How Old Are You & What Was Your 1st Coaster?

My first coaster was Ice Mountain Bobsled at Enchanted Forest.

It's kind of a weird story to me. Let's see. I have no idea how old I was, but certainly between the ages of 8 and 12. It wasn't my idea. I'm 99% sure I had no idea it was a roller coaster. I have no idea if I was already afraid of roller coasters back then, or if it just had never occurred to me that I would ever have a reason to ride one.

I have next to zero recollection of the ride experience...I mostly remember the car, the initial tight tunnel, and maybe the station. So either it was so traumatizing that I repressed the memory (extremely unlikely, but possible since it feels fast and has rough airtime!), or it was so boring I just forgot immediately! (And I usually remember things in great detail. Weird.)

This was my only coaster ride before the age of 18. I still love that coaster, and not just nostalgically.

First Looping Coaster (Continuous Circuit): California Screamin'

First Kiddie Coaster: "Real": Gadget's Go Coaster at DLR. At all: Dragon Wagon, with Tiger Express being the second.

First Looping Coaster (Non-Continuous Circuit): I take it V2 doesn't count, so Aftershock.

First Wooden Coaster: Roar at SFDK. "We'll ride that one first because it doesn't go upside-down."

Tallest Roller Coaster: Aftershock (depressing!)

I can't remember all my firsts but I know my first "real" coaster was the Beast. I was probably 7 when I rode it. The bad part, it was night and it scared the crap out of me. Maybe that's why it's now my favorite?

J2 (Hellcat) at Clemonton Park. It was in 2007. Before that was HSTC at Knoebels. Wow, it seems to me that I have been riding roller coasters for a long time, not just two years!

GASM at SFOG was my first coaster at age 10. My grandfather rode it with me which I still think is totally cool.

I'm 16 and my first coaster was Ripsaw at Camp Snoopy (which would now be called Pepsi Orange Streak at Nick Universe) when I was probably about 7. I remember because I rode it alone due to both my sister and mom chickening out.

I'm 35 and my first coaster was the Coca-Cola Roller at the Glasgow Garden Festival in 1988 aged 14. It was a Boomerang and was only there for the summer. I rode it 16 tmes over that summer and after that I was hooked.

I was forced to go on it when I was 7. I cried until we got to the end. Then I started laughing. Glad my parents did that for me, otherwise I probably wouldn't of been this big into coasters if they didn't.

I am 13 and my first coaster was when I was maybe 6 or 7 and I went on Jaguar (not Jagwire) at KBF. I was super scared, but after I rode it many more times!

My first true real coasters were at Hersheypark. I remember the first time I go on the SooperDooperLooper!! I was sooo scared!!

The first rollar coaster I rode was when I was about 5. It was at this place called Dutch Wonder Land in Pennsylvania. Although it wasn't that scary or high it was still fun!

I'm 30, and the first coaster I ever rode was the great Schwarzkopf ride at SFGAm, The Whizzer. I rode it again about a month ago and still love it -- it's like no other ride I've ever been on.

I'm 24 and Scooby Doo at Kings Dominion was my first coaster.

 

Well, Loch Ness Monster was my first non kiddie coaster.

My first adult coaster was Grizzly at KD when I was 7. I was so scared after riding that I wouldn't ride another adult coaster until I was 14. The next coaster that I would ride would be then Adventure World's new for 1995 coaster, Mind Eraser.

 

Grizzly is one of my favorite wooden coasters now.

I'm 16 now, and my first coaster was Demon at SFGAm when I was 14, yeah my parents never took me anywhere, It was on a class trip. Since then I'm glad to say things have changed and they do take me places!
