ultradude306
I've heard people talking about how the Travel channel had a coaster show where they talked about some record breaking waterslide in Kansas City. anyone have info on it?
Midgetman82
Schlitterbahn in Kansas City is in the design stage of creating the world's tallest, and hopefully fastest, water slide in the world. No statistics on the slide have been released yet, but it is said to be taller than Insano at Beach park in Brazil. The slide will use inline rafts, and may have a hill after the initial record-setting drop.
Houston Thrills
It's currently under construction and may open by the end of the summer, though I'm not sure how likely that is.
ksman1
I live in kansas city and i can tell you slide pieces are on site and footers have been poured. Â Im really excited for this slide. The owner of schlitterbahn did say 9 out of 10 people wont ride once they get to the top. hopefully i am the 1 that will.
Midgetman82
I'd say his fear-factor estimate is probably off, but I guess we'll see once it's up. Â Also, if you can snag any pictures of what's already there, that's be wondrous!
ksman1
Well i have seen them online but i know that i am a new member and i cannot post links yet without permission. Â I probably wont be going to Schlitterbahn until "Verruck" opens. And yes that is the name.
ProwlerPrey
Midwest Info Guide has some pics of the construction area. It's mostly footers and dirt, with a few pics of slide pieces laying around. http://midwestinfoguide.com/schlitterbahn/v/05.24/index.html

I can't remember which, but if you do the math that only adds a few feet to it.
Riextol
Has anyone here been on Insano? Maybe a few more feet will make it exponentially better?
Moose
It's doubtful that a few feet (or tens of feet if its 10 to 15% taller) would make all that much of a difference. Â The thing that's intriguing to me is the airtime hill shown in the plans that they showed.

That is faster than the hyper coaster Mamba at worlds of fun
alwaysairtime14
I don't get these fast body slides. I tend to avoid them due to the pain of the slide seams, and especially, the pool /runout at the bottom. Too much pain for a 5 second ride. How do you guys tolerate it? FilmoreISnAZN
The new slide will not be a body slide. It is going to be a raft slide with rafts seating, I believe, 4 people. It will also feature an airtime hill using water jets to propel the rafts uphill similar to the MastBlaster slides.

Some parks have wetsuits for rentals. For example, Raging waters. Wetsuits can ease the pain of the body slides considerably. Anyways, the new slide seems to be pretty awesome. I wonder how it would feel when riding.
Jaykethekid
I was talking to an employee at the entrance of schlitterbahn kc, she said the four person rafts will have seat belts. So that second must be designed for airtimee
Midgetman82
I looked through the latest update (Posted September 2nd), and am now a tad uncomfortable at how small that hill is after that huge-a** drop... Wolfman_KL
Seriously is this a joke? That second hill is absolutely insane.
schotj
Looks like a water slide I'd build in RCT haha. It'll be really interesting to hear how this ride plays out
Wolfman_KL
I'm thinking the rafts MUST be attached to the slide.
