It takes me wonder what do you think of Manhattan Express's Smoothness/Painfulness.

That because some people say, that it is the roughest coaster, and other people say, that it isn't so rough and it is fun![youtu_be]

Manhattan Express is a frustrating ride because it could be a really good ride, but its the restraints that make it so painful. It'd be great if they switched it to lap bars only. And even if they switched it to ordinary OTSRs, it wouldn't be any worse than your average SLC. But with the current restraints Manhattan Express have, they're located right against your neck. So what would normally be your head hitting the sides of the restraint is actually your neck on Manhattan Express. And your neck is much more sensitive than your head because you don't have a thick skull protecting you. So what would be tolerable headbanging on a normal coaster is now excruciatingly painful neckbanging.

Rode it again in February and it was *slightly* better than the original video we did in 2004, but still the ride is easily one of the worst in the world. I've been on plenty of Togo coasters in Japan that are actually quite good, so I'm not sure if it's a communication issue between the Japanese and the American builders, no idea. All I know is that the ride rattles your head apart as you're going down STRAIGHT TRACK!!! I have no idea how the ride manages to do this, but it's truly an engineering marvel!

I've probably been on it about 10 times since its opening year and I've never had even close to what I would consider a "good" ride on it. I'd say my only positive experiences on the ride were the few times I didn't have to pay for it.

Here is the video from our ride in February:

Sorry, but how can anyone vote this ride is "Super Smooth"?

as this is the closest coaster to my house, I've been on this thing... WAY too many times.... even when it first opened, it was bumpy as hell... (yes, a lot worse now, but I also have never had a smooth ride)...

I say NYNY needs to tear it down, and hire a different company to design something new that could fit in there.... hell, i'd even say keep the same layout and i would be happy..

It's like being in a trashcan thrown down a hill, while the trashcan contains a bunch of rusty knives and nailes. Know imagine you have to pay 17 bucks for it

17 bucks...is that how much it is now...JIMMINY CRICKET. I rode it once, but never again...especially not at that price. And I never noticed how bad that turn looks after the dive loop before the hill into the brake run. Good night, that looks like one of those Chinese knock-off coaster turns.

Whaat?!? 17 Bucks?!? In summer 2013 we had to pay 14$ for one ride, 7$ for a 2nd ride and I think 25$ for an all day pass.

Wait, people actually, willingly give up more money to ride it all day?

Will they call an ambulance for you if you choose the all day pass?

I remember riding this back in the first year or two that it was open and it didn't seem nearly as bad as what is shown in the videos - it sounds/looks like it has degraded horribly.

I believe that it was $9 or $10 to ride back then so the price has went over double for what looks to be an even worse ride. I still recall getting off it thinking "Meh" and I did not have a lot of coaster credits that far back in the day.

I have been back to Vegas four or five times since then and have had no desire to ride it again. If they were smart, they would tear it down and put either a B&M hyper in it's place or an Intamin Mega-Lite. I think I know what most on here would prefer though (including myself)!

I think Manhattan Express is okay. I really liked to ride it.

And it's not that bad. If you have ever been on Bandit or Movie Park Express in Movie Park Bottrop, than Manhattan Express is really smooth.

On Bandit I always got a bad headache, but on Manhattan Express I didn't.

I didn't find it rough. It was a little disappointing. You see the casino from all its ugliest angles. The drop is OK. The funky TOGO inversion section is on the building roof and slow and small due to lost momentum. The ride through part of the casino is good but over quick. Decent coaster if it were in a group of coasters, but it's not. Speed The Ride was more fun.

These were my thoughts while riding:

First drop: Tame, not too bad

Turn at the bottom: slams you to the right a bit

Second drop: Actually pretty fun. Gives a good pop of air

Third drop: OWOWOWOW What the hell is this doing to me!?

Loop: I'M GETTING SHAKEN TO DEATH!

Entrance to dive loop: This is actually a pretty cool feature. I hope the dive underneath it is smooth.

Exit of the dive loop: PLEASE GET ME OFF!

MCBR: Thank you for the break!

Following two drops: These are completely uneventful. At least these are not painful

Big sweeping turn: Slams your head to the left while entering it, but overall slow.

Final airtime hills and helix: A bit rough, but I can live with these.

It is really like anything else in Vegas: Disgustingly overpriced, fun in parts but overall not a great experience.

I rode once on my trip to Vegas, and it was worth it once for the credit. I rode for half price, beig a Nevada resident, but I still would not pay for it again. But, I am not saying this as a frequent visitor, because I pretty much grew up in Nevada, and I did not ever go to Vegas until I turned 17. I also have not gone since, so if my neck hurt at that age, I would be afraid to ride in another ten years.

It was better than Viper at gadv. I learned the proper technique for Viper, basically strong bracing. So Manhattan Express was moderately enjoyable.

Viper was another TOGO engineering marvel. The last turn banked and turned left, then went straight maintaining the baking and went upwards slamming your head into the restraint. It was like getting body slammed by a coaster.

That being said, when can RMC start converting steel coasters?

Let's put it this way: I'd ride it again, but I wouldn't pay to ride it again. I've ridden the coaster at least a half-dozen times on various trips and have found it to be comparable to the average boomerang...rough, but not intolerable. The biggest problem is the restraints give neck chops instead of headbanging, which is way more painful. It is my favorite Togo (not that there's much competition outside of Japan), but is still just an okay ride (probably the worst Nevada coaster) and not worth $14 if you have the credit.

I'm not sure if it's the "worst coaster" either, but it's right up there. Off the top of my head, IMO, it's right there along side Goudurix, Hades 360, Son of Beast, the original Outer Limits with the OTSR's, etc as one of the roughest, most uncomfortable, rattley rides I've ever been on. And it's been this way every time I've ridden it.
