Yay! Back in business! Can't wait to see what Cedar Fair does to this awesome park!

EDIT: Wait! What is this? I paid a visit to Valleyhills.com, and it appears Batman: The Ride is now Ignition, Roadrunner Express is now Woodstock Express, S:UE is now Pulse, and the entire Looney Tunes area has been re themed. Also something is coming in 2005.....

Here's my prediction about what Cedar Fair is going to do with Valley Hills in terms of renaming the rides. The former Looney Tunes kiddie land would be renamed "Camp Snoopy", The Superman: Ultimate Escape coaster would be renamed to "Wicked Twister", Batman: The Ride would be renamed to "Blackhawk", Déjà Vu would be renamed to "Flip Side", Road Runner Express would be renamed to "Woodstock Express", Tweety's Twirl would be renamed to "Camp Snoopy Carousel".

P.S. don't make Valley Hills into another Geuga Lake!

I tried to omit as much generic-ness as possible.

Ah, it's part of the story. When you think the park is doomed, Cedar Fair saved the day! What an excellent twist. Hopefully, the park will be less mainstream and more traditional. I'm loving this park!

This park will return to it's roots, that's always been the plan. But with a modern twist.

This is the next generation of Valley Hills, numerous surprises await!

Yes, Coasters Restaurant!

I'm just hoping the we don't end up with a Geuga Lake-esque scenario where the park is turn into just a water park!

Hopefulyy, Cedar Fair puts some effort into this one. I would'nt like to see Valley Hills turn into the next GL.

Devin Smith - park spokesperson

New for 2005!

Coasters Restaurant

Coasters Restaurant is a popular restaurant among the Cedar Fair Parks, and we here at Valley Hills is proud to add this amazing eatery to our lineup of world-class cuisine. Coasters Restaurant is scheduled to open with the park in May 2005. The restaurant features classic inside dinning with a comprehensive kids' menu. Serving cheeseburgers, hamburgers, fries, onion rings, malts, shakes, root beer floats & soft drinks.

14486641715_0e753b71a1_o.jpg

Coasters Restaurant isn't the only change being made to the Valley. Multiple rides will receive a new branding this season under new names, themes and colors. Batman: The Ride will be re-themed into IGNITION, sporting an enhanced color scheme. Catwoman's Whip will be re-branded as Scrambler, and Camp Looney Tunes will be transformed into the friendly PEANUTS themed Camp Snoopy with all new names for its attractions. Superman: Ultimate Escape will undergo extensive maintenance, and is expected to re-open in July under its new Pulse moniker

We look forward to seeing you all on Valley Hills' 32nd annual opening day!

Test video.

Here is a crude sneak preview of season 33. As you can see, my Valley Hills is power-hungry so the park doesn't record well. It's the best I can do since the in-game recorder would take hours for the same amount of footage. I may consider doing more of these in the future, depending on how well this is received. Again, this was just a quick test. Enjoy!

You shoulda used the flying camera routes editor. It's a cheat name, I forget what it is. With a little work you can make really professional looking stuff, and it'll record frame by frame, so no lag.

The video had tons of lag. However, it is nice to be able to see your park in video format. Maybe you can make more of these if you really want to.

I was simply trying out something new.

In my opinion, this didn't really work out. The lag and cartoony RCT sounds kinda ruined the whole video. I would rather see the updates as pictures like before.

I was only testing the video capture's capabilities, so there was no editing involved.

Max Sherman (21) - IGNITION crew member

14505110316_8a112da3db_o.jpg

Valley Hills faced a unfortunate crisis last fall that potentially threatened to close the park for good. Fortunately, the City board members put their brains back on and agreed to work with Cedar Fair.

14527198932_4e54027fa1_o.jpg

Cedar Fair has already began repairs on the park's neglected infrastructure. An all new entrance has been built during the off season to allow faster processing. It looks pretty darn sexy if I do say so myself.

14527199012_1484ab111b_o.jpg

The entrance plaza even sports a few flags showcasing some of the parks attractions.

(entrance is only 90% finished, still missing turnstiles)

14505114396_d219ed9758_o.jpg

IGNITION is my favorite coaster at the park, and I was ecstatic to find out I'd be a crew member this season. You can just barely see its the lift through Black Stallion's.

14341648688_3ac7eb518f_o.jpg

Most won't care or notice that Parachute Tower received extensive maintenance during the off-season, and even received a fresh coat of paint.

14341619869_2047a4e0f5_o.jpg

Amusement Today's 16th best steel coaster, IGNITION!

14548351143_a6c7a291f5_o.jpg

The carousel turn is the only portion of IGNITION that provides a sensation of control. The rest of this coaster is pure adrenaline!

14524839871_a78c67aa25_o.jpg

RattleSnake was having a few complications with the brake run today. The train sat here (pictured) for roughly 8 minutes while the whole ride system reset, and then finally rolled into the station.

14524856771_b61be3c85e_o.jpg

Kid Town remained closed today, and has yet to open this season. Apparently Six Flags didn't file the proper paper work regarding permits to operate the rides located within Kid Town. Now Valley Hills / Cedar Fair has to go through all the legal work again to get the OK to operate the rides. Hopefully this doesn't make any families hesitate to visit, this could effect the park's finances quite a bit.

14341637879_bc4969b498_o.jpg

A beautiful skyline shot featuring; Valley Lift, ZER0, and Déjà Vu.

14341587280_6db69f7e9a_o.jpg

I didn't see too many guests ride Blackwater Falls today, it was only 75° with a slight breeze.

14341653818_584e0215f3_o.jpg

But that didn't stop guests from enjoying the famous Fish 'n' Chips from the Blackwater Lodge. This place is seriously one of the best vendors in the park! The sea-salted fries & smoked salmon is easily the best dish in the park. Although the price is a little off-setting. $9.99 is the starting price, with no condiments or a drink.

14341625089_7275213c23_o.jpg

Unfortunately, Pulse (formerly Superman: Ultimate Escape) was down all day. The entrance and exit paths were blocked off to the public, so I expect this one to undergo extensive maintenance for at least another month. I've heard that wind has a lot to do with this. The park engineers have been having numerous problems with the structure throughout the years, and rumor has it that an INTAMIN employee is on the scene to help with the issues. This must be serious.

14548373363_df1387ce1f_o.jpg

But all you footer enthusiast can rejoice with this footer porn!

14341590780_372b7cfbe6_o.jpg

Towering Inferno, Kanawha Railway, and Music Box; an awesome variety of rides that can only be found at Valley Hills.

14341591840_58c1b1d7e8_o.jpg

Kanawha Railway's swooping first drop of roughly 16 meters provides approximately 2.5 Gs, all while over the creek. A formidable family attraction in its own right, and quite a piece of history too. It's hard to imagine that this was once considered the meanest coasters in the park.

14341789327_a78cb65f21_o.jpg

Surprise, Surprise! Déjà Vu was up and running all day at full capacity, and without a single hiccup. I've never witnessed this coaster run so good. Kudos to Cedar Fair.

14527214512_56b128f2f2_o.jpg

The new Camp Snoopy now sports newly re-themed PEANUTS® attractions, including the Woodstock Express family wooden coaster.

14528226035_5bd6ac22e3_o.jpg

Across from Camp Snoopy is 2005's newly added Coasters Restaurant. The diner is decorated with real coaster track!

14528228385_c073ec0ded_o.jpg

The retro 50's themed interior complements the classic American cuisine.

14505132866_f811011d23_o.jpg

Coasters Restaurant was met with a large & eager crowd today. Another successful investment from the park, or I should say - Cedar Fair.

14341636789_5a05e4f635_o.jpg

Uncle Joe's Churro's has some unorthodox activity going on in its proximity. My guess is a possible expansion, although the Dippin' Dots guy from downtown told me it could be a new coaster. :/

14341640249_acb0f056f7_o.jpg

Dave Buick, a park mechanic, wanted me to share this photo of Black Stallion. Black Stallion received new wooden track on its twisted section during the off season. Cedar Fair is finally giving this coaster some much needed TLC. The rough track was beginning to outweigh the stupendous airtime on Amusement Today's #7 best wooden coaster.

14341673758_5d6a681791_o.jpg

Cedar Fair's Valley Hills is slowly transforming back into the lovely amusement park that many guests found absent during the Six Flags era. Another great start to a beautiful season at Valley Hills!

Max Sherman (21) - IGNITION crew member

14354231759_991dc7bbcf_o.jpg

Wild Waters was extremely popular today. The 88°F temperatures had everyone lining up for a cool refresher.

14354232329_03ebf27a70_o.jpg

The second half is pretty high above the midway with wonderful 360° views of the valley. The final splashdown at the end is my favorite part of this flume.

14354226579_5c6a4cb52a_o.jpg

Kanawha Railway is still a favorite amongst the families. The tunnel twists provide some crazy head choppers!

14539880292_cb9f6e8946_o.jpg

The ride features a breathtaking tunnel drop that ALWAYS catches everyone off-guard.

14539336234_7b70259f5f_o.jpg

The ride even features a mini-camelback hill during the finale. It's not that weak semi-floater air found on your standard family coaster either. It is arguably just as good as a hill on Black Stallion.

14354672100_f2d0cc5e00_o.jpg

The tallest ride in the park, ZER0. Still one kick a$$ ride!

14354212810_b8a9e90829_o.jpg

This ride continues to surprise me. Déjà Vu is once again down for the count, and has been since Monday. The ride was running spectacularly at the beginning of the season, but I should of known it was too good to be true.

14354278728_21344eb9c9_o.jpg

I've seen multiple mechanics working on the ride, and doing some very detailed work on the train. An official re-opening date is unknown at this time.

It's such a shame that Vekoma's one decent model experiences such frequent downtime.

14354275988_af8f9012e5_o.jpg

Fun fact: The Camp Carousel at Camp Snoopy was originally located at the current GreenBrier Grill site, and opened with the park in 1972 as Carousel. The ride closed in 1989 and went into storage until being re-introduced in 2000.

14517747916_90bdedf361_o.jpg

The interior of Coasters Restaurant is quite fitting for the 50's themed diner. This booth has a beautiful backdrop view of Apple Twists.

14354393387_0a4e3acd5a_o.jpg

Coasters Restaurant isn't he only sit-in restaurant Valley Hills has to offer though.

14354237229_a0ceec3081_o.jpg

GreenBrier Grill offers a delectable array of edibles ranging from chicken wings to pasta salad.

14354191180_3ba1561e89_o.jpg

Look at what we have here! Pulse finally made its debut with lines stretching outside of the cattle pen sweat-boxes.

Although I did notice it running a bit slower than usual today. Odd.

14539345584_f442679f69_o.jpg

The local businesses are receiving heavy foot traffic at the Valley Market. A lease to operate here costs $3k a week, plus 22% of revenue.

14560968693_6efcd77f38_o.jpg

But this shouldn't be an issue for the small businesses since Valley Hills provides the Mountaineer Wheel as a crowd draw.

14354208910_8256e478af_o.jpg

It looks like both the Dippin' Dots guy and I were wrong. It was only a bunch of lockers.

14354859007_79733682bb_o.jpg

They are all day lockers with a $5 deposit, and a $1 access fee. Loosing a key will result in a $15 fine, or they will withhold your belongings indefinitely. These lockers should become a cash cow for the park.

14560971053_24a273c4aa_o.jpg

I gave Parachute Tower a quick go this evening since the queue hadn't yet picked up for night rides. I also noticed Kid Town had closed early today. The area was rented out to some private party for the evening. I never knew the park did things like this.

14537464961_4957ed8727_o.jpg

Bonus material: West Virginia Turnpike postcard.

14560979383_a6d18bbbe2_o.jpg

Valley Lift closed temporarily today. The brief high winds may have given some relief to the scorching temperatures, but it also closed my mode of transportation. However, I did notice a few surveying stakes lying around the entrance. 2005 keeps getting better!

14354386447_fe1a80cdfb_o.jpg

Today, me and my girlfriends decided to take a trip to Valley Hills for one last hurrah before fall starts. We arrived at the park around 6 pm, and purchased a starlight ticket for $10 cheaper than regular admission. It's great that they don't make you pay full price if you come later in the evening.

14354201240_f76e6e0f0f_o.jpg

IGNITION was the first ride on our itinerary for the evening. This coaster is tall, fast, loopy and SCARY. This is one wild ride!

14543351102_9f60a45d5b_o.jpg

After our ride on IGNITION I was feeling lightheaded, and decided to snack on Uncle Joe's Churros.

The churros here are unmatched, so good!

14543347002_6f0eb9ddfa_o.jpg

I passed on Trout Spin as I ate my churros. My my girlfriend took a spin on it though. Pun intended.

14357964199_957c606d68_o.jpg

Next up was RattleSnake. I found this coaster to be somewhat awkward and jerky in some places, but it was an overall decent ride.

14537456911_e1af263ce4_o.jpg

Atop the Valley Lift awaits gorgeous skyline shots just begging to be captured.

14560965673_0138ddeab6_o.jpg

RattleSnake to the left.

14543356282_ffbc490c12_o.jpg

While exiting Valley Lift, my friend Keisha noticed a bunch of junk lying around in the woods. Slobs!

14357702558_dd1542e1e5_o.jpg

Seeing all the long lines for Barrel Blast & ZER0, my friends and I took a whirl on Woodstock Express.

We found this one to be very entertaining even though it's for the kiddies.

14521194246_c4b5c42e4b_o.jpg

Vortex was just like the vomit comet at the fair. Its big sparkling lights come alive at night, and offer spectacular night time rides.

14544282245_ef23cdbcfd_o.jpg

Music Box was easily my favorite ride of the evening. My favorite song was playing while we rode!

14357680999_fdc1381fd2_o.jpg

We ended the night with Towering Inferno. I tried to do the penny trick, but it ended up smacking me in the face.

14540843965_2fca36c84c_o.jpg

We had a blast today at Valley Hills. I will definitely be back next year.

I was really excited to hear about the Fluffy, Fluff Bunnies filled with Medicine and Goo!

Anyways, great update! I loved that skyline shot from the top of Valley Lift. Will Deja Vu be taken out any time soon? It sure seems like it, with the breakdowns and all. I hope it gets fixed.

I am beyond thrilled to see that Cedar Fair has bought this park! I can NOT wait to see what replaces Déjà Vu! I mean.. we all know it is going to happen! Keep up the amazing work! You are doing a great job!

This is the second set of lockers at Valley Hills. They're breeding.

Thanks for the feedback.

It appears that Sarah had a nice trip! The park looks wonderful as usual. I like the work that you did with Coasters restaurant. Not the best, but still very good. Keep it up!

I wanted to try something simple, yet eye-catching. Coaster's Restaurant fits that to a T. Well, at least that's what I think of it. >.<

How many fixes does it take to get a GIB up and running? The world may never know...

Thank you.

Devin Smith - Valley Hills spokesperson

The 2005 operating season officially came to a close last month, and now the numbers are in! Attendance rose 1% this season or 18,146 people. With a grand total of 1,832,712 visitors in 2005. Average in-park guest per capita spending also rose 6% or $2.35 this season, totaling $41.55 per guest. The season pass sales were also the strongest Valley Hills has seen yet. Also, Coasters Restaurant was received well by the public & was the highest earning vendor in the park this season. 2005 was a financial success for Valley Hills!

14552881031_3520591c84_o.jpg

Now that the off season has arrived, it's time to begin making preparations for next season.

Pulse is receiving some very heavy off season maintenance this year. Pulse's vertical twists have been removed!? (pictured)

I can't say much more about this, but your'e in for a big surprise in 2006. Stay tuned!

^DeJa Vu getting renamed/themed to something ending in "hawk"?

I just threw in the suggestion of renaming Valley Hills' giant inverted boomerang coaster to something other than "DeJa Vu" since the name is owned by Six Flags and Valley Hills is now under Cedar Fair ownership!
