Jantzen73
Decided to break my #1 rule and go to Cedar Point on an insanely busy day. Knew what I was getting myself (and my family) into and knew that it would be more site-seeing than coaster riding. Plus, once I saw the beautiful weather forecast along with the fun activities planned (and of course the fireworks!) it was a go. Also, as a bonus we got to get our first rides on the newly opened SlingShot - and we all loved it! Thankfully we had free passes from the Winter ChillOut event - because the asking price of $25 a piece (there is 10% discount for Platinum Pass holders) is a little steep - though probably in-line with other SlingShots. I really was expecting not to like the ride - but the smooth launch, couple of fun flips and a gorgeous view of the park made this a winner. And the crowds that would gather to watch really added some new excitement to that end of the Gemini Midway. The airshow was a little "meh" - pretty short and only 1 plane that never came to close or low to the beach. Imagine this for 10 minutes and this was the extent of the daytime show. 3 skydivers made there way down to the park at the end of the show. Just watching (and listening) to the SlingShot launches is entertainment in and of itself. Seemed like everyone came off with a smile on their face! Tony hamming it up for the pie eating contests. The setting for the pie eating contest was setup like something straight out of a movie. Tony unleashing belly aches for the young'uns Yes - you will even get pie in your eyebrows! This sleeping goat slept right through everyone coming up and saying 'hi' - it's tough work being this cute. Looked up to see the moon and Mantis while waiting for the kids to use a Front of Line pass on TTD. Iron Dragon was looking sexy with the mist and the late afternoon sun. Trying to be artsy Do you like to be dropped or shot? Ending of Luminosity from the beach. The night airshow as pretty much like the day except for the cool flares on the wings The sun was setting - so that means the fireworks are getting close! Oooh! Aaah! Kaboom! You get the point... Wasn't sure if there were actually sending riders up WindSeeker or just sending up for show. Liked how WindSeeker looked in this one. The perfect firework. During the finale - this looked like an atomic bomb going off. Rejoice - Nothing says 'murica like large, colorful explosions!
Schwarzillard
Great TR - I think fireworks are similar at all Cedar Fair parks, though. Kings Dominion's looked very similar.
simon8899
Was the Windseeker running with guests during the fireworks? Would strike me as odd from which I experienced with the American obsession for safety... But positive surprises are always welcome!
DaMarkSta
All the coasters and rides were running during the fireworks. Also surprising but they've done it that way for years with no incidents.
