P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Recommended Posts

^^When I went last Saturday, Pony Express and Flying Ace Balloon Race were the only closed rides. It was very crowded, and every coaster except GhostRider only had one train running. Xcelerator was a 60 minute wait, and Silver Bullet looked to be around 90 (I didn't ride it, so I can't say for sure). Did GhostRider first thing so I got on the fourth train of the day, but when I got off the entire building was full.

Considering Silver Bullet and XC will be running 1 train I'd say the $50 for Fast Lane is WELL worth it. It includes other attractions as well but just to be able to ride XC, and Silver Bullet all day with little/no waiting is worth it in itself.

Went to the park on Saturday and waited forever in line. It wasn't that the park was Packed but more of the factor that every coaster was running one train except for Ghostrider and I didn't get to ride Jaguar do to the long line but I think they were running two trains. Windseeker and Pony Express were closed for the whole day. The line for Ghostrider was about 80 minutes and the line for Xcelerator was about 40 minutes due to one train operations on Xcelerator. Sierra Sidewinder had over an hour wait also due to one train operations. Silver Bullet had a 65 minute wait also due to one train operations. But overall it was a good day.

Anyone get picked for the Travel Channel Film shoot tomorrow morning?

Yes, I will be at the Travel Channel shoot. I just happen to be leaving for So Cal later this afternoon and have no plans in the morning, so the timing worked out perfectly. Got confirmation yesterday.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just noticed my trip report from 2 weeks ago never posted Screw it now. EDIT: I'll post it anyways. This is my trip report from 4/2/12. The employees were rude, the ride operations were terrible(Besides Silver Bullet, they were kicking ass!) Windseeker shutdown before the park even opened and did not open that day. The Log Ride was having trouble filling up with water but reopened later that evening. Here's some pictures:7095007835_29bc94afaf_z.jpg.484c50aa6a874ddcd7b3b8ff5ecf5015.jpg

Ghost Rider was painful, it needs ALOT of work.

"RIDE MUAH, RIDE MUAH!", says the Windseeker. (I couldn't figure out anything else to say so give me some suggestions.)

Silver Bullet was excellent that day. Windseeker was being a bad boy though.

^ + 1 Ghostrider needs to be shut down. I went on a Sunday, you can only do the monthly payment plan online so i paid for the pass in full Windseeker was also shut down. No lines really, even with some one train operations.

Highlight of the day was "La Revolucion" or at least that's what i think it's called, the mini "Max Air" type ride. Wow! I never really went out of my way for flat rides but now i'm glad i did, that ride was pretty sick for something that's only what, 30ft. high? I guess i'll jump on the bandwagon for more flat rides at SFMM. Next time, i'll pony up the $5 for Screamin Swing!

^ Maybe one day i'll be brave enough for that one.

Nice TR . Sucks to hear the staff was bad that day and I agree Ghostrider needs the Rocky Mountain treatment ASAP. ^ Trust me, the $5 is totally worth it for Screamin' Swing. That thing is arguably the best flat on the west coast .

I always hear about how Ghostrider is a piece of crap yet somehow always manage to think it's a great ride that just needs the trimming to get lost to be returned to glory, I swear that even though the last car is a bit rough the first drop overrides any discomfort, the feeling of being thrown into the roof , not to mention the way the ending used to be, the perfect combination of lats and airtime.

^^ It was discussed at WCB that Ghosterider will not be getting the Rocky Mountain treatmeant. Although, the park was looking into getting new trains for it though. Which would be awsome! I found Ghostrider to be a fun ride, sure it bounced you around a little bit, but come on, it's a wooden coaster! We don't have to many wooden coasters down here, unlike the East coast.

So i decided to stop by Knotts last sunday (4-15) since i was in buena park for a meeting anyway. Got to the park around 1:30, and managed to hit everything i wanted to hit. got 3 rides on Xcellerator, including a dusk ride. Got silver bullet, and even subjected myself to the shitstorm that is Ghostrider. Also, it would not be a trip to Knotts if i did not pay respect to His work.

On to a patented Buckaroo Hit and Run PTR!

Went to the park today. Flat out HORRIBLE operations today. Really the opposite of WCB. The crews on Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, Boomerang, and Ghostrider were going up and down the rows at less-than normal walking speed. They also had one person checking both sides on Boomerang. And at Boomerang, in the middle of checking restraints, the crew member went to the exit to go joke with a co-worker, who seemed to be coming back from lunch.

I got to ride Ghostrider in the back today and got some really nice airtime, but at a price: It was VERY painful. Maybe it's because I'm a tall guy, but it was more rough than Viper at SFMM.

For those who were wondering, I can say that Xcelerator (pretty much duh),Silver Bullet, and Sierra Sidewinder were running one train.

I also got to go on Screamin' Swings for the first time, and absolutely loved it. My new favorite flat ride.

Sorry to hear about crappy operations, but Screamin' Swing is my favorite flat too. I kind of underrated it until I rode it again and thought about other flats I had been on. Definitely worth the $5! .

Apparently if you have an annual pass (I'm guessing you do?), it's 2 for $5? That's what they told me, so I have an extra ticket for it now...

I still don't understand how Knott's can get away with charging an upcharge for their tiny Screamin' Swing while other Cedar Fair parks with taller versions (Skyhawk and Xtreme Swing at CP and VF) include the ride with admission.
