fatdaddy
Twisted Colossus construction tour! Okay, here's the skinny, I won't go into too much detail...because you probably know everything already. So, here are some pictures and a few small progress updates from the tour. Really, it looks amazing and the work seems to be moving along at a fast pace. Can't wait to ride it! Pictures... Roller coaster, only it's not for ridin', it's just for lookin'. Something missing? No looks fine to me. They fixed that section that jackhammered really bad, well it's gone and that's all that matters. The save Colossus effort, you see they load it in a truck and... Chainsaw! New transfer table. Can we build it? Yes we can! Except I'm just gonna watch. Tastes TWISTED! Connie likes to dress up in hats and invites others to participate in her hobby. Two queues will become one big one. Used to be something here I think. After 36 hours of riding they decided that my awesomeness could not be equaled and just completely tore this side of the coaster out. Once it reopens thousands will come just to stand on this spot. Of course they'll have to get in line for Twisted Colossus, but hey that'll be fun too. New control panel goes here. Macho macho man, I've got to be a macho man... Basically she is saying "Awesome, awesome, awesome..." Something like that. It's gonna be awesome! Thanks to Six Flags Magic Mountain and RMC for letting us tour the site, it was awesome...and twisted! Edited April 30, 2015 by robbalvey
KarlaKoaster
Amazing pictures of what will surely be an amazing ride. That pre-lift section in blue looks so wrong but it looks so right
tony_1
I want to see how they will fix the part where the fire was. I wonder if they could have made it higher with a steeper drop?
larrygator
Caesar, so happy that you have mastered the shift and provided this excellent coverage for TPR.
fatdaddy
Touring Twisted Colossus...how could any report be bad? Seriously those RMC guys never seemed to stop moving, this thing will be built in no time.
soilooklikemanson
Mind blowing report. Great job Caesar. Damn I should have made it down there. Absolutely beautiful.
rcdude
Great pictures! I can't wait to ride this coaster. It's going to be the best new thrill ride in Southern California since Tatsu.

gerstlaueringvar
Thank you for this update, Colossus' pre-lift section looks so weird and awesome! Have they installed any new track pieces lately? The fire's location kind of stopped them from installing the first drop. Maybe they'll install the track in reverse from brake run? fatdaddy
Most of the work going on was at the top of the lift(s), which is where the fire was, but that area has been pretty much rebuilt. Looks like cross beams going in at the top.
chickenbowl
Did they mention when the first drops are being completed?
WFChris
I guess those picture solve the '2 platforms' question. The brake run clearly goes straight into the one and only load/unload platform .
iloveblueberries
Congratulations you are most likely the first and last person to ever lick twisted colossus's track.

darklingscribe
I agree that element looks weird (as well as an awesome way of spicing up the approach to the lift hill), would that be considered trick-track or something new dreamed up by RMC? Some part of me is as excited about this section as any other in the entire ride. Fantastic report!

Some part of me is as excited about this section as any other in the entire ride. Fantastic report! Fourthed. As mesmerizingly surreal and awesome as this element will be, can you imagine if RMC built this kind of prelift element right after a first drop, similar to the Ocean View Rocket? (Obviously on a larger scale.) Edited December 6, 2014 by DonGeorge

fatdaddy
Okay, let's just keep this thread going. I had a chance to do the latest hard hat tour of Twisted Colossus and was told they will try to have a constuction tour a often as monthly. So, I'll try to post everything here, so you can get keep up to date and see just how far the progress has gone. Now, I am not one for details, but I will try to get the big ones in there for you. This tour was a lot more extensive than the last, since they have finished most of the cutting and reprofiling. The idea is to fit the structure to the track, not the track to the structure. So, you may see some areas cut down while others are built up as the track is fit together to prevent warping or binding of the track. You will also notice most of the debris has been removed and it looks like they are building something rather than cutting something down. Okay, pictures... Almost all of the landscaping has be chopped and cropped to make way for the new "Steam Punk" theming. The area of the new Twisted 'Wiches sandwich shop, is now completely minus trees and will get new concrete and landscaping. Bathrooms will get some love too. A new stairway will help you get to Twisted Colossus after you've had your twisted sandwich. They removed just about everything from the station. All the ride op stations are gone and the area where the other train went through has been covered over. Refurbishing the bridge means tearing the old stuff out. Straight section will be a brake run to control the speed through the station. You can see the old raised ride op area is gone. Green meets blue. Transfer modifications are finished. Green + Blue= TWISTED! Dirt and footers, people love dirt and footers. This is pretty much the receiving area, where everything is sorted out cataloged before it goes...where it goes. Motors. Blue stuff. Next up...Twisted Colossus! Edited February 18, 2015 by fatdaddy
Nrthwnd
Man, I just wish I could get to this year's WCB...but I can't. Other travel plans. However, there is always the following year's WCB. Thanks for the great photo shots, Caesar!
fatdaddy
Okay, Twisted Colossus... I want to build a chopper and use these as the fenders. Footers will stay. I need this stuff...really. Lots of pieces left to go in. Guess what section this is for? Built it all by myself...YOUR WELCOME! Now, hang tight for the coaster trains...
