Nobody knows exactly what Knotts is going to do, how can you be so specific eight years out?

It is for what it is. Six inversions in a minute. Three backwards.

 

There's plenty of other coasters that put riders through six inversions in a minute, and are much less painful and terrible.

I haven't been on it in since 1999. That was also the last time I was at Knott's until last year and it was down then.

I have an idea of what Knotts could do to really improve their park:

 

2017: Remove Boomerang and adjacent buildings. With Riptide, Boomerang, and the adjacent buildings gone, put in a Hyper G-TX in its place with a dual stations for added capacity. To go with the boardwalk section, call it Riptide Racer and give it a surfing theme. Move boomerang to a park that needs a new coaster *cough* Michigan's Adventure *cough*

 

2018: Add a couple flat rides. An Enterprise (Like the one at Six Flags Over Texas) and Troika would work great. If there was room I would also like to see a Pipe Scream style ride. The Troika can replace the Wave Swinger in Fiesta Village. And the Enterprise could replace the barely used stage in Fiesta Village or the Wheeler Dealer Bumper Cars

 

2019: Time for Another Dark ride. Combine Windseeker's and Jaguar's location to build the ride. construct a themed extension building in Windseeker's queue. Use the bottom floor for the line, and the top floor for the ride. Make it like Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin, have it wind through the temple in various scenes. Have it be themed to a ferocious jaguar that has been awakened by treasure hunters entering the temple. Use things like faux fire, smoke, and projected screens to simulate being chased as you try and escape the temple. You can put things like falling boxes and other things to help fill the space, and it wouldn't hurt to maybe have a couple of animatronics.

 

2020: Planet Snoopy addition with a couple rides and a revamp of their current kids show. Be jealous of Cedar Point's 150th anniversary addition, which will certainly be super awesome.

 

2021: Send Pony Express to a park that needs a new roller coaster. Put a Mack Family Multi-Launch in its place. Have it go all over Ghost Town and give it a tunnel

 

(My next prediction for a rollercoaster would be either a Wooden Warrior style coaster, or a smaller GCI in 2023 or 2024)

1) Wave Swinger is extremely popular. It's not going anywhere.

2) The Fiesta Stage is used a lot more than you think.

3) Those buildings adjacent to Boomerang contain a very popular and profitable ballroom, an employee break room, locker room, and cafeteria, guest restrooms, several food outlets, ride offices, and the Calico Mine Ride

4) Or since Boomerang is very old just scrap it for cash and then sell Michigan Adventure.

5) Remove Pony Express, sell it for scrap, and leave that space empty. Plus a coaster going all over Ghost Town would destroy Ghost Town.

6) It's Camp Snoopy, but I agree on the new attractions.

7) Do you realize the bumper cars are under the theater ramp? It would have to be a literal flat ride.

8) Jaguar! the coaster is currently using its own temple. You can't use it for your dark ride.

9) Where would your new wooden coaster go?

1) I didn't know that the Wave Swinger was extremely popular, as whenever I visit, its seems dead

2) Also something I was not aware of, as I've only seen it been used once

4) That is a viable point too, I was looking at it as a way that Cedar Fair would save money and give Michigan's Adventure a new ride

9) I was thinking behind Bigfoot Rapids and the Mystery Lodge, but I could easily see them not doing the Mack Multi-Launch, getting rid of Pony Express and putting it there.

Hey throwing ideas around is how things happen. Not knocking you. But Jaguar! also is not going anywhere. It's a very very popular family coaster. And during the summer Wave Swinger is quite a swinging ride. Also, there is a massive warehouse and other backstage areas behind Bigfoot and Mystery Lodge. They would have to be moved. Go back to page 1049 of this thread and you'll see and idea I posted for a massive expansion that involves doing just that. You are correct about the bumper cars, it just seems like they are beneath, but they are also just popular enough to not go anywhere. Besides they fit the theme of that area too well.

Is there any ride at KBF that you don't think is extremely popular?

 

Modern engineering can make almost anything possible if KBF wants to build something extremely ambitious. I don't think any space in the park is off limits except for Ghost Town based on what seems to be the emphasis on preserving history.

Pony Express has always had a line in my experience unless the park is completely dead, in which case Xcelerator is even a walk-on. Sky Cabin may not get huge lines but it's constantly got a flow of people. Dragon Swing, Hat Dance, and the other flats in that area are also consistent with people riding. Just because there's not a huge line out the gate doesn't mean they're not popular. If the ride was open but not cycling because nobody is willing to ride, that's when there's a problem.

^^You posted a long explanation about why none of what the guy posted is feasible.. I am just pointing out the fact that *IF* KBF wanted to do any of those, modern engineering/architecture would make it possible to fit in a ride and the proper space necessary for events, offices, etc.

Hey, this is based on my experiences from last year so some things might be out of date, but I was looking around for information about Flash Pass at SFMM and found a lot of discussion about it, but almost nothing about Fast Lane at Knott's so I'm going to share my experience.

 

I had a friend visiting from Florida so I wanted to make sure she got to experience everything (well almost everything, she is hesitant about some of the bigger coasters). Did Fast Lane for both of us. Here is a summary of our experiences.

 

Redeeming the wristbands - I purchased the wristbands online and went to redeem them at the store next to Ghostrider. There was no one there, but it still took a long time to redeem. The guy at the store was trying to call someone to help, but couldn't get a hold of anyone so finally he just gave us the wristbands.

 

Ghostrider- this is pre-refurb. FL worked great. They let you up through a separate entrance on the side of the station and let you directly into the loading area. You pick which row you want and get behind whoever is already in line for that row. I wish every FL worked like this.

 

Voyage to the Iron Reef - we rode twice and probably would have gone a few more times if the line wasn't so long even with FL. You show your wristbands to the person at the entrance and they have someone escort you up some stairs and you merge with the regular line near the loading area. Due to the slow loading times, it still ends but being about a 15 minute wait from that point. There were a lot of big school and community groups that day so we ended up being put in the middle of a large group both times. One time there was an elderly couple with us because one of them used a cane and could not do stairs. They had them go up in the elevator while we had to take the stairs. They ended up getting taken right to the front of the line while we ended up in the middle of a school group and had to explain what was going on to them. They were cool about it, but it was a little awkward.

 

Xcelerator - was closed most of the day. I didn't know it eventually opened after we left until I read about it on Twitter later. My friend probably wouldn't have wanted to ride anyways.

 

CoasterRider - no one was manning the FL side entrance so after standing around for awhile we just went in the regular queue. It was probably a 15-20 minute wait. From where the FL merges it might have been 5-10. It was still early and later in the day when the wait time swelled up we did see someone at the FL queue.

 

Silver Bullet - my friend didn't want to do it, but it did look like a decent set-up.

 

Bigfoot Rapids - it was early in the day and the ride was a walk-on. The FL queue wasn't even open.

 

Sierra Sidewinder - separate entrance behind the main entrance. They take you straight to the loading area. Well integrated.

 

Montezooma - enter through the exit. You can take any row which means those in the regular line waiting for that row have to wait. We picked a row no one was waiting for.

 

Pony Express - same deal as CoastRider. No one was manning the FL entrance so we went in the regular line. The people in front of us were a big group that wanted to ride together so they let us go ahead of them and we got on the next train.

 

Jaguar - enter through the exit and take a row similar to MR. This was popular with kids and they all wanted to ride in the front. Trying to get the front seat in the regular line was probably frustrating because kids with FL and various other passes kept taking it. Guy that had FL, but decided to wait in the regular line for some reason got angry because his row (which wasn't even the front) kept getting taken.

 

Supreme Scream - didn't ride it as I hate drop ride.

 

Boomerang - didn't ride it since it was super rough the last time I did.

 

Log Ride - enter through the exit. Unlike the other "enter through the exit" set-ups, there is someone there to meet you and get you on the next available log. It worked pretty well and we did multiple rides. My friend ended up loving this ride.

 

So overall, I'm glad we got FL since my friend had limited time, but as a pass holder I would find it difficult to justify getting it again for myself and my local friends. Most of the unmanned FL entrances were attended when we went by later in the day and were only unattended in the early hours, although that's not really a good excuse since people do pay for a full day of FL. We did save a lot of time since Iron Reef and Log Ride had long wait times and we did multiple rides on both.

Too short and weak tophat, (if you even want to call it that, i dont) airtime ....ejector for 1/100 of a second straight into brakes that slam you into the lapbar...hardly even worth a walk on i.m.p.o ...the hangtime as it barely makes it around the loop was kind of cool til TC's top gun stall.....its pretty lame

^Eh, SFMM has Twisted Colossus now. Yolo was a dissapointment at the time of its announcement, but now they have one of the best roller coasters in the world. TC more than makes up for Yolo's dissapointment.

 

But also, an Xcelerator renovation seems to have a few impracticalities. If it received an extension, then I would hope that they found a way to modify the launch system and make it more reliable. It seems more reasonable to buy a new coaster that is more reliable than it is to extend your most unreliable coaster.

 

It has been a while since Knotts has recieved a large new coaster, so it would not be too surprising if they were planning one. Yet, the idea of Ghostrider being great again excited me more than the idea of getting some cookie cutter B&M.

Ghostrider soft opened today. What GCI has done with this coaster is simply amazing! Going back tomorrow to see if it's open again.
