I am going to finish this PTR now! School done, graduation done, moving done, and new job DONE.

Next up we took a overnight ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki! It was a really nice ship with the perfect amount of space and amenities for an overnight trip. Upon arrival, we headed up to northern Finland where we would spend time at Powerpark, but not without a bonus stop on the way! This will be a quick update of that, with Power Park to follow very soon!

On to the photos...

01.thumb.JPG.daa780eceaa6fb33ec0bae69e6b5a8e5.JPG

Our ferry was more of a cruise ship!!!

02.thumb.JPG.e5825cf43c4ed1767b968d42be3e9cba.JPG

First impression of the main level/promenade was WOW!

03.thumb.JPG.e3326502dc25d7db877e98c023327a4a.JPG

This was the view as we headed out of Sweden

04.thumb.JPG.1ddec9486e7f125f2026111c714b6d54.JPG

Not quite the fjords this region makes you think of haha, but still quite nice.

05.thumb.JPG.3ac77f13e25897c0b1f0a5c251000705.JPG

Another look down at the main area of the ship. It had a ton of shops and food venues.

06.thumb.JPG.dbdfe3ece8e052969700ac44e1a7d2d7.JPG

We had a huge group dinner at the buffet downstairs (there was also a huge duty free shop down stairs and a GIANT kids area, wow) and it was a lot of good food! After this many partied into the night at the clubs/bars, but for me, I passed out and caught up on some sleep.

07.thumb.jpg.abec04fa3d642389e561ec77e69b24dc.jpg

The next morning we are way the hell up in Finland! Furthest north I've ever been.

08.thumb.JPG.7fb84ab2afd21a279da65725fd2ff246.JPG

On the drive up north we passed this funky looking building in the middle of nowhere. So I took a picture of it.

09.thumb.JPG.58d17c4db7c5020d296ec20d4cb56ce4.JPG

On the way we hit a bonus park in a huge Finland mall...Fun Park!

10.thumb.JPG.b2815afd69de9106c78aa48bcacca4de.JPG

It is home to a figure 8 kiddie coaster.

11.thumb.JPG.53bcf266543b74711b56beb9789b59e9.JPG

Good luck pronouncing that.

12.thumb.JPG.bf881a6334f85232de87b92020a19fd4.JPG

Even with a limit on the number of adults, huge KUDDOS to the operator for getting 100 of us on really quickly.

13.thumb.JPG.4e3eedcc4463a21d66df4432a8910b74.JPG

Weee! Ok, on to food.

14.thumb.JPG.e9fac16d476227d92c7bc9dd25683ccb.JPG

Once again we were given access to a buffet. Many of us were fond of the "spaceship" chicken nuggets.

15.thumb.JPG.cd75757a590322939fc036d4938710ca.JPG

The park was nice and had a bunch of random attractions for kids, including simulators. I liked the flaming airplane of course.

16.thumb.JPG.1e943d10699a95fe44a54006c259c34c.JPG

There were a bunch of children's attractions all over the place.

Walking back to the bus thru the indoor shopping area.

18.thumb.JPG.f60870cd2d9d897776a13e2c0156f4bc.JPG

Yup, I love Sweden.

19.thumb.JPG.a8b67f7ff5576373e485d35ea67c9052.JPG

Fast forward to night time, and we made it up to Power Park way the hell north!!! Also, this picture was taken at midnight. Yup it doesn't get dark up here.

20.thumb.JPG.66a0ed28ac49a2b9ce9d9be2c15630ff.JPG

The cabins we stayed in were so cute! It was hard to capture without a wide lense, but under the stairs was a kitchen area with a table to eat where I was standing. To the left is a big couch and that door leads to a double bed room upstairs. Up stairs was a loft with 3 more beds!

21.thumb.JPG.99a3fc7507ca28dd35de3038d2a655da.JPG

On the other side of the kitchen there was a huge bathroom with a sauna! A bunch of us got naked at this point so photos had to stop...next update we hit Power Park at night and the next day!

Fun fact!

You mentioned Legoland Billund was your second Legoland. But it also sort of was your third.

You see, you visited Hansa-Park the day before, which opened as Legoland in 1973.

But it wasn't owned by LEGO, and the owners dumped the LEGO-theme after only 4 seasons because it cost too much.

You actually took a photo of the former "Miniland pit".

I swear I am going to finish this!

Time for another big update. Our first large park was in Finaland...Powerpark! It is home to the most northern-ly wooden coaster in the world. And it's an awesome place. Not only are their rides good, but they have amazing karting and accommodation. Check it out in the photos! Also this was over 2 days...but you can't tell because it never got dark!

01.thumb.JPG.4be70f599837d21a51d204f0d219ac3c.JPG

Here we are arriving at the cute cottages of Power Park!

02.thumb.JPG.1799124c3a5a855343f17f2303e0fbc3.JPG

This would be our unit for the stay. We combined with another pair of roommates (Hi Soupy and Bob!) to crash in the cabin

03.thumb.JPG.11850f9abd99c1b1fa0977b1aa074055.JPG

Dropped our stuff off, and it was time to play for the night!

04.thumb.JPG.0f744b65cff367e1c07392c0396f4162.JPG

First stop of course, credits. Pretty sure I didn't even have a locked lap bar for this one.

05.thumb.JPG.5242b76f6367eb626be0c444d49d4bf2.JPG

Next up was the park's family coaster.

06.thumb.JPG.2f44b2972e789f2bba764217c24a2c3c.JPG

Here it comes!

07.thumb.JPG.ef6758a525d425d7a268a7d6ceb1d593.JPG

They also have one of these funky two lift hill spinning mouse coasters! Plus funky noises too.

08.thumb.JPG.793150b4e104e97483bd10acc7d06e85.JPG

The park is beautiful, with a lot of rides on the Finish country side

09.thumb.JPG.826932df8c437879a8d4818e5a08dba4.JPG

American parks look like this, right?

10.thumb.JPG.95273c09629c5c4c92cacfb318c3781c.JPG

Last credit before ERT was the Boomerang.

11.thumb.JPG.09f7f0dd51ae5cde13c495e78759f5ee.JPG

How can one of these look so good??

12.thumb.JPG.054a97c1f64cf638748755cd42e4e344.JPG

Even with funky trains, it's still a Boomerang.

13.thumb.JPG.b89050ceb6de01d88e0414e2d80a928b.JPG

It sure does look pretty though. Okay enough, moving on.

14.thumb.JPG.cd967acee2038a1671027b5f1477949f.JPG

The nightcap was on the park's star coaster, the GCI creation Thunderbird.

15.thumb.JPG.77ef14d03bdc15673dda5c9600a7c014.JPG

It's a really photogenic ride!

16.thumb.JPG.33d8ead67ba659f7c3aebe7cf29b64c3.JPG

And we had a blast riding it for 2 hours :)

17.thumb.JPG.988ab19a8ccb9530bc8ac7aba3ecf43d.JPG

The goal was to load up with fatties and get into an aerodynamic position! We wanted to break the speed record from the last Scandi trip.

18.thumb.JPG.d3a93f33205124e2a9497f6e8b568474.JPG

Unfortunately with colder weather and winds, we were about 1 second off the pace at best.

19.thumb.JPG.19b8ba08b5613b9554df5065c45117ef.JPG

But that didn't stop the fun!

20.thumb.JPG.35efc1503a29d3c57f6e69542f1996fb.JPG

Love those GCI curves.

21.thumb.JPG.bac35e9b6f9ee1635fe01f2252ea0763.JPG

Hands up!

22.thumb.JPG.d592497d6cf59fb7438858c41cf23b8d.JPG

GCI coasters can have some airtime ;)

23.thumb.JPG.a550990bb37de32a8984bbda491d8440.JPG

Walked back for some more artsy shots.

24.thumb.JPG.b8c9422e47cbb2ecdd06db1fe7fa12e9.JPG

Having fun!

25.thumb.JPG.72372524d0717f61e546fedeb2509097.JPG

Working hard to get the best shots for you!

26.thumb.JPG.776eafe878f3e9c17e1d189eb38e1027.JPG

Love this angle.

27.thumb.JPG.31c885659b040b004b2569920fc186e7.JPG

Where did the train go?

28.thumb.JPG.a931c9388f1f48aa8ae15ddd708be14a.JPG

After a bunch of riding, we retired to the cabins. These were the newer ones.

29.thumb.JPG.b373a7e9d166a058a47319c48eb1c53a.JPG

All cabins had a seating area, table, kitchen, full bathroom with a sauna, and 2 bedrooms.

30.thumb.JPG.9ee4c2a0ae3096fc0e9b71b5c21bfcb9.JPG

So very cute!

31.thumb.JPG.0e5a8728f289e796b9f8d33484f1ec8f.JPG

Quaint sleeping areas :)

32.thumb.JPG.fb6ee9df76a73ae660e93f9d6258680d.JPG

The next morning, it was time for the TPR Grand Prix!

33.thumb.JPG.ec308063800590a279f6bec97628b2b4.JPG

The karts are all lined up ready to go

34.thumb.JPG.ab5b3e18af8f13189431eb521ea12d02.JPG

Now we just need riders

35.thumb.JPG.bc99dfdddd5b10320d27229c7d6b6995.JPG

Are you guys ready?

36.thumb.JPG.707d23026ab26cfc3bb99e0d36001af2.JPG

And they are off!

37.thumb.JPG.8fb51299f68758a9229df379c0d75d82.JPG

Crossing the finish line.

38.thumb.JPG.fa5754439f1a5e0ae6061be0af88b019.JPG

The corners were definitely tricky!

39.thumb.JPG.fd0d06121d80b59de7342683b4ec3a9f.JPG

This corner was definitely a major spin out spot!

40.thumb.JPG.a6cc0b29c2fbac087e4cda0ef21a2c50.JPG

Who will win?

41.thumb.JPG.0bf1006b67cff3d68d3d1bf1f0dbec8e.JPG

The course is super high tech! The 15 people with the fastest lap times moved on to the final race.

42.thumb.JPG.198c4db2937a584a4ecedf5fd463a21b.JPG

And here are the final 15 lined up for the championship race!

43.thumb.JPG.8ab06b5a259c1af088644eb2c55f101e.JPG

And they pile into calamity corner! First one to the finish wins. And I think it was some Aussie

44.thumb.JPG.9306f2bfef4528f0b5307860aaac9dd8.JPG

Afterwords, we spent a few more hours in the park. Kickass crazy frisbee through a house!!!

45.thumb.JPG.caa4a515d91195a69f7af1d61adae692.JPG

Gotta love dark rides.

46.thumb.JPG.7fe3bafb9fa5e4c18060af2218d3dbea.JPG

Can't go to an European park without a fun house :)

47.thumb.JPG.300cec85fbe6d083bbb639788ce1a2e7.JPG

These guys needed a little bit of help on the spinner

48.thumb.JPG.1212b143d74e9ca31a41881a51b95af4.JPG

The parks flume ride was great!! Lots of drops and turns and unique nonsense.

49.thumb.JPG.76212b2ce9a5b765a3db1c1bc0c76741.JPG

They also have a working Mach Tower...running TWO modes!

50.thumb.JPG.a1503858d5fbd66bc43e2a310447ae80.JPG

Our last moments were spent walking around enjoying the parks many areas, like this walk through village of...trolls?

51.thumb.JPG.c56956e9dccceb1c21c6c9b3f1d9683b.JPG

Bonus picture the cabins at...you guessed it...midnight!

Soupy waves goodbye from Powerpark! Such a cool place and can't wait to go back for their new coaster. Up next, Wasalandia!

Loved this park.

And the 'troll village' behind the coaster was actually a film set, built for popular

story characters' adventures, in Finland. I ran into, and got to chat with the father of

(and) the owner of the park/resort! And they told me what the sets were all for. After the movie

was finished filming, they loved the set up so much, they decided to keep it for park visitors.

Worked for me!

Love the photos of Power Park Jake! This park was definitely at the top of the list for most memorable visits of the trip. The TPR Grand Prix the next morning was such a fun time, I was both surprised and glad when I made it into the final 15. I can't resist a good go-kart course. I can't wait to see how their new coaster turns out, guess I'll need another trip to Finland & Scandi soon.

Other than Holiday World, where in the US can you rent a cabin at a park?

More parks than you might expect

Cedar Point, Knoebels, Lake Compounce, Darien Lake, Indiana Beach

There may be more, not sure.

After our fun day at Power Park, we made a quick visit to Wasalandia on the day down to Tampere. This park was a small family park and was really cute! The staff was super friendly and took us around the park on a quick VIP tour before offering us a meal. Quick photo update before moving on to Sarkaniemmi!
