Guy T. Koepp
Dude! I just totally solved their capacity problem with this ride if they put it in at CP. If you just extended the track to make a loop right back into the station, you wouldn't have to deal with the whole backwards part, or the switchback part. The train would just arrive back in the station under it's own power. Why has no one ever thought of that? Wait... Doh?

DoinItForTheFame
Just in case anyone is curious the park said on Facebook that Switchback is scheduled to open to the public October 17th, 2015!! Also, it turns out that they were originally going to have the "Grand Spike" twisted, but they decided not to... Here is one of the original sketches. We later decided to go steeper rather than twisted. ...and they attached this photo.

friendlyroob
So, how does this transfer track work?
coasterkid124
^There is a brake run after the first drop. When the train goes down the first drop, the brakes are open, letting it go through the course. On the way back, the brakes close, and a small transfer segment in front of the brake run switches, and the train is directed into the station. aeyrolet
I got the opportunity to ride this yesterday! It was a really fun! The seats are really comfortable and yet allow you to get plenty of air time. The ride itself is pretty fast and smooth. I loved the over banked turns and the steep drop backwards. This is a home run for the park!

cfc
A proposed Texas trip for me this year washed out due to a number of problems, but this ride is definitely a good incentive to try again.
Ducky dude
Just in case no one knows... Switchback has climbed the spike high enough and became the worlds steepest wooden roller coaster!!! (According to the park)
Woodie Warrior
Just in case no one knows... Switchback has climbed the spike high enough and became the worlds steepest wooden roller coaster!!! (According to the park) IMO it doesn't really count if only the front of the train makes it to that steepness.
