Very excited for more details! Never been to either park and this would be my first TPR event. Might be going alone. Has anyone been to one of these events solo?

Never been to a TPR event either, might be solo on this one. Possibly will have a friend at SFMM but probably solo at KBF.

Always welcome to hang with us

Definitely, I look forward to meeting everyone that I've talked to on here for several years! Some day I hope to be able to go to one of the longer trips, preferably in Asia..the timing has been historically bad for me.

Yup! Hoping to meet even more TPRers.

Also, since "LA" is a huge place, any suggestions on towns to look for in regards to hotels?

Last time I stayed in Hermosa Beach which was nice but a decent haul to the park. Ideally a place closer?

The hotels will be easy to find but I got no clue where to start for cities. Suggestions appreciated!

Actually there are some very decent hotels right next to the parks. The Hilton Garden Inn is right across the street, I've stayed there numerous times and it's extremely convenient. If you're the active type, it's practically walking distance and it's handy if you want to take a break mid day and eat lunch in your room and take a nap and come back. A Best Western is also there right next to it. I haven't stayed there but friends who have have said good things.

There's also a Courtyard down the street which I've stayed at and was nice and an Embassy suites right next to it. These are less than a 5 minute drive from SFMM.

For KBF, I'd have to recommend of course the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel which is next door. Can't get more convenient than that, and you get discounts if you're a Cedar Fair Platinum Pass holder. I stayed there last summer and the staff was surprisingly friendly.

^^^ I always stay at the courtyard. And then the Knotts hotel. Suggestion, stay by Six flags Friday night. Then Knotts Saturday and Sunday as it usually gets out real late Saturday night. Then an hour drive, with an early morning at Knotts. It's nice to sleep in as late as possible

All these Twisted Colossus reports are really getting me excited for WCB. I can't imagine it not being included in ERT, and it would be really nice if they did something a little extra like making sure we double-duel. A couple people have suggested something like a glow session a la Phoenix, but that would really be above and beyond. I'm not sure the park would feel safe doing that on this particular coaster. Would still be cool do do it elsewhere on the park though, that would make Apocalypse ERT more appealing than usual

All I'm really hoping for is that we get an hour or two of ERT on Twisted Colossus and YOLO, which I think is fair to say is very likely. Anything else is total gravy.

Can't wait for tickets to go on sale so I can finalize plans and really start counting down the days!!

For those that are starting to plan their budgets for this trip, in years past how much were the tickets cost for WCB? And what if you have a season pass to Six Flags or Knott's, does that lower the cost? Just trying get a sense of a budget to plan for. Thanks.

Here is last year's info:

Club TPR Member rates:

Knott's Berry Farm Season Pass Holder - $38

Non-Season Pass Holder (adults) - $65

Non-Season Pass Holder (kids 3-11) - $52

Non Club TPR Member rates:

Knott's Berry Farm Season Pass Holder - $43

Non-Season Pass Holder (adults) - $70

Non-Season Pass Holder (kids 3-11) - $57

Pricing includes the Knott's WCB event T-Shirt!

2014 SFMM Ticket Prices

Club TPR Member rates:

Six Flags Season Pass Holder - $54

Non-Season Pass Holder - $64

Non Club TPR Member rates:

I'm looking at previous years now, it looks like the prices have just gone up slightly each year or so, as everything does. Still a hell of a deal for everything you get.

The price of Knotts is also pretty high, considering it's a smaller park has less to offer, which is why I didn't go last time but everyone assures me it is worth it, and they really knock the pants off SFMM (granted that may not be hard to do) I'm still torn if I'll do knotts or not, could spend the day in LA or go down to San Diego.

Though Knott's has less coasters, in the last few years their WCB extras have included Backstage Tours and Q&As that SFMM did not offer..I havent gone before but I've heard from those that did that the Knott's day has been much more fun than SFMM in recent years.

KBF, in my opinion, is just a more enjoyable day altogether if you care about anything other than coasters and ERT.

Well that's what I was wondering, if other backstage or fun things are offered. I will probably end up going anyway just because I'm there and I'm sure it'll be an awesome time.

I really want to try to go to this. It's been about five years since I've attended a WCB. I remember seeing you guys backstage at Knott's last year while I was working, it made me feel sad that I wasn't a part of the fun. I definitely miss all of the ERT.

Those prices aren't bad. The majority of the expense will be the hotels and just getting there. I plan on staying at the Hilton by SFMM for two nights and driving down to KBF early Sunday morning. Looking forward to this as this will be my first TPR event.

You should do the Knott's day if you are already coming down for Magic Mountain, especially if you have never been to Knotts before. There's plenty to do for a first timer. Xcelerator is like a compact Kingda Ka with shorter lines (and no lines during ERT) and Montezooma's Revenge is a really fun classic launched shuttle looper. Timber Mountain Log Ride is also a really great themed log flume, second to only Splash Mountain. Also the lunch included is really good and filling for a theme park with Knott's Fried Chicken and a bunch of sides and desserts (including boysenberry pie). There might also be TPR Quest at lunch which is really fun.

Against my better judgement, I just cashed in some reward miles for a flight to LA and back. I'm still undecided if I'll go, because that's a huge football weekend for me. Big rivalry for my college team, and the NFL starts that weekend. I'll be damned if Twisted Colossus doesn't look amazing, though.

Honestly, KBF will be up to my friends in LA and San Diego, if they are around (one is in military) I may have to chill with one of them, but if neither is free Knotts it is! I'm leaning towards it anyway just because, what type of enthusiast can turn down the creds/new park? We shall see, though all the stuff you guys mentioned does sound wonderful.

Can we ride Speedy Gonzales Hot Rod Racers together?

Xcelerator is definitely worth it, especially for someone who has I think done KK and TTD, you'll love it. You launch from right in the station and then do more than just go up and down like most of the other accelerator coasters.

Indeed I have and they're not really worth it, though I have Stormrunner for my accelerator needs

I'll surely cave, I can't resist new creds and parks

Montezooma's Revenge and Pony Express also launch you out of the station, so you have three launch coasters at Knott's, and two of those three launches are intense.

I'd prefer it if you didn't make eye contact with me that weekend.
