simon8899
Having spent one night at the Port Royal Resort Hotel with dinner and breakfast buffet one was ready to take spins on Heide-Parks brand new coaster one week before park opening - one day after the official cristening and press event. The coaster looking nice in HPs typical white/dark-green color scheme. Entry is in part via the old Wildwasser 2 entryways which station remains as a ghostly ruin. On the station scareactors posed as Demons and were ready to scare waiting riders. I liked the coaster more in the front as it provided some very nice upside down hangtimes here. The back had some nice forces on the outer seats - however also some oscillating in some figures. Sadly in row 3 and 4 faster Nylon wheels were installed that improved the coasters speed but also were a tad rough - not only car racing depends on the right tires. On the behind-the-scenes tour it was said that they hope to replace Nylon wheels with standard wheels as the weather will get warmer. Passing Krake - maybe in a few weeks... Getting closer Test run with dummies and two engineers in the back Frist look at the station. Got the first ride of the day. The operators stand was packed as employees did training on the job. Happy riders having a little air mostly in the back of the train here. Slow inversions with good hangtime in the front rows. Track detail The remains of the log flume station. Some nice compression in the pretzel-loop. Inside the air compressor room. Flug requires an air pressure system with constantly 8 bar for mechnical brakes and entry gates. The main ride computer control and engine room. Some 30 year old loops from the serviceway. Train inside the maintenence bay. An average of 4 hours per day with two engineers of maintenece is required for this ride. Engineers beginning work at 6 am... Wheel assembly up close. Entire bay with crane assembly. New wheels! Cost: €500 (small) and €700 (large) Control box for testing the restraint systems. These guys and girls love to scare riders who are immersed in their smartphone... Final ride of the day having done 4 spins today. Good day to start the 2014 season. Big Loop ready to roll next sunday. One last view over the whole layout of Flug. Seeing it again soon... 619fan
Looks pretty good, but why must they have scareactors in the waiting area. Unfortunately then this coaster is a no go for me. I hate scareactors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CPSFMMCW
It's a very good looking coaster! Love the trains!
simon8899
Engineer who did the tour said that the paint will be sandblasted off and re-done in the off season to x-ray and ultrasound the trains for hairline cracks...
rcjp
Nice pictures! How was the airtime on that hill after the drop? I know I mentioned that the back got the most but how was it overall? And what about positive Gs?
simon8899
^Airtime mostly felt in the second half of the train, but still mild compared to Intamins like Colossos next door. Positive Gs mostly present at the entry of the Immelmann and the compression of the Pretzel-Loop, would guess topping at about 3,5Gs. Maybe have to re-check it on a warmer day - we had 8-10 °C today - engineer said he guessed top speed today at cool temps at 96 kph, at 30 °C he thinks it could reach up to 105 kph. The overall feeling reminded me of a flight I did on a glider / sailplane a few years ago.
_koppen
Awesome photos! I sure hope they can find something to use the old flume station for, it looks so sad now.
simon8899
^How about relocating the Break Dancer into the old station? Giving it a fitting demon theme and making it a darkride with effects would sure be cool. Then the Schwarzkopf Monster Okti could leave its lonely place and go into the Maya Valley. cfc
I like how they've themed this ride. Having scareactors in the station is a nice touch.
Coaster19
Wow this looks amazing! I would love to ride this! The scaractor is an awesome idea for envelope the patrons into the experience as they wait. It is almost a ride while waiting for a ride. Love it! singemfrc
I like how they've themed this ride. Having scareactors in the station is a nice touch. Definitely, love the theming, especially the station interior. First time I've looked at a wing rider and was interested. This definitely isn't Six Flags. cal1br3tto
Nice report. I had actually forgotten what coaster this was, so before I got to the pictures I had fun reading your description and trying to imagine what kind of ride it could be. simon8899
As only 24 riders - enough to fill one train - are allowed to enter the station the scareactors have some room to move around. Next to the normal queue the ride also has a Express-Butler and single rider entrance.
Jew
The scare actor in the station is brilliant!

Giving it a fitting demon theme and making it a darkride with effects would sure be cool. Then the Schwarzkopf Monster Okti could leave its lonely place and go into the Maya Valley. That's actually a really cool idea, given the ride fits inside the station.
simon8899
^without knowing anything about engineering but remembering the indoor Dancer from Santa Cruz Broadwalk I guess the Dancer 3 they have should fit in easily. Could also do a new ride - like a Huss Booster. Just needs to be something that really stays "flat" during its ride - something like a Round-Up would surely not fit. As the building has a foundation that once held the huge rotating entry plattform it should be ready to put a ride onto it. Of course they could also turn it into a walkthrough ghosthouse as part of the queue.
Ed Farmer
The overall feeling reminded me of a flight I did on a glider/sailplane a few years ago. That's encouraging to read. The overall feeling of the 2 Wing Coasters that I've had the chance to ride so far reminded me of watching a POV on Youtube a few years ago of someone taking a flight on a glider/sailplane. Baby steps.
arpi
The scare-actors are only there at the preview time I heard. When the park opens there will be no "deamons" anymore.
BudtheWeiser
Looks great my only slight moan would be copying the trains from The Swarm but im guessing thats the standard alien/demon Wingcoaster design
