to take notes from Holiday world. Yes please! Our last stop at kings island was the circus cirqe show. Is was a lot of fun to watch. Great show, I recommend checking it out. On the way out of the kings island parking lot, we noticed a small graveyard next to the lot. That's it for this trip report. I leave you with a shot of one of the last standing buildings of the kings island inn.

Woodie Warrior
The fountain you mentioned is the Applause Award given out by Liseberg amusement park. It's given out to parks whose "management, operations and creative accomplishments have inspired the industry with their foresight, originality and sound business development". Holiday World recieved it in 2004. Nice trip report!
thrillrider
Thanks for that info. Not sure where the Disney thing fits into that.
Woodie Warrior
Thanks for that info. Not sure where the Disney thing fits into that. I believe Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disneyland have all been recipients, so maybe that's what they were talking about.
michaellynn4
Great report! Hugely disappointing that there are actually enthusiasts out there who would even think about behaving that way PERIOD, let alone at an event where the park is CATERING to them. You've got to be a special kind of jackass to stoop that low. SMH.
