thrillrider
This year we were able to attend the media event for rougarou and opening weekend at cedarpoint. I really don't like to write up huge trip reports, so I will simplify this with pictures and key points. The good..... 1.Rougarou was great...huge improvement and very forceful coaster 2.Sweet spot had lot's of goodies 3.Hotel breakers is looking good 4.Lakeside pavilion looks wonderful 5. Millennium force is now sporting fiberglass trains. 6. Mavericks new restraints are a big improvement. 7. The park has added more coke freestyle machines 8. The staff seems really friendly this year The bad.... 1.It was very obvious that the park was not ready to open. 2 Wicked twister was in pieces still 3.Lots of rides never opened, or if they did it was late. 4. Tiki twirl never opened. 5. 3/4 of the pools at hotel breakers did not open because they accidently put too many chemicals into them. This is from a company that operates several waterparks and hotels with pools. 6. A lot of prices and menus were from last year and not updated. Onto the pictures.... We started the day at 5am for the media preview. Rougarou has a few effects like fog and sounds coming from the swamp A look at the line A few random shots of the ride Media alley Big boy seats Now let's take a looksie at the new and fresh hotel breakers. Lobby and check in area Inside our suite The new lakeside pavilion area looks amazing The line at the beach gate waiting to get into the park on opening day. Inside the park pictures and much more coming up in about an hour. Edited May 11, 2015 by robbalvey
MagnumFreak25
So who's the idiot who put to much chlorine in the pool... Hope they gave him the boot. Anyway, do the new millennium trains do anything.
CPFan1234
Don't the pools not open up until memorial day anyways?
DoinItForTheFame
Nice photos! Glad to hear that Rougarou is a great improvement. (Although, we already knew it would be!) Looks like some nice changes at the park for this season! Can't wait to see what the future holds! Thanks for sharing! Getting me super excited for our visit this summer!! DirkFunk
Don't the pools not open up until memorial day anyways? The pools are open every day the hotels are. I've seen lifeguards sitting out watching completely empty pools and beach when it is 40 degrees out and raining in early November.
thrillrider
Onto the park we go..... First stop was the bathroom, and I ran into this... This area looks empty for the time being. Somethings going on here Lots of markings on the ground. The old dodgem and theater area are fenced in And this is the turnpike car area They have a wall in place near blue streak All that remains of the turnpike cars is the station The park was full of closed rides this weekend, including this. The newish midway This is new This is a beaver tail Longer line for the dodgems Maxair also has a longer line The new sweet spot A ride on wicked twister anyone? Not gonna happen anytime soon There were quite a few of these signs at the park this weekend Millennium force now has fiberglass trains instead of the aluminum And maverick has new otsr's as well. sorry shooting gallery lovers, coke has now taken over that location See....no more shooting gallery I think this is new as well. I wanted to check this show out, but it don't start for another 5 months The overflow line behind magnum has been removed More pictures coming soon... It's interesting to see the coaster like that. I've always wondered how they got the train on and off the track for the off season.

thrillrider
Great TR! Did you get to sample the RougaBrew or the Coke Freestlye mix? Yes and yes. The rouga brew is great. It reminded me of blue moon with a hint of orange in it.
boldikus
Thanks for posting these, great photos. I can't wait to get to this park!!! Less than 2 weeks to go for me
805Andrew
Nice pictures. That's cool that Cedar Point has its own exclusive beer. More parks should work with local breweries for exclusive beers. I'd order a beer in a park if I knew I couldn't get it anywhere else.

That's one of the reasons I love the Springfield expansions at the Universal Parks, It's so cool to be able to get an actual Duff beer
thrillrider
As promised, here are some more pictures. I would recommend this beer, as it was very good. The new quaker steak and lube. We ate there and really enjoyed the wings. They also have rougarou beer. The lights on the midway that they installed a few years ago really look good at night. The location of the new coke freestyle machines. The petting farm animals were out. Mine ride Opening day =lots of problems Even rougarou was having issues Pinks is now included on the dinning plan, and as you can see it was very popular. In case you were wondering how much a hot dog cost's at pinks, wonder no more. Middle of the day rainstorm cleared out the park. This is the midway after the rain storm. The rides that were open were now a walk on. Millennium at night The giant wheel all lit up The country music show was in rehersal Sneek peek for all you country music lovers With the exception of 3 rides on this list, there is never really a long line for these attractions. The ice cream shop up in the front of the park carry the rougarou ice cream. I would highly recommend it. We went back into the sweet spot and they were making fudge. You can walk right into the sweet spot from the snoopy gift shop. Speaking of the snoopy gift shop, this is the last remains of the beirinstain bears. Back over at millennium force, there were still parts lying on the ground. Still my favorate ride in the park. I am glad that they are finnaly giving pass holders more discounts in the park. Rougarou drink? Dragster Lake erie eagles $6.29 for a slice of pizza Another great deal... Even though I can buy a 3 "cases" of this water for $10. They also want $4 for a bottle of soda this year as well. My son's first ride. He loved it! Outside of the park near castaway bay, the park has a off property maintnance shop. Merry go round A night shot of rougarou and power tower. I am going to end this report with a great shot of my son and wife on a ride.
CPFan1234
Nice pics. They really changed the look of that new wing place. Looks nothing like Friday's did and must say it's quite an eye sore. Looks a lot like Disaster Transport!

Looks a lot like Disaster Transport! The food was great, but it seemed like they skimped on the building. The inside looks like tgif took down all the pictures from the wall, and the new place put some of there own up. They even had holes from the old pictures all over the walls. 805Andrew
I'm surprised that the Rougabrew is in glass bottles in the park, I'd thought it would be on draft. Also Quaker Steak & Lube is a horrible name for a restaurant - I guess its a chain in the Northeast, but why they have "Lube" in the name is beyond me. They do have it on draft in the park and other locations. The bottles were more for display purposes. It looks like you can buy the bottles of the beer in Cleveland where it is brewed. Check out the brewery website here..... http://www.thebrewkettle.com/ The "lube" part of the name is from the term "getting lubed" I believe as they have a bar as well. The chain started out as a repair garage/ gas station and they opened a food stand next to the garage that really took off.
