terdferg
I remember reading on another site or here about an old coaster that had drops into a ravine. From my memory it was an out and back, and the first drop may not have been the largest. If I I remember correctly it was in the mid west. I made a recreation in no limits but lost it, as well as the old photos and info. It wasn't at kennywood. Any help would be appreciated, I feel as though I tore the Internet apart looking but cannot find anything.
ScreaminNewEngland
Herculese at Dorney?
ernierocker
Here is Hercules: http://rcdb.com/241.htm First drop was the main drop and it certainly isn't in the midwest. If it isn't that, information such as steel or wooden would be helpful. Edited October 9, 2014 by ernierocker

StuckInSD
Maybe it was Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls? Or maybe Screamin' Eagle at Six Flags St. Louis?
Dschu
Maybe it was Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls? Or maybe Screamin' Eagle at Six Flags St. Louis? Those aren't defunct.

Tanks4me05
West View Park Racing Whippet? This has multiple drops into a ravine and there is an NL recreation of it somewhere. It's defunct, too. http://rcdb.com/2049.htm
terdferg
Puritas springs cyclone was it. Thanks!
cal1br3tto
^Awesome! I was just about to second that guess since I've seen the recreation out there. That is easily one of the defunct coasters that fascinates me the most; I'd put it in my top 5 rides I'd like to experience in real life.
hey...hey
Never heard of that one, so I looked it up on RCDB. Man, nowadays, that thing looks like rotted wood in the middle of a forest.
glucky11801
I remember going to Puritas Springs in 1979 or 1980 to see the remains of the Cyclone. The tracks were much more intact back then. I climbed down the ravine and took photos of the drops, looking up the hills. It surely was an an amazing coaster! I'll have to look for those photos...
