FreeFaller
Hey guys! Are you ready for some OKTOBERFEST and GERMAN BEER AWESOMENESS? YES? Then, this is the trip report to look at, because... Yesterday, I made my way to Munich to visit the world famous German OKTOBERFEST! For those of you who don't know, it's a HUGE fair with plenty of tents, plenty of beer and plenty of random flat rides and coasters! It's absolutely AMAZING! Whenever you have the chance to come to Germany, go to one of our fairs! They're just AWESOME! Oktoberfest is famous for its BEER! That's just a matter of fact Almost all the German guys and girls dress up in their costumes and so called ''Dirndl'' and ''Lederhosen (some sort of leather trousers), go to Oktoberfest and drink a LOT of beer! They party a lot and enjoy life! It's really traditional! Furthermore, you can see masses of drunk people laying around and throwing up! That's just a matter of fact, too and completely normal there! Since it was too cold, I didn't dress up in my traditional Oktoberfest costume, but you will see a lot of people in my photos who did! I just went there with my parents because they wanted me to see something else than the library at university. So it was a kind of family trip! We arrived early in the morning, because if you want to go inside a tent, you definitely should arrive by 8 or 9 am, otherwise the tents will be closed due to filling up! You're right! All the people q up hours BEFORE the tents open just to get a spot in there! Welcome to Oktoberfest! Since it was a national holiday in Germany (Reunion of Germany), Oktoberfest was TOTALLY crowded! More than half a million visitors! Oktoberfest is pricey, too! First of all, it's Munich and Munich is one of the most expensive cities here in Germany! Secondly, it's Oktoberfest and people just pay for all that good stuff! A litre of beer cost 9,75 € ($13) and all the rides were around $10! But that's just how it is here The weather was just beautiful, no rain and no clouds! Nevertheless it was quite cold for October! 14 degrees Celcius! Later the day, they had to close the subway station due to overcrowding! As I've already mentioned, there were hundred thousands of people coming to the fair! I definitely hope that TPR is coming to Munich in 2015! Just imagine, drinking beer and partying with TPR members in one of those tents! That would definitely be an EPIC trip! If you guys offer that trip, sign up for it, you won't regret it! Oktoberfest is just amazing With that being said, enjoy some German Oktoberfest AWESOMENESS! On our way to Oktoberfest! Plenty of people did so as well! So many little booths! Food wherever you look! More food options! This is how it looks like after an Oktoberfest party night! First tent! 9 am in the morning! Tents are filling up! People are partying wherever you look! Yummy, some German Pretzels! Oktoberfest souvenirs! You definitely have to buy some hearts! Nice souvenirs! More tents! Mhhhh nice chicken! Hofbräu! More pretzels! Here we go! Party! Wiesn Burger Nice candles! People waiting for more BEER! My favorite tent! More souvenirs? I made it! Delicious food booths! larrygator
I can't believe how this Octoberfest thing has completely ripped off Busch Gardens by copying their theme.
Jew
I wish I remembered more about my Oktoberfest experience... What I do remember was that it was the best party atmosphere I had ever experienced. Thanks for the great photos!
mattnz
Nice TR Marcel - ONE day I will get to Oktoberfest. It is weird seeing you drink beer though. You're not 21!

Kyle Coleman
Looks like a great time and now I could go for a beer for some reason. Just curious, what were the wait times on Olympia looping with such huge crowds?
simon8899
Great pics! So far I've always avoided Munich at Oktoberfest mainly because a room at a 2** hotel that normally is around €70 at this time of year cashes in at about €240. But a colleague of mine from our Munich office recommended to book a hotel in Nuremberg or Regensburg and take the local express train to Munich. Maybe do that some time in the future. On the other hand a carnival like Rheinkirmes which I visited this year the rides area is nearly as big an I could stay a tram ride away in a nice 3*** hotel for €60 a night. And the tents are honestly no major drag for me... One always has to stockpile the money to visit the huge US parks...
tanthonyam
That freefall tower is HUGE!! Just wondering if you can pick your seat on Olympia Looping or they assign seats?
PKI Jizzman
Lovely photo TR! Really interesting to see all they have to offer there. I've heard about how massive the place is. High Energy looks absolutely crazy. And so does the free fall tower. Cincinnati has the 2nd largest Oktoberfest...I still haven't been to Hofbräuhaus in Cincy yet. I need to go. gerstlaueringvar
Wow! Olympia Looping looks massive! So does the crowd... Looks like a great event and definitely would go there someday. Is there any time that there is not crowded?
simon8899
Just wondering if you can pick your seat on Olympia Looping or they assign seats? In my experience it depends on how long the line is and how clever you are. If the ride is packed and seats are free ride attendents sometimes make you ride the free seat - of course you can let others go first to at least get into front, middle or back. The advantage on other carnivals is that on weekdays the crowds are low and the train has to wait to be filled up so you can always ride back seat - as is my preference. kailisun98
How's Olympia Looping holding up? Is it a little over-trimmed?
FreeFaller
Nice TR Marcel - ONE day I will get to Oktoberfest. It is weird seeing you drink beer though. You're not 21! HAHA! Here in Germany you're allowed to drink beer and wine with the age of 16! Liquor when you're 18! Looks like a great time and now I could go for a beer for some reason. Just curious, what were the wait times on Olympia looping with such huge crowds? Go for a beer! Since I rode Olympia Looping in the morning, crowds were not too bad and I could choose any seat! Most people queued up for the front row. Therefore there was no q for the back seat! That freefall tower is HUGE!! Just wondering if you can pick your seat on Olympia Looping or they assign seats? You actually could choose your seat! Later the day, when q's were totally full, you could choose your seat as well, but you had to wait! The thing you normally do is q-ing up and just go wherever you think it is right For example, the wild mouse had CRAZY wait times, because the carnies did not fill the seats! There were cars with two persons or only one person! Yeah, the place is quite huge! If you want to go on a German Fair with the BIGGEST selection of rides you have to go to Stuttgart. The fair is called Wasn! Oktoberfest has a lot of rides, too, but not as many as Stuttgart has Wow! Olympia Looping looks massive! So does the crowd... Looks like a great event and definitely would go there someday. Is there any time that there is not crowded? Normally not I mean, people come from all over the world! It's crowded every day. Not as much as on weekends but still crowded! People even take some days off just to go there.
simon8899
^^No, runs fine as always... HAHA! Here in Germany you're allowed to drink beer and wine with the age of 16! Liquor when you're 18! And that is at times not even strictly enforced...
oriolat
Great TR Marcel! I should hit Oktoberfest soon as I live not too far from Germany. Everything about it looks so much fun, from tents to rides. My only question is, where was Alpinabahn this year? I thought that both Schwarzkopfs would make it to Oktoberfest in Munich, not just Olympia...
FreeFaller
^They were both at Oktoberfest. I just noticed that I forgot to upload a photo of it! So, here's a photo just for you Alpina Bahn- Oscar Bruch!

WildStangAlex
Great Photos and Trip Report! It is my goal to get to München for Oktoberfest some day. I look forward to the Hofbräu tent, as I have been to a couple of the Hofbräuhaus breweries in the States, and I am in love with their beer. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us!
Nrthwnd
I love the funhouses and dark rides of these Oktoberfests. And pretzels! Now this is the size and thickness to make them! A piddly little franchise here, puts them out as thin as (ugh) toothpicks. That alone I would visit for. The pretzels, lol. Thanks for the great report!
