thrillerman1
The baby Coke is so cute, and the drink bottles in the window add such a nice splash of color. I wonder if Coke ferments.

Nrthwnd
And then there was the time.... (Alcohol Invades The Kingdoms Magic) Â Disneyland Paris may have followers and critics alike, but there are two things that this (now) landmark Magic Kingdom gave to the rest of the Magic Kingdom Franchise.... Men's facial hair...and Booze. Â When DLP first opened in 1992, the locals went ape-nuts over the absolute lack of alcohol being served at even the counter service places in the park! It just wasn't "the French Way" to not have a glass of wine or beer with your meal, children included. Â Eventually, Disney actually bent the rules, and allowed it, and although EPCOT was in it's time serving alcohol in the World Showcase, alcohol in a Magic Kingdom had never happened before. But it started in Paris. Â The other thing was the male cast members at Disney Paris, finally won their right to maintain facial hair a thinner and shorter agreed upon length, and the women were allowed a bit more leeway with their use of makeup and jewelry. Time changes.... Â So - in 2007, to mark the 15th Anniversary of Disney Paris Resort, they came up with an Anniversary WINE, in white or red bottled with the DLP anniversary logo on it, etc. And the bottle itself was a killer in weight, being lead glass being so heavy with the wine in it...we had to drink the wine to make bringing home the bottle....lighter. Â And then in the TPR Europe Tour of 2008, I discovered this little stand near the New York Hotel selling not just fruit slushies in Alcohol and Non-, but in these nifty little bar shakers than even Minnie would approve of. Very cool. Â I also got a wine stopper in DLP. I don't remember seeing anywhere until DisneyParis. Here's the three alcoholic-related items in question. The easy one. Wine stopper, and NOT for a bottle of Mountain Dew! Wanna see some magic? Bang! The park's anniversary logo in front. And then.... Turn - and flash! The important legalizing stuff. How we found the wine, displayed in the Magic Kingdom shop. Maybe the Emporium? We picked the white. And we enjoyed it, with a nice home cooked chicken dinner...in Paris! And now - the Disney Approved Cocktail Shaker! It comes apart - to three parts - that's smart! Winnie Approved. And it's Dumbo-ed too! The all important measuring stuff, for you. Great shot of Mickey showing how the shakin's done. Where they sit in the window sill. Wait for more shaker fun!
gisco
Finally getting caught up on the thread. I like your Starbuck's cups but I get the full sized ones for my coffee in the morning! My Shanghai cup got chipped so I guess I have to go back!
Nrthwnd
^ I figured that was the case, but until you saw what I got, I wasn't too sure. Â Three BIG ONES from Disneyland Paris! Â Up until a particular Japanese 'resort' (Go Lava Monster!) entered my traveling life, going to Disneyland Paris was/is a real treat for me. I have visited it four times since 2002, and on the last three visits, I found that the resort had UPed the cup size and made their coffee mugs... BIG COFFEE MUGS. Â So I bought one in 2004, which just enlarged a similar design that was on the smaller cup I got in 2002. And in 2007, during the Resort's 15th Birthday, with a great embossed mug to buy. With rare characters on it too! 2008 was bought during the TPR Europe Tour, and went a decidedly more....pink. I did like how Eiffel was used on it, too. Here they are: 2004, 2007, 2008. The other side. Close up on the Tower, there. (2008) Really nice, this one is. (2007) The bottoms of, naturelment. The ONLY photo ever taken of me on a Dumbo ride! This was during one of the early entrys with breakfast in the park. So this was a walk-on, and I got the nice cast member to snap my happy mug. Nrthwnd
Six Flags Mexico ~ 2013 Ole! Â This mug is a pretty general mug, since none of the cities in the Six Flags franchise, are on the mug. So it's generic, but for myself, I'll know where I got it, and where I got it was in Mexico! (o: And SFM is where I also counted my #600 coaster. And that was MEDUSA, which has now gone through a re-tracking and re-design for new thrills and excitement. Â And more importantly, I turned 60 - after 6 days - after hitting coaster #600! That was cool. Â Can't wait to get back there in....2015 perhaps? It's a good sized hefty mug. Embossed.. With a few friends on the back of it. Sufferin' Sucotash! The bottom of the mug. And no, that does not spell G-O-D. This was #600 for me and I can't wait to get back and re-ride Medusa II. Jojo19799
Love the collection Bill. I ended up picking up a mug from La Feria. I still haven't used it. It's just sitting on my desk as a reminder of the trip. Â On my first trip to Disneyland, I picked up a shot glass, or I thought it was one. On my receipt it said "toothpick holder". Nrthwnd
^ Thanks Jo, and I did the same with my La Feria cup and spoon. Sitting on the window sill, waiting to be used, lol. But I still like the design of it, and of course it always reminds me of that great Mexico Tour! Â And now... Two Biggies from Hong Kong Disneyland (2012) Â These were bought during the TPR China Tour, after the new attraction, Grizzly Gulch Runaway Mine Cars had just open. The cast members at HKDL were so nice to us, and got us on all three coasters available in the park! It was great, and these were HUGE mugs to find! If you stack them together, I think you can make a stein out of them, heh. Â Hoping to get back there in a couple of years or so. And by the way.... Â Gong Xi Fa Cai and Gong Hey Fat Choy for This Year of The Horse! See? These mugs are GI-normous! Other side, same logo as the front on the left one. The back of the right one had nothing on it, but there was writing on it's handle. The bottom. Made where else? ---> Thailand! A little overhead view of the mugs. In HKDL with my STUPID IDIOTIC minions. They do stuff I would rather not be involved in.... Which gives me lots of time to relax, and enjoy my easy chair, here. Nrthwnd
We're right about at the end of it all, now. Just a couple more mugs to end the month, nicely... Â Tokyo Disney Resort Celebrates 30 Years! (2013) Â There was the "normal sized" coffee mug available, and I remember first picking it up at the Bon Voyage Gift Shop, outside the parks, thinking this was it for mugs. And THEN I saw this beauty! Â All for the "Happiness Is Here" theme of the Celebration. Lots of balloons on it AND rare characters that aren't seen too often on anything in the US. Here's how it looks, before the close ups. The handle and inside of the mug, all balloons and stuff! Lots of fave Disney characters on this one. And of course, The Main Couple in their 30th Anniversary Golds. Hey Goofy! Watch out for Dumbo up there! Pluto, hangin' on there. The Bottom. Ta-daaah! Random shot of the resort monorail with the Anniversary wrap. And Tokyo Disney Resort is for EVERY family! (o:
Nrthwnd
Forgot to add - here's the larger coffee rack, that holds the larger coffee mugs I have collected (and posted about) lately. With one spot left. And I am thinking I might find something to fill that spot, on the upcoming TPR Scandi Tour in June. Â Here's hoping. There they all are. On One - Big - Rack. Nrthwnd
Hee hee - just got a new plastic glass by way of a TPR "CarePackage Bag-O-Crap"! I got it early this morning, amongst "a few other things" in the box. Â It was part of a TPR sponsored Bash in 2012 at Six Flags Georgia. Cool! Â And just an add-on note here. If I get the odd new cup, mug, glass, etc.in any upcoming tours (Hello Scandi!) I will be sure to post about it/them here. And if any of you have any of this stuff in your theme park collection(s), please join in and share them! Â That being said, I changed the name of the thread to make it more ongoing. It's really nice with a cobalt blue inner part. And "45 Thrilling Years" (back then), on the bottom of it, there. Bash! Inside of it. Thanks TPR! Nrthwnd
hey everybody! Â I did have at least one more coffee mug to show you. While it's not exactly from a theme park, it was bought during our first trip ever, to Amsterdam, Paris, and the (then) 10 years old Disneyland Paris and the newly opened Disney Studios...at that time, a definite half day park. Â The mug was bought in Amsterdam near where the monument dedicated to all gay men and women is, beside a canal in the city. It's a lovely spot and the gift kiosk actually had all three mugs available, too! Which was nice. Â So - here's to the loves in our lives, be they a partner, family, friends, animal buddys, and the like. And most importantly - love yourself. Two guys, two gals, one of each, it's all good and awesome, right Minnie and Mickey??
Nrthwnd
Just realized, so I must share, lol..... Â One of the smaller mugs I got last summer in Tokyo Disneyland, had as one of it's drawings, something I realized I had bought as a cell phone charm. And it lights up, too! Â And by the way - feel free to share YOUR souvenirs mugs and cups right here. With photos too, if you can post them. See that lantern there, above Donald? And here's that little lantern, lit up, on my bulletin board. Close up. On/off switch on the bottom of it. (o:
Nrthwnd
"So, before he headed on, to Scandinavia..." Â Actually, I leave this Wednesday, to return to Northern Europe, and re-visit most of the parks, in the then 2009 TPR Scandi Tour. Â Very excited about this, but I just discovered there was at least one more mug or cup to share with you. And this one is certainly timely... Â Back in 2005, just as I was discovering Theme Park Review in it's (ahem) early days, a friend returned from a "Scandi tour" he had taken himself. Which included the all-important visit to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Â At the time, the new ride was Daemonen, just one year old from it's opening the previous year. Now having ridden this B&M Floorless, I must say that this is The Tightest Circuit I have ever experienced on such a coaster! It was awesome and totally scary at the same time, LOL! Â But when he returned back home here, he gave me this cup he had bought and used at Tivoli, and saved it for me, because he knew I'd like it. Â And - I did! Like it! But who knew this would be a sort of premonition of any possible visit to Tivoli myself? Â And now I am about to make my second visit there, to Tivoli. And Daemonen again. Â Have a great summer, everybody! So here's Daemonen on a nice Big Sized beverage cup. Circa 2005. (o; Lots of writing on the back of it, but sadly (for myself) all in Danish. )o: Closer view of the front. This also made me think - maybe my friend got BEER in it, hmm? Swede
Nice collection Nrthwnd and welcome to Scandinavia next week! I picked up an orange "drink all you want" mug at SFGAdv last Tuesday when I was in your country. If you are not to tired or arrive to late in Copenhagen on Thursday you should make an early start of the Scandi-Tour and sneak in to Tivoli and say happy birthday to Rutschebanen who turns 100 years old then. I'll be there from 09:00 'till it closes.
Nrthwnd
....Rutschebanen who turns 100 years old then. Â Does the coaster turn 100 on June 12th??? Wow, I wish I could be there for that, but that is my arrival day, and there are other plans for the evening. A steak dinner at the Tivoli Steakhouse, lol. For a number of us. And the group won't really be visiting the park until the weekend. But still... Â Yes! Most of us in the tour all know about this wonderful scenic railway's 100th Birthday, and the re-building they did, to re-create that mountain range in the original coaster! Â And we are ALL looking forward so much, to riding it, and for some of us, it will be a re-visit to one of everybody's favourite scenic railway coasters. Â Can't wait! The whole re-design of the coaster's facade looks awesome! (Artwork from Tivoli - and pardon for it's size.)

Nrthwnd
^ Uh, train strike? Â I had planned to get from the airport on Thursday, to our tour hotel by way of the train to the main station, right by Tivoli.... Â Is there a strike on, to prevent this from happening? Swede
^ Uh, train strike? I had planned to get from the airport on Thursday, to our tour hotel by way of the train to the main station, right by Tivoli....  Is there a strike on, to prevent this from happening?  Well, the trains don't run from Malmoe to Copenhagen over the bridge now and the other way around. When I got back from the U.S. on Thursday I had to take a bus from the airport. However I THINK it only affects the Swedish leg of train tracks and that you can take the train from Kastrup in to Copenhagen.  EDIT: Just checked it for you and the train does go from the airport to Copenhagen. Just not to Sweden.
Nrthwnd
^ Understood, thank you for letting me know. The last time I was there I did take the train over the bridge, through Malmo to a country side town where my friend lived/s.
