Saw an interview with GCI from IAAPA on another site. Adam House, the lead designer at GCI said that 50% of Ghostrider is receiving a complete re-track, while other 50% is going to be re-profiled to allow the ride to remain smooth over a long period of time. He said that this refurbishment is not like recent refurbishments (Gwazi, ext.) and guaranteed that Ghostrider would be a top 10 ride again.

 

Thanks for posting that, it makes me very happy to hear that the Ghostrider rehab is more extensive than what they did with Gwazi. I just hope that the finished product gives us a ride similar to the early 2000's era Ghostrider. It sounds like they are taking all the right steps (re-profiling, new trains, no MCBR, etc), so I am cautiously optimistic that this will be the case.

Considering it was once a top 5 coaster and GCI's recent success with Gold Striker, they have the track record and the product to pull it off.

Too bad its not getting PTCI360 train with a 'ghostrider' on the lead car similar in style to the Eagle on the car PTC was showing at IAAPA. That would have looked freaking awesome and not the boring rendering Knotts has shown.

How busy is it likely to be next year in the first week of spring break? I believe this is the week before Easter yea?

 

I don't like my chances of being able to ride the refurbed Ghost Rider as all the promo material says Summer which is well after March!

 

What will the rest of So-Cal attractions be like crowd wise?? It sounds like everthing will be chocka.

Yesterday was the start of Knott's Merry Farm, the annual holiday celebration at Knotts. Featuring: the Christmas Crafts Village in Ghost Town, Christmas on Engine 41, the Calico Saloon Christmas show, Santa's Christmas Cabin, Snow and Glow in Ghost Town, Snoopy's Merriest Tree Lighting, and of course the Merry Christmas, Snoopy! ice show. Knott's puts on one of the best holiday events in SoCal! Highly recommend checking it out!

There are also other "passengers" on the train with various backstories that will interact with the guests.

On a side note, I tried the Boysenberry Latte for the first time. Not my favorite Boysenberry product but definitely still good!

This show's extremely popular, people were waiting well over an hour. Make sure to get in line EARLY if you want to see it.

It was my first time seeing the Christmas version of the ice show and it was very well done and highly enjoyable!

It's somewhere in the $4 or $5 range if I remember right (for the boysenberry latte, anyway). You do get a 10% discount if you have a Knott's or Cedar Fair season pass.

Knott's does a good job on their annual Christmas event, right down to the extras they add to the train ride. The goodies at Santa's Christmas Cabin are great, too.

I was at Knotts today. A fairly busy day for a Wednesday, although the day before Thanksgiving. I do have 1 pet peeve to air. At 10:20 (had to be their first ride of the day), a passenger on Silver Bullet puked. It was in the middle of the train. They took nearly 25 minutes before they resumed operations. They used this dry absorbent everywhere. What they should've done is hose it down, and let it run empty to spin dry! They made this into such a production, wasting valuable early morning ride time before the park got busy. I'm there to ride!

At least you weren't sitting on the train like I was on Twisted Colossus after someone through up on the train ahead. Sat in the hot sun for about 15 minutes while the useless opps tried to spray the puke down. Should have just gotten a hose and sprayed it down and cycled and repeated everytime that train came back rather than keep cleaning and keep people waiting in the sun on the brake run.

Knott's provides bins for storing items on most of their rides. For Merry Farm, you should check out the train ride and Santa's Christmas Cabin (for the goodies).

Between Knott's Scary Farm and Knott's Merry Farm, it really looks like this park knows how to deliver for the holidays! I swear I'll get to the park eventually... It has just been hard for me to justify a day away from Disneyland when I come into town.

Massive amount? you can still see the mountains in the background, this is a clear day in Southern California lol
