I can confirm the big dipper turn is not being re-routed, it is simply being taken apart in several places to allow accsess for the various machinery needed for the foundations and also for the general construction of the ride. The Brake run of Traumatizer will be above the big dipper turn, and there is a four leg support that will sit in the middle of the turn. This support is found on all Standard SLC's so it has not been modified to fit into the space, i think it was just sheer luck that this section would fit directaly within the turn. For those in the know, this support section generally (on all SLC's ive been on anyway) has attatched to it, a set of ladders for acsess to the brake run itself. The turn will be re constructed to its origional route, with maybe a little support modification, once work has been completed on Traumatizer. The Pleasure Beach express however, which originally went streight along the lake will be modified to weave through the SLC's support structure. Hope this helps. I bet if this happened in the USA there would be uproar.... Think of how many people lost their jobs and what it did to Southport itself. It's wrong in many ways..... Fallen Heretic Posted November 6, 2006 Share Posted November 6, 2006 I think some people are forgetting that coaster enthusiasts/fans/nuts generally have higher standards than those who only ride occationally. Thing is, Pleasure Beach will get most of its income from regular Joe Publics, who have been crying out for Blackpool to get a ride with some inversions. Although its 'just the SLC from down the road' to us, for most its an exciting ride like nothing the park has ever had before. Its about time the Beach had something to flip us over other than the Rev. Although, to be honest, I would have prefered a twisting little Intamin or maybe a B&M invert in there. Of course they already had the SLC, so I completely undestand just putting that in. Means more money left for the next big project they may have. coaster-inc Posted November 7, 2006 Share Posted November 7, 2006 big project and pleasure beach in the same sentance, what are you, mad...... i just hope they do somethin with vikings bit rather than just use it as a dumping ground for everythin else, i mean what is the point in storing the old grand national trains, a big dipper train, an avalance train, a valhalla boat, couple of mushroom swings for beaver creak and then some left over big one track!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? i mean for those (including me) that go on the monorail (i like to use it to pad out the day) when going over it, its horid... get a little looping coater and put the loop round the monorail... and the final day was to packed, closed rides and really Really REALLY naff fireworks let from turtle chaces mound.... and like i said, though it proberly will only be for this reason, i will be going up there every wk end for your traumatizer goodness.... place your bets for how long it will take befor going vertical... I agree about the old Water Chute site. Something prettier has to go in there. And clean up the Nash area while they are at it. They should keep somewhere to store BigOne track though. They recycle it brilliantly. They even used it as supports for the Valhalla building. My bro-in-law just asked whats going on with the bit where log flume used to be. Tramatizer will be a completly new type of rollercoaster there and it will fit in perfectly is this an Vekoma SLC because if it is I thnk they are to many of them? I mean the ones blue tornado and kong at six flags marine world. If not whats the layout of this coaster? Use your brain, research it and there ar'nt too many of them, we at england hav'nt got one at the monent as it is getting moved. Besides it shows it a good model. Bah, since im nice I'll answer your question, Kong and BT are both the same (sort of) (On another positive note your doing well at english, Im crap at languages ) There may not be that many in englad but there are like 35-40 world wide. I have a couple of questions: - Are all the coasters going to be open? If not, which coasters are not going to be open? - How much single tickets coast? This means that Grand National, Wild Mouse and Valhalla will be closed, amoung others. Big Dipper is closed due to the TraumaTizer construction. Major rides that will be open; Big One, Bling, Revolution, Avalanche and Steeplechase. The season at Blackpool has pretty much ended, so they're only doing limited openings during the winter. Post lots of photo's of the construction, I am not a fan of SLC, been on the original at Walibi World and got a massive "headache" off it. Shame my fav ride is not open "Wild Mouse". What's your source for the rumour that TraumaTizer won't fit? Surely the site would have been surveyed? Also, I find it a bit strange that Vekoma have been flown in to build the ride, especially at this early stage when normally (even for new coasters) it is done either by local contractors or a specialist firm like RCS. coaster-inc Posted November 15, 2006 Share Posted November 15, 2006 oh, it was servayd, by pleasure beach staff.... but amanda got vekoma in, i dont know why and they measured up and say that part of the bigone is in the way... and this is sorced by other staff that were around amanda when she kicked off at other workers for the crappy work that had been done.... but vekoma are actually sited somewhere, dont know where though.... either way, someone made a huge muck up and i think its gona be a slow progress thing... we will ahev to wait and see wht developes... I don't think surveying is a simple task such as measuring a room for a new carpet - every dimension is calculated, the position of footers, where supports will go, where the track will go in relation to other rides, how dense the ground is to see how deep the footers need to go, where access for the ride needs to go... this is a monstrous task, and I would be genuinely amazed if this was something the park themselves carried out a site survey. There are companies who specialise in this process, and I doubt Pleasure Beach's staff would even have the capabilities to do a site survey even if they wanted to. If your source works for the park, I would be very sceptical. Sorry. I would be stunned if Vekoma were actually building the ride, too. As I say, contractors normally do this, occasionally a company like Ride Construction Services will, but I find it quite an implausible situation for a ride manufacturer who rarely (if ever?) build rides flying out, getting into diggers to dig footers (that a specialist foundation company would do, anyway) before in the tea room someone spits out his coffee as he realises that the ride won't fit. It simply doesn't work like that. They haven't even really started on the groundwork, so you can expect to see the groundwork company come in first with diggers and cement mixers before any manufacturers come out. And finally, Amanda wouldn't just come out to the building site and start kicking off. If such a cock up would have happened, it would be a site or project manager that nobody recognises shouting, while park directors discuss problems like this behind the scenes.
