I think I just found Robb's worst nightmare!

Recommended Posts

*Bravely Steps Up*

Greetings all!

As one of the aforementioned "bronys" I would like to say a few words (before I leave shortly as I must travel to the mall where I shall partake in extended eye contact with strangers).

I like the show. I find it very entertaining. However, I own no merchandise whatsoever *kicks dolls under table as I type*.

Now that I have established myself as a no-T-shirt wearing non-doll owning extremist I shall now attempt my sales pitch to all of you as to why liking the show is acceptable even though I am far from the target demographic....

...What? You still think it's weird? Fine then! Even though this forum revolves around a completely different subject matter, I shall talk about ponies in every thread! And when you all express your annoyance, I shall rant about acceptance and whatnot! Ha! Take that!

In all seriousness though, I do watch the show, but after seeing the antics of a lot of the adult fan base, I usually just keep things to myself pony-wise. Sure I'll discuss things with a circle of "brony lite"** friends of mine, but none of us wear shirts or own dolls or anything creepy like that. I do not condone the creepers nor do I associate myself with them. As strange as it sounds, while being a fan of the show, I share the same feeling as a lot of those who dislike the fandom.

**See what I did there? I said "lite"!!! Now that I've used this term to differentiate myself from the creepers, you guys can think of me as normal even though I watch a little girls show! Right you guys?.......

You guys?......

Right?!?!!?

Damn.... I never heard of these folks before reading this thread. They say it is good the learn something new everyday. However this is one that I hope I witness an alien tonight so that "The Men in Black" come to erase my memory for the day.

On a side note as Robb was pointing out. It makes it hard when you have a young daughter who actually is interested as should be. My 7 year old daughter has had one of these in my house for months that she carries around. I left it out when she is not here and now wondering who seen it with just me in the house while I never even paid attention to it when she was not with me.

EDIT: Saw some posts after I submitted my response and was directed at the perverted ones. After all I like watching Spongebob with my daughter. when she is not with me, I sometimes keep it on when flipping through TV since I think it is funny to watch them annoy Squidward. I think it is better than Duck Dynasty in my opinion.

I have a friend who keeps trying to convince me to join the brony community. Even the idea creeps me out.

Maybe Dateline NBC should do a story about the more crazy bronies... Like the ones Robb mentioned.

There's an actually "Brony community"????

I didn't even know all this Brony stuff existed until I saw a show about it was going to air on Logo.

I'll step out of the shadow and second this notion. I've enjoyed the show myself (Though I haven't caught up on the latest season at all, and I'm in no rush; It's just a show). I have done small doodles of my own version of characters from the show, along with other various cartoon drawings I still do; both fan-art and original. Apart from the only show-related merchandise I own, this is as far as it goes for me.

I make it very, very clear that I do not associate myself with the "bad apples" of the group. Having bumped into certain parts of the community myself (^yeah, they exist. I don't recommend it.), I'm just as frightened about many aspects of it as many of you all are.

I lost one of my friends to the brony community. Seriously I walked into the bathroom at my school and caught him masturbating with a my little pony doll. It's really disgusting.

I don't have a problem with the ones that watch the show, but the ones that completely obsess over it and do creepy stuff like I said above, those ones creep me out.

Excuse me, I need to go stare at myself in the mirror and weep uncontrollably.

I'm not trying to be rude but I'm starting to think people just don't read anymore. This is what Robb said...

The people in that video are doing their own thing at their own event. I'm fine with that.

It's when they start doing stuff in a public environment where there are children around that don't understand that some of these people go home and draw pictures of their ponies f**king and they jerk off to that is what bothers me.

You don't need to pitch to us about why you think it's acceptable to like the show because the general consensus is that nobody cares what you watch as long as you're not creepy around children and start conversations with them about the show. Nobody thinks it's unacceptable to like the show. We may think it's weird but I we don't think it's unacceptable.

That entire first part of my post was meant as a joke, mocking a lot of the creepy, overzealous members of the fandom. I feel like it was pretty clear, but if it wasn't, I apologize. (I do watch a show for little girls, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was something wrong with the ol' noggin).

I have yet to encounter some in public, as Robb pointed out, but do know the schools now have kids putting together clubs to watch My little pony during the lunch hour or after school instead of the normal thing (sports, video games, drinking, etc). Lots of high school, college and older adult "clubs" that tend to show up from time-to-time can totally make folks uncomfortable and really weird - what happened to the LAN parties and all the amazing times playing Counterstrike and TF2?!

I still think some Hentai I saw while in Japan was interesting, however I could never say the same thing about all this excessive love for ponies, being an extreme Brony in public with stuffed animals, or going to the extreme of getting into Brony porn.

As a former brony, I really need to say that the real bronies are the ones who hide their power level in public. The ones who subtly bring it up in everyday conversaton to see if their close friends are one. The ones who peacefully discuss the show on imageboards designated for the show and nothing else. Real bronies don't let anybody know that they watch the show except for the ones they meet in private. Most of the true ones keep it as anonymous as they can.

The ones that outright bring their Fluttershy plushie to their college, break out into songs from the show whenever they see their friends, and sport pony t-shirts on a bi-daily basis are NOT.

They are autistic sperglords who write fetish fanfiction for the show and are looked down by the rest of us.

I am a former for the reasons that I detest being associated with the social stereotype, and to be honest, the show completely went to shit recently. The direction got moved to some random bloke who didn't understand the charm of the first couple seasons.

The show doesn't even deserve the fandom anymore, and most of my friends have jumped ship already. The ones who haven't are slowly slipping into the routine of jerking off to clopfics.
