boldikus
So apparently Saturday is National Roller Coaster Day. Looks like Six Flags is doing a promo with this in mind, but a google search reveals links to posts about how this has been a thing since the 80's. Does anyone here care about it? Anyone doing anything for it? I've coincidentally scheduled a day at SFGAdv on Friday w/ my sister, who was my original coaster buddy when we were kids. Stoked. And then I happen to be going to see my folks in Wildwood on Saturday, so I'll likely be at Morey's on Saturday at some point. So it looks like I'm making a weekend out of it. Sorry if there is a thread about this already, I searched.
gerstlaueringvar
I'm going to Chimelong Paradise to celebrate because seems like only US' Roller Coaster Day is a thing. Guess I'll be the only TPR member there.
Canobie Coaster
I don't really need an excuse to go to an amusement park, but having an extra reason makes a trip more likely.
XYZ
Well, it happens to be that August 16th is when I go to my first park on my 6-park Midwest trip: Holiday World. I can't wait to be the only Californian in Holiday World.
CanobieFan
I find it funny how they're closing Colossus on NRCD
RissaBooBissa
I find it funny how they're closing Colossus on NRCD The irony!
Nrthwnd
This Saturday is when our annual fair, the PNE, opens. Unfortunately, that means that the price for ride tickets and passes goes way up - and I can't even use my regular season pass for this time. So, no coaster for me. So - I shall be riding a coaster of my own (mind) making.
JRice92
Just recently found out about National Roller Coaster Day, for me it was just a great excuse to get out to Cedar Point this Saturday.

StuckInSD
I might consider stopping by Belmont Park to take a ride on Giant Dipper. Every other establishment with roller coasters takes 60-80 bucks to get in.
alexinla
I find it funny how they're closing Colossus on NRCD The irony! Closing day of Colossus was choosen with NRCD in mind as all Six Flags parks are celebrating it this year.
Midgetman82
I was ironically in Orlando from the 14th to the 16th last year, and got to spend the 16th at SeaWorld before catching a flight out that afternoon heading home. Best unplanned solo park trip ever! Might as well continue the tradition. I don't really need an excuse to go to an amusement park, but having an extra reason makes a trip more likely. I totally second this. This Saturday is when our annual fair, the PNE, opens.Unfortunately, that means that the price for ride tickets and passes goes way up - and I can't even use my regular season pass for this time. So, no coaster for me. So - I shall be riding a coaster of my own (mind) making. The KY State Fair started, so prices have slightly changed here as well. Normal park day tickets would be $44.95 at gate ($52.95 w/ parking), but it's $19.95 during the fair. Then you include required fair admission, required parking fee, and optional weekend midway unlimited wristband and it ramps up to $62.95 ($53 through Kroger). Unlike yours, my season pass is valid at KK... Your situation seems quite unfair.
gerstlaueringvar
Why don't we all take a picture at the park we are visiting tomorrow and share here? Would be fun to see pictures from all around the world.
djcoastermark
Sooo, the weather here was lots of rain today, therefore coaster riding didn't seem to be in the cards. Instead, in honor of National Coaster Day, I had an Insane Coaster Wars marathon going on in the house all day. Seasons 1,2 and 3. Now I'm going absolutely crazy for a coaster fix! Midgetman82
It started rained here in Kentucky too, but that didn't stop me! Rides in the rain are the best, ever! Sorry to those who couldn't go out. Any day's a coaster day when the park's open!
Kemotblue01
Spent National Roller Coaster Day at my local park Frontier City....closed out the day by a few night rides on the Wildcat a nice little out and back woody. Nice it is up and down through a dense forest area of the park. Then closed out the day with a final night run on the Silver Bullet a Classic Anton Shwarzkopf Looping Star. JRice92
I spent my Nation Roller Coaster day hopping from park to park! Spent my morning at Cedar Point, by noon crowds were very heavy so I said to myself I should go to Waldameer! But wait! I've still never been to Conneaut Lake Park and I'm not sure about the future of that park so let me go grab that Blue Streak credit while I still can! Then over to Waldameer! For only finding out about this holiday on Tuesday I think I did pretty good! Started my morning with 2 rides on Maverick! This was a great little ride! It was really cool seeing the hand operated brakes! Then ending my day with this excellent woodie!
Kemotblue01
Wish I could of rode more coasters within driving distance of where I live closest park I have is Frontier City. It would Be nice to be close to one of the big league parks.
