Today I went down to see the construction of Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland and it is safe to say that Olympia...sorry, Munich Looping, is there. I walked all around the perimeter taking pictures so you don't need to go. The construction looks really good, and some rides were even testing, although not what I wanted to see test. At points I got really close to Munich Looping, and could almost feel the G's. Enjoy the pictures.

By the way, like my journey, the pictures of Olympia Looping get clearer the further along you go.

I got a Hangover...whooooaaa!! This is my all time favorite drop tower, and I have a good history of drop towers. Yep, this thing beats Detonator, Atomsfear, Giant Drop and Apocalypse stand up and sit down, as well as many more.

Poking my camera though chinks. How does that from a Midsummer Night Dream go? Ah yes, "Thou Wall, O Wall, O sweet and lovely Wall,

Show me thy chink to blink through with mine eyne!"

Cursed be thy stones for thus deceiving me!

I did eventually find a wide open gate, and went as far in as I dared to get pictures before getting shouted at.

This shows the park quite well. It actually looks really good, and I am trying to plan how to split up my money on the rides I want to go on (with an assumption of £8 per ride).

The inverted coaster. It looks tame, but I really want to try it as it is so unique.

Some rides have moved position. Ski jump is in a really bad place, so less queues for me!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing! Looks like a place where one could quickly end up spending a lot of money!

That might be the weirdest name/theming I have ever seen for a ride like this...

Yeah it is a bit strange, they love to go all out at Winter Wonderland. Normally its themed as Rockrage throughout the main funfair season.

Also, anyone following the pullup of the fair should check out here:

https://www.facebook.com/hydeparkwinterwonderlandunofficial/?fref=ts

They have daily updates and exclusive onsite pictures. I have been there once and its so impressive in person, I went on the day after they put up the 3rd and 4th loops, they were working on the helixes. Incredibly excited to be visiting on Saturday!

So just been on olympia looping for the first time and my God it did not disappoint. It seemed to go on forever and the forces are unreal... I can also just commend the team who run it... never have I seen a more efficient group of people run 3 trains on such a short track. If you are in London get down and ride this beautiful classic beast.

You wouldn't guess it but its actually over 4000ft. When I was on the way to it me and the people I was with were debating how on earth its over 1000ft longer than Colossus at Thorpe Park!

You won't find many coasters being operated better than this. I just wish I'd been able to film it on 5 trains, rather than 4.

As for staffing, they had 7 platform attendants (1 for each car of the 7-car trains), 1 operator in the control booth, 6 cashiers in the payboxes, and 2 collecting tickets on the station. Plus 4 members of Winter Wonderland's staff selling ride tokens from the booths next to the ride.

Wow! Going by that video posted of the loading/unloading. I think I just worked out that if it carried on consistently at 30 seconds per load, on a 12 hour day over a week, it would bring in £1,270,080 per week at £9 per ride, with seven cars per train. Thats £7,620,480 for the duration of Winter Wonderland.

Obviously Winter Wonderland isn't always as busy as it is on this video, but if it was then thats a pretty descent amount of money.

Can't wait until I get to ride it next weekend.

They only brought 4 of the trains over, as far as I know just to clarify. I went when it had 5 car trains though so maybe another train also came over.

They had all 5 trains on site from the start of the event, but didn't use all 5 at once until the 2nd weekend. At that point, it was the 5-car trains. After that, the owners realised it wasn't enough, and returned to Germany to get the remaining 10 cars so they could extend all 5 trains to 7 cars. Last Friday (Dec 2nd) was the first time it ran the 7 car trains.

Just to emphasise what a big deal that is, it is the first time to my knowledge it has run the longer trains outside of Munich Oktoberfest. Even at other mega-busy fairs, it only runs 5 car trains. If the owners feel Winter Wonderland justifies the extra effort, it shows what a truly huge event it has become. Even more so, when you consider it's the furthest the ride has ever been from home, and that adding the cars was no easy task.

I went two weekends ago, the weekend after opening and only 4 trains were on the track, although to be fair i didn't look it may of been in the surrounding area.

^ they did not run 7 on Friday, as on Saturday they were only running 6 cars. It was on the Sunday it first ran the 7.

Here is my TR: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72710

Yes they did. Your own trip report includes a photo of a seven car train.

He went on Sunday...

OK, my mistake, but they were definitely running seven on Friday.
