P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Recommended Posts

Well unless we're talking about a giga, they could add a thrilling new coaster without touching Ghost Town.

There are so many ways to add roller coasters in small areas, I'm surprised we're even having this conversation.

Look no further than what Hershey did with Skyrush.

Seeing as the assumption at this point that should they be adding adding a new coaster to replace PP it will be a B&M, might I voice my opinion and say I wouldn't mind seeing a dive coaster go in. While this doesn't really mesh with the rumors that the project was going to be an Intamin before going to B&M, the only two dive coasters in the US are on the east coast, and both at the Busch parks. It would be nice to see one open here on the west coast.

I wouldn't mind that either. Seeing videos and pictures of Griffon and Sheikra make me wish something like that would come to the west coast. Whatever it is, I just hope it's something at least a little thrilling.

I've always been fascinated by dive coasters and wouldn't mind one either. And they could easily fit it in just the place of PP!

I made a VERY ROUGH sketch of how they could use the land of Boomerang and KOD were removed. While making it I could have easily not used Boomerang's area of the KOD area....

^Ummm... I'm pretty sure that would be the park's answer even if they weren't going to add a new coaster. I wouldn't expect them to reveal major business decisions at a coaster enthusiast Q&A.

Yeah, but if they say "can't get into that" then there could be something to get into.

Even though, I have to admit that is one of the roughest sketches I have seen ( ), I think a Dive Machine would work in Knott's as they are pretty compact, pack a lot of thrills, and are intense, as I've heard. Plus, the GP will eat it up faster than GateKeeper as the GP probably never seen a ride similar to this in their lifetime. Also, they are generally cheap for their size ($15 million is Griffon's price tag claims RCDB). So, I can see a Dive Machine like Krake replacing PP or be in the near future, but I'm still hoping for a giga.

Ummm... The KOD "area" is more than just the abandoned ride. It's also a high capacity eatery and an arcade. No reason to tear those down for a new coaster.

Also, B&M Dive Machines take up a MASSIVE space. (Not counting Krake as that's a mini dive machine)

I knida Hope that they take down Pony Express and release more room for the coaster there. Pony Express is fun but the pain is to much to sacrafice for the short ride.

by the way, happy National Roller Coaster day!!!!!!

Pony Express is the park's newest coaster, and it takes up a very small plot of land. Why on earth would they remove it for a Giga coaster that would most likely be situated in a completely different are of the park?

Ugh, I swear...do people even think before they post?

Pony Express may be a new coaster but to be brutally honest, Its to short for more ways than one for the sacrifice and that can be perfect for the bottom of the drop of the giga and the turn. It can also make way for a good low to ground twisting bit at the end. Lots can be done if you you actually think about it

^^So yu are basically saying they should remove a relatively new multi million dollar ride for no reason other than because you don't know how to properly brace yourself on it and because you think a Giga's tournaround would fit there?

Well Pony Express has to be the worst coaster ever added to Knotts's besides Windjammer so the land might actually be better served for a great ride instead of a mediocre one.

Wow, thank you to whoever brought up the idea for the dive machine. Conidering the only ones in the US are in Virginia and Florida.... it would not only be a sweet addition for Knott's but for the western United States!

But while this is a very educated guess there has sadly been no signs of the Knott's management seeming interested in one of these babies

I don't think I need to say anything else....

I think a Dive Machine would have to be pretty compact to fit in the space Perilous Plunge sits in. Here's a mock up I made using Google Earth, using the same height above the earth on each dive machine (Sheikra and Griffon) as the height above the Perilous Plunge site, so it should be to scale.

If they were to add something the size of Griffon (to scale):

Or maybe something along the lines of Sheikra (to scale):

So all-in-all, it seems doable (if it were to be a compact design).
