What I said wasn't a critique of the rides but the artwork itself - color choices, execution - isn't very appealing.

 

Honestly, we really don't know what color scheme the rides will be. Knott's has two concept arts by Riptide with one of the concept arts not being on the internet. One concept art shows Coast Rider with orange track and white supports while the other concept art shows Coast Rider with yellow track and blue supports. So, nobody knows what Coast Rider will really look like. Though, I think the area will look really nice.

As long as the rides have low height requirements (which I doubt, since this is Cedar Fair we are talking about), that is all families will care about.

 

Yeah, not going to lie...Cedar Fair height restrictions are pretty bad. Has the height requirement for Coast Rider come out yet? I mean, KT can already ride that mouse at several parks around the country and world, it would be a shame if she can't ride the Knott's one at West Coast Bash.

I bet Coast Rider will have a 48 inch height requirement to ride.

Technic Coaster (Legoland California) has a 42" height requirement, so hopefully Coast Rider will have a 42" height requirement.

Does anyone know what the height restrictions are for the other mouses in other CF parks? Like the Ricochets and Fly?

Psycho Mouse at CGA permits 44" riders if accompanied by a responsible adult.

44-54 inches on Ricochet if accompanied with an adult as well. Seems like this is probably what the height restriction for Coast Rider.

Things like height restrictions are usually set by the manufacturer.

Not sure if this is old news, but according to today's Knotts newsletter Coast Rider and the other new boardwalk attractions are scheduled to open on Memorial Day, along with the refurbished log ride.

The Fly at CW was the same if I recall correctly. Seems like a reasonable height requirement for the ride.

I highly doubt they'd allow the marathon on such a low-capacity coaster in its opening (and probably most popular) year. You'd pretty much have to close the coaster for the day.

I've done Coasting for Kids the last 2 years at Knott's, their info always is among the last to be made available. I'd be shocked if there is riding on anything other than Jaguar for Coasting for Kids.

 

But you are always free to take breaks to ride other stuff. I'm sure there will be some of us going over to get our Coast Rider credit when the park opens. LOL.

^ Well it was just a guess, and that's pretty good that the ride will be Jaguar, should be fun, as I am participating this year with two friends from school

I live and Florida but have never been. To knotts but I wanted to know has anyone ever been on the perilous plunge? Was it a good ride because it goes almost vertical. It looks insanely cool. Did you think they should of gotten rid of it?

^ It was the roughest water ride I've ever ridden, and with it's painfully slow load times and horrible reliability. I don't think anyone is really that sad to see it go.

^And by painfully slow, he means 10-15 minute cycle times due to having only one boat. The drop was scary, but similar to other really steep coasters.

I remember when it first opened, seeing pictures of the water from the flume going down people's shirt as opposed the the actual flume because that drop was so steep. They fixed that real quick. I wonder how they did, maybe a reduction in the amount of water?

It was a decently fun ride. The drop was good, the airtime was nice...and that's about it. The capacity was awful (10 minute dispatches per 24 person boat) and the bottom of the drop got really rough.

 

Was it fun? Yeah. Was it worth waiting more than one boat for it? No.

I would say that in its original incarnation, it was the best flume ride around. Insane airtime off the drop and you got completed drenched. Even had decent capacity with all the boats running and just lapbars.

 

After the unfortunate accident---the ride sucked, since they never found a good way to modify the boats.

^ Yeah, very true. It was amazing pre-accident. I usually hate water rides but loved it when it was new. Post mods, I would say I get about the same trill from Jurassic Park's drop and that is an all around much better ride.

The drop was amazing but it was very painful.

Maybe this so-called pain existed later on in the rides life, I never experienced any of it. I always loved PP, but it did go downhill after the OTSRs were installed. The way the water fell off of the drop track was really intimidating, and you got DRENCHED. Also, there were these little slots in the boats that you could stick your feet into and they kept your shoes dry so it was great getting completely drenched and not having nasty shoes and socks

 

And as others have mentioned, it had airtime. Being in SoCal, we take what we can get!
