The Knott's Berry Farm (KBF) Discussion Thread

P. 630: Knott's Scary Farm 2021 mazes and shows revealed!

Recommended Posts

Starbucks? This seems, well, uninteresting. At least it's not Panda Express at the Ghost Town area.

I'm going to go out on limb by saying that I don't think they are trying to be interesting by adding a Starbucks...It's going to make them a fortune.

As much as I cringe at their highly marked up prices outside of theme parks. Your right. Hands down the profits from a Starbucks are going to be huge!

I personally don't care for Starbucks but I think the park is smart for bringing the franchise into the park. Profits will speak for themselves.

DLR has a Starbucks backstage for CMs and even with the discount we receive they are still making a considerable profit.

I'm ultimately waiting for a park to build an In-N-Out!

I'm not sure if it is a Starbucks that is coming to the park. The location is the old candy store outside Cordelia's facing the large fountain. The canopy says "Gourmet Coffee Hut" so it may be the park's own brand. Either way, it should be a popular stand when it opens.

Maybe they will be serving Starbucks coffee along with Knott's own pastries? Anything could happen.

Did they mention animatronics at the announcement?

Not that I saw, but I haven't watched the full announcement yet! I'm just going off of what I've seen from different people on facebook- seems like it was all images, and an animation preview of one of the pufferfish (which was then posted to KBF's facebook/instagram).

Starbucks won't allow that if it is a full starbucks.

I was there for the season pass holder event at Knott's. I was lucky enough to run into some friends from Knott's network. We were there when they did the snow and glow on Ghost town for the very first time and the crowd was very pleased. It was a very nice touch. We then saw the first showing of the new Merry Christmas Snoopy Ice show. I liked it. If you get a chance to go up in the sky cab at night you will see a wonderful view of Ghost town with all it's lights. I really enjoyed the woman who played JT for Lucky's Wish list at champ snoopy Theater, as she has an angelic voice. The Calico Carolers were in fine voice. I missed the tree lighting as we could not be everywhere for the season pass holder event. They have other things going on this holiday season so stop by if you get a chance.

This is an interesting read from Triotech's Website: http://www.trio-tech.com/triotech-lands-the-largest-contract-in-its-history/

TRIOTECH LANDS THE LARGEST CONTRACT IN ITS HISTORY BY SIGNING AN AGREEMENT WITH CEDAR FAIR ENTERTAINMENT

The company also wins two prestigious Brass Ring Awards at the International Amusement and Attraction Parks Association Tradeshow

Montreal, November 27, 2014 – TRIOTECH, a world leader in the multimedia interactive attractions industry, is proud to announce that it has just landed the largest contract of its history by signing an agreement with the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company owner of eleven attraction and theme parks in North America. The Montreal company, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, has just been mandated for the design and production of an impressive Interactive Dark Ride attraction for Cedar Fair’s Knott’s Berry Farm theme park in Los Angeles, California.

Christened Voyage to the Iron Reef, the attraction will be designed and produced in Montreal and will enable visitors to enjoy an interactive 3D experience complemented by 4D effects. “It will be like being on a ride, watching a movie on giant screen and playing a video game… all at the same time”, said Eric Marradi, Artistic Director for TRIOTECH.

This is the second time that TRIOTECH has worked with Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which also owns Canada’s Wonderland, where TRIOTECH designed and installed the Wonder Mountain’s Guardian attraction last May. In fact, that ride was responsible for TRIOTECH recently winning the prestigious Brass Ring Award for best new product in the Major Theme-Amusement Park Ride category, at the International Amusement and Attraction Parks Association Tradeshow, held from November 17 to 21 in Orlando, Florida. The Montreal company also took home the jury’s Impact Award which is granted to the new product which will have to biggest positive impact on the industry’s future.

“We are proud that TRIOTECH is now recognized as a world leader in the interactive attractions industry. This second major contract from Cedar Fair Entertainment Company allows us to strengthen our increasingly dominant position on the market and motivates our team to surpass customers’ expectations and push the limits of the guest experience in attraction parks. Our team includes over one hundred animation, 3D, engineers, software development experts and other specialists,”, commented Ernest Yale, President and CEO of TRIOTECH.

Passengers climbing aboard the four-seat vehicles for Voyage to the Iron Reef will have to use their freeze-guns to protect the theme park from scary underwater creatures that eat the steel from the rides and threaten to destroy everything in sight. TRIOTECH collaborated with Cedar Fair’s Los Angeles team for the scenario and universe, and is solely responsible for the interactive content, special effects, projections as well as the project’s integration. Voyage to the Iron Reef will open its doors in the spring of 2015 and will be fun for visitors of all ages.

“Like other attractions in the park such as Timber Mountain Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef provides great importance to storytelling”, pointed out Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice-President and General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm. « However, the unique technology provided by TRIOTECH will propel visitors into the most modern multi-sensory experience. »

Voyage to the Iron Reef attraction is a cornerstone of TRIOTECH’s major achievements over the past year. The company is finalizing the implementation of two more Interactive Dark Rides, one at the Hello Kitty Park in Shanghai and the other in Istanbul, Turkey. TRIOTECH is also working on other confidential large scale projects not only in the U.S., but also in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

15 years already!

For the past 15 years, TRIOTECH has continued to make its mark on the world stage with leading edge technology, exciting products and innovative content. The company got off the ground by manufacturing video games with simulators for arcades and now sets itself apart with a wide range of products: Interactive Dark Ride, XD Dark Ride, XD Theater, Interactive Cinema, along with the Typhoon simulator for arcades. Also, its XD Dark Ride interactive theater, which was honored last year at the IAAPA Tradeshow, is now in operation at Colossus Laval following a successful summer on the La Ronde site.

^ I love seeing companies like this do well! Soon we may see Trio-tech rides all over the place. Too bad they're a privately held company

Im not sure what the problem is here?

Looking forward to seeing a new generation of dark rides coming to cedar fair and six flags parks! I hope they dont just stop at 1 per park. As Disney and Universal have proven, the sky's the limit when it comes to dark ride attractions
