G-Force!
That's quite a bit of work done in just two short days. Now that's what I call wasting no time indeed.
Tmcdllr
Well at least that nasty water is gone! I wonder how long it took to drain it.
Locostitch
My guess is they are in a hurry and will tear it all down and then rebuild the bridge.
SLUSHIE
Wow this is good news. I thought they wouldn't start taking it down so soon, but this means that the replacement is well on it's way and we should know about it pretty soon.
thestripedtaco
Yah they really started quick didn't they. I will be interested to see if they modify PP's pond area at all or if they just leave it for whatever is coming.

empires
Gotta be honest this is sad to see. Perilous Plunge was the first ride I ever followed its construction progress. Way back on a 56k modem!! Good times
rcdude
This area of the park is going to look so different when I next visit in November. While I will miss Perilous Plunge, I'm very excited to see what will be replacing it. Given that it will likely be gone within two weeks, I'm guessing the ride will just be torn apart and won't be relocated, but we shall see. Jew
It will be interesting to see if they jump right into construction of the new project, or just clear Perilous Plunge and let the area sit for a bit. That will be telling of what kind of project it is.

I was being sadistically sarcastic.... tearing that ride down is the greatest thing to happen since... the invention of the lap bar
Jew
A friend of mine just posted a picture on Facebook of them already starting to cut the steel structure.

That will be telling of what kind of project it is. Or not. Look at SFMM, they had that area cleared for a long time giving the impression that something big was going to go in and look what ended up happening, but that's SFMM..... my point still stands. You never can tell.
SLUSHIE
Since they started deconstruction so fast, I think they will start construction pretty soon after the tear down of PP is finished. The area is pretty much flat, and they are reusing the pool, so they know exactly what they are working with. When it came to tearing out Log Jammer, my bet is that they had to tear it out to do the survey of the area. There probably hadn't been a survey of that space since before 1971. I wonder if they will announce before it starts to become apparent what it is.
thestripedtaco
^ Or they could pull a Silver Dollar City on us and just not tell us for a few weeks after vertical construction.
SLUSHIE
Yeah and Knotts' sister park CGA didn't announce Gold Striker until well after construction had started, although we all knew what it was already. I kinda hope they don't, it's a better surprise that way!
vacoaster09
Is there any word as to whether they are carefully dismantling this ride (as to indicate that this ride may be relocated) or are they just ripping it down?

empires
Looking at those pictures, I realized that the site is pretty big. My guess is a dive machine, with one drop, an immelman and banked turnaround. Hopefully it will be at least 200 feet, but I doubt it.
jzoole
^^That's kind of a bummer. It could be a cool new headline attraction at a much smaller park like Michigan's Adventure or something. They could have thrown in the boomerang too and made it a package deal. Oh well.

vacoaster09
Those cuts look very clean to me... I am thinking (hoping) that they are preserving the ride and relocating it else where.
