Europapark: Let it snow!

Recommended Posts

Those who've seen my topic with the evening winter pictures of Europapark would know that the winter season in Europapark is very special.

But if there is snow, the winter season is really awesome.

So, for three years there was no possibility to take snow-pictures in Europapark, because for three years there was no snow in southern germany.

But the last few days, the weather was very "winterly". And so I made some nice pictures of the snowy Europapark.

So, just lean back, take a cup of tea, and enjoy the pictures of Europapark:

You took some really nice shots, especially ones with plants and some coaster track in them.

I would love to be able to go to a park like Europa over the winter time.

Even if I didn't ride anything, just strolling around there, would be wonderful.

Thank you for sharing your visit there.

Fantastic pictures, its really awesome how Europa Park is open in the winter and even have several of the coasters operating. I also love the snow on the footpaths, I can imagine quite a lot of parks (particularly on the other side of the atlantic) closing all footpaths with snow on them due to being "unsafe".

I have been twisting my brain lately to determine where to go next year as I will not have the cash for any long-duration trips, but I feel more and more that I really need to take a flight to southern Germany and visit Europa Park as it looks absolutely incredible!

Absolutely beautiful. It must be quite hard to get the coasters up and running because I guess they have to clear the snow because otherwise it'd jam up in the wheels I guess? I also love the fact Wodan's gate actually closes and isn't decorative. A lot of parks would just put a bit of rope or a rubbish bin across the queue line entrance!

Yeah, the employees had a lot of work to do for getting the coasters started.

Only Blue Fire and Wodan couldn't run during the days. They took away the snow from the Wodan track part for part, but they didn't run a train. I think they weren't sure if the train runs through the track or not.

At Euromir and Arthur a few trains were used to put away the snow. It was very nice to see a Euromir train running through the track and disperses the snow.

That would have been a very cool video to see, with the snow flying off the tracks when the train flew over them.

I was at Europa-Park over the New Year and it was quite astounding just how they managed to get rollercoasters open...

30th December AM - heavy snow and only Eurosat was operating. However, by late afternoon both Pegasus and Matterhorn Blitz opened.

31st December - Euro-Mir had technicians on the track working at 90' with brushes - snow was falling off several of the MCBRs. The ride opened around 1pm. Arthur also opened shortly after and so did Alpenexpress.

1st January - Same line up as 31st - although temperatures peaked at around 0C and were negative Celsius for a lot of the day.

2nd January - somehow, even with the cold and snow remaining around the park, Wodan opened early in the afternoon!

Most parks just wouldn't have bothered even TRYING to get coasters operating in freezing and snowy conditions! The vast majority of other rides were open as expected.

Kudos, EP!

What luck that a friend of mine filmed at Euromir and Arthur

And he allowed me to show you his videos ... so here they are ... have fun:
