Photo TR: A Very MerryTime Sailing on the Disney Dream

Recommended Posts

Just a few weeks ago I had the chance to sail once again aboard the beautiful Disney Dream, this time for my first four night sailing. Also unique to any sailing I had had previously was the Very MerryTime Sailing element of this cruise, with extra holiday entertainment, decor and food to make the cruise extra special!

001.thumb.JPG.6c38932275af3ce99d65860691d4f0c9.JPG

There she is!

002.thumb.JPG.b05ca7d2e01dea9a9e184585458ab57e.JPG

Our first stop on the cruise (seriously, we got to our room and got prepped for this) was Palo!

003.thumb.JPG.3005b19d9c962c9ff1b1c575ab0f45e2.JPG

The BEST portobello mushroom dish ever is served with creamy polenta and a really amazing balsamic sauce.

004.thumb.JPG.11d39103a4c5acfb8e756b5f623848ef.JPG

The best potato gnocchi I've ever had.

005.thumb.JPG.506e335fdb9cb673c02c5612bba7f3c2.JPG

Fun fact: The end-of-meal Calvados/Apple Brandy/Lemon Sorbet shot from Palo can be turned into a full frozen cocktail from the Palo bar, if requested! And it is heavenly!

006.thumb.JPG.e850c35dc43e741399733868cf0ffa82.JPG

Skipped out on my normal Palo Tenderloin in favor of the highly recommended Osso Bucco. This thing was hearty and super-filling, and the bone marrow was the best I've ever had!

007.thumb.JPG.caac627b77ff5938903d45f807a880ba.JPG

Skipped the Chocolate Soufflé to try the Chocolate Amaretto

008.thumb.JPG.22fb3a8545728db46f48bb1fef8271bb.JPG

Still my favorite piece of art on the ship!

As one of the Very MerryTime Sailing features added for the cruise, a giant gingerbread house was assembled in one corner of the Atrium.

010.thumb.JPG.8c4926486d2b754cc60e5891a93871a9.JPG

On the first and last nights of the sailing hot chocolate and cookies were available for guests to enjoy.

011.thumb.JPG.2f936bcee9c66ac172fc9ef78e34cf06.JPG

The Atrium really looks amazing with all of the holiday decor!

Just hanging out with Stitch...

013.thumb.JPG.c8f7fbdfc7edb3e6de5895e96b2f0c4b.JPG

Another new offering was Santa's Winter Wonderland Ball in the Atrium of the ship.

014.thumb.JPG.649b7c6e39683177ebef859fc47f40ad.JPG

Do you want to build a snowman?

015.thumb.JPG.0e88702cbf7dca049bef9fe939262632.JPG

Santa even made an appearance!

016.thumb.JPG.09f5b2fa501f44794cf77f079a36afd2.JPG

And then it magically began to snow!

017.thumb.JPG.f3be5edcdcb858b371377951a9960c29.JPG

Donald was loving it!

018.thumb.JPG.b5b70ba5d93729ae608d414d503a6f3c.JPG

The next morning we tried the Palo Champagne Brunch while at port in Nassau. Seriously amazing just how much food was there. This pile of scallops nearly had me crying tears of joy.

DESSERT BONANZA!

021.thumb.JPG.a2290d5b8949e012ade514bebd372a41.JPG

I did well for the seafood and cheese side of the buffet.

022.thumb.JPG.5aabd6bcc57944e1a8d51d0bb2b4371d.JPG

The Palo Champagne Brunch also includes a selection of made to order entrees including eggs, pizzas and more. This open-faced frittata was one of the best I've ever had.

023.thumb.JPG.8094320efe2b30325be1754b9d7191ba.JPG

Oysters Rockefeller!

024.thumb.JPG.9d7fb6120b79b464f42fc3533f9461df.JPG

And this beauty... Easily the best Chicken Parmigiana I've ever had. And yes, that is CANDIED BASIL on top of the chicken. I was in heaven.

025.thumb.JPG.732b049df18cc418136b281a92349cae.JPG

I went kind of crazy with dessert... As I often do.

026.thumb.JPG.a4e5ac90d9b0c5480f59d96589460657.JPG

This is the closest I've been to Atlantis in years... I rarely ever get off of the ship in Nassau.

One of my favorite pieces of Disney Animation concept art on the ship.

Proof that somewhere in this ship there is a hidden coaster waiting to be ridden. ;-)

029.thumb.JPG.22dd0766e02cdf9e7151488d91be2768.JPG

Looks so nice!

030.thumb.JPG.1bbd295a3fff3c2510d4cf14eead82d2.JPG

Another addition for the Very MerryTime cruise was the Deck the Deck Tropical Holiday Party out on the upper deck.

Hi Elissa!

032.thumb.JPG.a1b96bff6ac449addac22d3e314652f0.JPG

033.thumb.JPG.a9544af80c09baa1f85e54d136d90738.JPG

And a conga line!

034.thumb.JPG.1d1ec47ce980c816e1ff7823dcbbd96b.JPG

This Keyblade Cake (it's actually the symbol for Concierge on the ship) was delicious!

035.thumb.JPG.d849ed696398ddb3c677944bdc857878.JPG

036.thumb.JPG.a117e520b871ef71d6a109d757225a25.JPG

Dinner at Enchanted Garden began with the Mushroom and Bacon Tart served on a leek risotto. It was bliss.

037.thumb.JPG.71fddb8ce5565998ba64e4c01746ac50.JPG

And of course, the killer Avocado Tuna Tower for the sushi fan in me.

038.thumb.JPG.99ffe02dc2ad4e830d7115a0a23b2a71.JPG

The Pan-Seared Sea Bass is the standout entree on the menu for sure!

039.thumb.JPG.4b12f867b1d39ebefb297128ee7231a0.JPG

And then this happened.

040.thumb.JPG.c815866fa7230aef93b4d450a13ba211.JPG

Some other holiday desserts available on the sailing...

041.thumb.JPG.1e70eb68acdfc0ffe6ecdc0512168daf.JPG

Oceaneer Bands are available for the younger guests in the Oceaneer's Lab and Oceaneer's Club and they are compatible with MagicBand accessories.

045.thumb.JPG.b1ed8fd55dada9ce7b52839fb6f9d20b.JPG

Look! It's Peter Pan!

046.thumb.PNG.757dd32d60f127e1612c11de7048e473.PNG

Then this happened.

047.thumb.JPG.b1701eb30c03df8bc4145b302cf58d21.JPG

And it was amazingly entertaining.

048.thumb.JPG.832bb90d381fb1f2d8755413e509ab47.JPG

Time for more desserts.

049.thumb.JPG.df4172d20308a62addbbad44cf0d2ccc.JPG

Another favorite piece of Disney Animation concept art on the ship.

The in-room TVs even have a channel dedicated to those awesome Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts that have come out over the last few years. Seriously, they are hilarious and offer great little Easter Eggs for Disney fans, especially those from the parks.

Next up was our first time dining at Remy, the ship's additional-charge French restaurant. First up was the Tomato Soup Cube. The soup is flash fried in a breeding cube and when you bite it warm soup is inside.

I shouldn't read your reports!. . I always end up hungry

looks like a fantastic time, tho i don't know that I"d ever cruise Disney simply because of the amount of kids on the boat (tho they don't seem that noticeable in your pics except for the Pirates ones).

Is a Disney cruise comparable in cost to say Celebrity?. . or are they more expensive because they are Disney? (I've always wondered).

I'm also curious about the amount of kids and cost comparison. The food looks out of this world. Is it all included in the cost of the cruise, with the exception of Palo and Remy? The Christmas decorations are awesome!! Happy bday
