THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER

Ride B&M's newest wing coaster!

Take flight today on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER, which takes riders on a flight through Gotham City on Batman's "Bat" plane and brings them face-to-face with Bane. This thrilling coaster inverts riders upside down eight times as they traverse over 4,400 feet of track, all with nothing above or below them.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER STATS

HEIGHT: 117 feet

SPEED: 58 mph

LENGTH: 4,466 feet

INVERSIONS: 8, including world's first "elongated batwing" double inversion

DURATION: 2 minutes

TRAINS: 3, 32-seat wing coaster trains

MANUFACTURER: Bolliger & Mabillard

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER is now open!

I am happy to present my next project, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER:

SIX FLAGS — Join forces with the Dark Knight this summer as he flies above and below the city of Gotham in an attempt to foil Bane's plot to destroy the city. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER, a thrilling wing coaster, is coming to a Six Flags theme park near you.

Guests will traverse through Gotham, across bridges, and into the city's sewers as they approach THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER loading dock. They will then board "The Bat" which seats 28 riders, with no track above or below them.

The "Bat" train will depart the station before climbing nearly 100 feet into the air. After passing through Wayne Enterprises Headquarters, guests will plunge over 90 feet, spiraling into the coaster's first zero-g inversion.

The above rendering simulates riders riding on the wings of the "Bat."

Riders will then maneuver a second inversion, a giant flat spin, before immediately entering a dive element. An overbanked turn directly leads into a world's first element for a wing coaster: the elongated batwing inversion, which inverts riders twice.

A tilted helix leads riders into an indoor sequence where they come face-to-face with Bane and his mercenaries in the sewers of Gotham. Light and water effects heighten the cinematic experience as Batman decides to take on his archenemy.

The train emerges from the sewer as riders climb to a max height of 117 feet. Guests encounter a stunning view of the surrounding scenery, but the tranquility is brief, as the train inverts into a dive drop element, plunging riders 11 stories into another giant flat spin.

Riders speed through another zero-g roll before completing two overbanked turns, the last of which leads back into the loading station.

At 4,466 feet, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER will be the longest wing coaster in the world. With eight inversions, it will turn riders upside down more times than any other wing coaster. The coaster is a product of the acclaimed Bolliger & Mabillard, responsible for thrilling coaster at many Six Flags properties.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER will open in summer of 2013.

STATS

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

As was fairly evident in yesterday's screenshots, I still have a lot of work left to do until THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER departs with riders. In the coming weeks, I'll bring you frequent updates leading up to the coaster's completion.

I've been working on the coaster for nearly a month, and I'm happy to report that the support work is nearly complete.

After the trackwork is finished, I will start on the thematic elements. For a Six Flags coaster, the coaster will be heavily themed.

Finally, here is another overview of the coaster. This shot will look drastically different once the coaster is complete with the indoor sections and "keyhole" elements.

Stay tuned. More updates are coming soon.

Looks very awesome.

Thanks!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

Today I began working on the foundation for the coaster's indoor sequence where riders will come face-to-face with Bane in the underground sewers of Gotham. The coaster room will incorporate thematic scenery pieces with video technology to bring the infamous villain to life.

Also visible in the above shot are the sections of track where trains will receive maintenance. This coaster is unique in that the transfer track is actually in the middle of the coaster rather than the end.

Above is another angle of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

Work continues on this summer's THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER. Support work is 95% complete, with only minor pieces yet to be added. I'm now working on several of the buildings and infrastructure that will make up "Gotham City."

Two of the first buildings I completed are more for functional purposes: the two sheds that will hold the trains when they are not in use. At least one train will be on the main track at all times. During the off season, it will be kept in the main station. As mentioned in the previous update, the buildings are located at the coaster's midpoint rather than near the station.

Pictured above is the most important building: the show building. Here is where riders will come face-to-face with Bane and his mercenaries. Riders will also reenter this building (rather quickly) during the second half of the ride. Water effects will be plentiful in this building. There is still much work left to do, however.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER: a panoramic photograph.

Here's one last shot. I have a lot of work ahead of me, but the coaster is beginning to take shape.

Until next time!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

Work continues on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER. I'm working in several different areas of the coasters instead of focusing on one spot. There's no method to my madness. We'll see how it plays out in the long run.

Here's another view of the interior of the show building where riders will face Bane. Notice the faux track that will lead riders to believe that they are heading right towards the villain.

I've fenced in the majority of the coaster, especially the first half. Landscaping work continues. One of the first fly-through sets has been constructed.

Riders will fly through Gotham City's buildings during their ride on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER.

The walls for the queue building are up. Guests will cross a bridge onto one of Gotham City's islands before crossing back over towards the station.

Pictured above is the elongated batwing inversion. Stay tuned for more updates!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

I apologize for the lack of updates recently. I have been travelling with limited RCT3 time. However, I have a few updates to hold you over until significant work picks back up.

The entrance to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER is beginning to take shape. Guests will enter an obliterated Gotham building as they await "judgment." The queue will weave throughout the city as they await their fate: death or exile. Will The Dark Knight rescue them before it's too late?

The entrance plaza is also taking shape. There is still much work left to do, though.

Until next time,

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

I have a short update today, but I wanted to show you the progress I'm making on Wayne Tower.

Riders will pass through this iconic building twice during their ride on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER.

Landscaping around portions of the coaster has also began.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

Work continues on this massive wing coaster... at a very slow pace. I'll work for two hours and feel like I've barely made a dent in the final product. Hopefully it will all be worth it once I release the video (hoping by the end of July).

I began playing around with the lighting. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER will be even more terrifying at night as riders fly through the slew of obstacles in the dark.

The station is progressing nicely. I forgot that riders would need to enter/exit from both sides, so the queue and exit paths needed some reworking.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Wow this looks awesome. I love the dark ride portion, the Warehouse complements the theme nicely. Keep it up!

Thank you!

I love this project so much, please don't stop playing RCT3.

I don't intend to!

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

I've been working on several of the ride's buildings lately, but I've also begun adding foliage to the surrounding area. While the ride's theme is desolate and "dead," I want the area around the coaster to be a stark contrast. After all, I'm designing this coaster for a Six Flags park, many of which have trees.

The elongated batwing inversion should leave riders' heads spinning.

Pictured above is one of the several queue areas. Bane's rule over the city is apparent with the slew of abandoned police cars.

Here's one more overview of the area. I'm making progress, I promise! Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, I greatly appreciate the feedback.

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER - UPDATE

B&M Wing Coaster Rising Summer 2013

I had more free time than I anticipated over the last few days, so I've made significant progress on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER. In fact, I'm nearly ready to begin filming the video.

BREAKING NEWS: THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER TO SPORT PARALLAX WING COASTER TRAINS

Parallax has graciously designed custom trains for use on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES COASTER. The 32-seat trains feature a sleek, black color scheme, similar to "The Bat" in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

^ Thank you! It's far from the best, though. If SF ever built this, I bet they would slim it down considerably to save money.
