Chimelong Paradise National Roller Coaster Day TR

Recommended Posts

To celebrate National Roller Coaster Day,, I went to Chimelong Paradise. China doesn't have a Roller Coaster Day as far as I know and no other country has that much celebration as US so I just automatically think it's World Roller Coaster Day.

My last visit to the park was in April, 2013 and back they I thought it was just an average park. But after going to the Texas/Midwest Tour last year and going to Ocean Kingdom twice this year, I really had a low expectation because I thought Chimelong fully focused on Ocean Kingdom. But Chimelong Paradise really became a park that kicks all the Happy Valley parks' a$$. Everything is very good for a Chinese park-two train operation, no stacking or 10 seconds stacking, Coca Cola products, CLEAN BATHROOM, free Wi-Fi on queue lines, fast lane system, high quality souvenirs, no line jumping... It's like one of the high quality Six flags parks minus the rides. I grew up going to the park since it opened with ¥135($22) ticket price to ¥280($46), Giant Frisbee, 4D movie theater, Dive Coaster, Youngstar Coaster, Action Show and this year's Alien Attack and Forest Tample. I felt pretty proud that this is my home park.

The park played Shakira's song all day and there's a Latino band singing Black Eyed Peas' songs at the main stage, it gets a bit annoying after a few hours.

Enjoy the pictures!

I went to the park at 1:30 PM, this is the south gate, I took subway to the park because I took a TOEFL test in the morning.

The Golden Horse super splash had an hour waiting because they only run one boat. The other boat might be in annual refurb at the most shameless factory in this planet.

image.thumb.jpg.a9a8bdb3dd198354e2b329996b88bcf0.jpg

But the splash is pretty big for a super splash of that size.

image.thumb.jpg.4d615c3dd86df56354f40f77bb1c65ec.jpg

You know a park is good when...

image.thumb.jpg.b0b3677482b1a6be368591f2e4d08d5c.jpg

Intamin god please keep the train on the track! Half Pipe got some investigation after Elitch Garden's accident.

image.thumb.jpg.7b720a23fe14cb1a98dc1d9140c07974.jpg

I didn't ride Giant Frisbee because I don't like spinning flat rides. One fun thing about the ride op: he was saying " oh yeah, you like it? Yeah! Like it? Wanna make it swing higher? Let's scream together! Raise your hands! You like it?" Like he was in porn... A lot of people were laughing about it but seems like he didn't notice how inappropriate it was. Especially when they are playing Can't Remember To Forget You (the MTV is basically Shakira and Rihanna shooting a porn video)

image.thumb.jpg.38dae8ec25fcfd3c6bb26c3ede567fcb.jpg

Youngstar Coaster got some rattle... Pretty sad for such a nice family coaster.

image.thumb.jpg.65acecca509bdaeefaf4d0ebd8169689.jpg

Just a picture of Dive Coaster.

image.thumb.jpg.d8099dbfa56667e09c7cd03c74b19d56.jpg

Dive Coaster coming off the MCBR. They ran two trains yesterday and seems like they used the wheels with super thin polyurethane layers. The train went super fast and much smoother than last year. But I'm still wondering why it ended up at #37 of Mitch Hawker Steel Poll last year.

Ready for some wetness!

image.thumb.jpg.bec0872827b008d2bcec9c6ed1c7483e.jpg

A big tree that gives some shade in the hot and humid Guangzhou weather. That day felt exactly like our stay at SFOT last year.

image.thumb.jpg.502193b0f1b537d6ffea89bc670862a2.jpg

They are showing a Tesla next to Dive Coaster.

image.thumb.jpg.3f6188338eb75783fa4c74f9e5643cf2.jpg

The two track connecting parts got a bit rough but tolerable compare with the other Intamin...

image.thumb.jpg.402318bcb3d97b1fd9b187dce94cf45e.jpg

Random shot, the park had 13 thousand visitors that day. Looks like there's only a thousand people in the park.

image.thumb.jpg.600cd7c103c09fbf0ac9f4993ea9084d.jpg

The train has electric cable linked which might means the whole train is a safety check circuit. Can anyone confirm this?

image.thumb.jpg.6dc4cf09adb51aab33efd212b8c8af0e.jpg

They just experienced a huge head bang. The first row is pretty nice, Mantis rough but the back row gives Hades360 level pain at some parts.

image.thumb.jpg.8918f7ea69f3cf8d9848af4e271dabbf.jpg

Let the snappy corkscrews begin!

image.thumb.jpg.95bcdbacfe151dc2edd2a308dc918fc3.jpg

Barrel Rolls!!!

image.thumb.jpg.6f7ae5afc621e4b9a524f47d74d34525.jpg

I noticed that there's only one restraint check circuit part instead of one for each car like most modern coasters.

image.thumb.jpg.988c140545592cfcfcf46d482b0dade6.jpg

They added a sunshade(or rain shade given the weather of Guangzhou) in case the train stacks and protect the train during bad weather.

image.thumb.jpg.ad73f98c68007416eb7e89312850886b.jpg

The space for the Zamperla Family gravity Coaster is under construction. Intamin drop tower anyone?

image.thumb.jpg.49c1343b507916c484c0da5ce004d4de.jpg

... Now here's the ultimate Hades360 simulator.

image.thumb.jpg.5766781560478f416ff0c26de91d6d43.jpg

When the track changes from three spine track to two spine tracks, you can see the train crack into two parts from car to car. When sitting at the back row, it's pretty helpless to see the bump coming from row to row.

image.thumb.jpg.b9c4f904a1fa740ed8b3a887ba3b6588.jpg

But Intamin+Werner Stengel's snappy transitions and forceful inversions at least make the part after the Cobra Roll pretty good.

image.thumb.jpg.c4a071a19501fdef6bab9b9da223655d.jpg

The pain is about to pass! Hang on!

image.thumb.jpg.eb5574ed45f07d7140bbd1d94d8be8d8.jpg

CLEAN BATHROOM!

image.thumb.jpg.90a28b5d2129714987db5889c1d3ac1d.jpg

The 4D movie theater is showing a Green Lantern movie.

image.thumb.jpg.5406a647b98f221da9a111f9254804c9.jpg

The other new attraction is Alien Attack, it's a themed 4D theater that riders sit in a spaceship and fight aliens with robots. I asked the ride ops who the manufacturer is but all they know is that it's made by an American company.

image.thumb.jpg.1d5c3ce1a02655bde1fc3e5e59e98955.jpg

This is one of the two new attractions-Forest Tample. It's a pretty weird walk through with some nice effects.

The spot for the removed Golden Horse spinner is under construction too. I kind of hope they get something like Laff Trakk.

That swinging thing is gone too, S&S Giant Swing might be right for this spot.

image.thumb.jpg.cc54165001151faa2dde380ccc72757c.jpg

The Zamperla Flying Carpet is gone too. The vehicle was already removed. How about another dark ride?

It's about to rain!

Some creepy theming.

This is the inside of the theater, special effects are pretty nice, have to say I was pleasantly surprised.

Forest Tample's queue line. Good environment and A/C!!

This is about a group of people having a forest tree to save the world. But the local looks like some crazy teenagers to me.

Three more pictures of Dive Coaster I took after a ride.

image.thumb.jpg.e52e6c6270deb79559dd4348e89b3b74.jpg

There's another train. They have three trains in total but only run two trains at a time because it never gets that need to run three trains. Ride op told me that the maintenance department change wheels very frequently these days to keep it smooth.

The train has electric cable linked which might means the whole train is a safety check circuit. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes the entire train is monitored as a whole. Each car has an electrical cable as there is only 1 bus-rail contact underneath car 3 or 4 which releases restraints and also monitors if the restraints are in the proper position.

Your dinner looks delicious, and very cool in how they cook it at your table.

Is that squash underneath those meat and veggie kabobs? Yum.

Great report and photos. Thanks for sharing your visit there.

Thank you! I haven't seen a lot of these actually. The coasters I paid attention to all use individual bus-rail contact or the Gerstlauer style that allows continuous loading.

That's carrot, they just put it there for decoration.

Great report. Very interesting to see this high quality park, and very nice to see a high quality bathroom!
Haha I kind of thought I have to post that picture because the picture of Crab Island's bathroom kind of destroyed Chinese park's bathroom reputation in general

Nice pictures! So they never run three trains on the dive coaster. Do you know if they always run the same two or change them often (so that one train isn't left to rotten)?

They change trains from what I know. They never run three trains because there's only enough fluffy fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo for two trains.

Really? So I guess they never planned to run three trains.

Excellent report. I really enjoyed my visit to Chimelong in 2012 and I remember the food being rather good.

I went back for two more orders of the shrimp dumplings, that was the 2nd best food I ate at any of the Chinese parks.
