I know what coaster you based this on!

 

Coyote Creek Mine Ride isn't based on one particular roller coaster, it's just a general Arrow mine train layout.

Excellent and very realistic park. I like how you have followed it from its founding up to the point where you presently are. Also including some tragedy is very realistic as well, tons of parks I have read about either online or in one of Jim Futrell's books seems to have always suffered at least one major disaster, with fire being the most common. Also, dunno if you know what I mean here, but is Big Dipper based on a Prior & Church design, or a Harry Traver design? I also can definitely see some John Miller in Jack Rabbit and some John Allen in Pacific Flyer. Keep up the good work!

Big Dipper is based on a Prior & Church design while Jack Rabbit and Pacific Flyer are more based on what coasters were like in their date of construction rather than based on a particular designer.

1969 - 1970 Update

 

 

For the 1969 season, the year man walked on the moon, Playland Park introduced Space Trainer. Space Trainer was built to show the immense training astronauts do before they leave Earth.

 

 

A new food court was also added in 1969 with a little space theme in it.

 

 

In 1970, Mountainside Jamboree opened as Playland Park's scrambler. It is located in the Mining Town theme area where Coyote Creek Mine Ride is found.

A rather large construction site is behind Coyote Creek Mine Ride. It looks like the 1971 attraction will be rather large.

I'm done with Playland Park and I can assure that it will look much better.

 

1971 Update

 

New for 1971 is the Boulder Canyon Log Run! Built by Arrow, this log flume goes both inside and outside and travels through the forest behind Coyote Creek Mine Ride.

 

 

Here is Boulder Canyon Log Run's station and it sure has a line today.

 

 

Inside this building is the Log Run's indoor dark ride portion.

Im liking this. I think you could afford to have more shrubbery among the trees, and maybe use more land textures to break up all of the grass. Grass isn't everywhere in real life, you know.

 

Maybe open up the foliage near the station too, since you can't really see it from the midway. That, or place a sign out front. Just something to acknowledge the ride. The hut over the queue entrance is a nice addition, but maybe put a roof on it to make it into a watchtower or something. That could help the theme of the ride.

1972 - 1974 Update

Jolly Roger is Playland Park's new pirate ship ride for 1972. It replaced the old Big Top Circus.

 

 

For 1973, Playland Park received a HUSS Enterprise named Barnstormer.

 

 

1973 was Wildcat's last year. It is the first Playland Park defunct roller coaster. Hopefully, it will be sold to a new owner who will re-open it somewhere else.

Playland Monster is the new 1974 Schwarzkopf Speedracer. Replacing Wildcat, it sure looks a lot nicer with all of this scenery.

Sorry for taking so long for the new update, I was busy the last few weeks because of my visit to New York.

1975 - 1976 Update

New for 1975 is the Big Blue Skyway, a chairlift that transports guests from Mining Town to the Playland Monster midway.

 

 

One of Big Blue Skyway's towers is located next to Pacific Flyer's first drop.

 

 

In 1975, Rocky Shore Expedition was removed for Terror Mountain, a double looping, double corkscrew roller coaster designed by Arrow Development. Terror Mountain opened in 1976 as the coaster with the most inversions.

Is Terror Mountain inspired after Demon? If so, nice job, it looks very nice and a perfect addition to this park, but one remark: I think Big Blue Skyway could use some more foliage, flowers and whatnot. Other than that looks very nice.

Viper at Darien Lake had 5 and opened in 1982. The first 4 looper was carolina Cyclone that opened in 1980. So this is a few years before that but still fits into a realistic timeline.

Corkscrew opened with three in 1976. I think it is perfectly realistic.

The only issue I have with your new Schwarzkopf coaster is the title on it:

 

No custom Schwarzkopf JetStar II's were made. Instead, they are given the title of Speedracer. Technically (historically) the JetStar II evolved from the Speedracer line (The first Speedracer appeared in 1971- Big Bend, Six Flags Over Texas) while the JetStar II opened the first model in 1972.

1977 brought Snowman Spinner, a tea cup ride themed to snow.

 

 

Remember Rocky Shore Expedition? It was the ride removed in 1975 for the construction of Terror Mountain. Well, Playland kept the submarines in storage, refurbished them, and brought them back in 1978 as a new ride named Pacific Expedition. It sits on the location of the former Bumper Boats attraction.

 

 

New for 1979: Thrill Shot. This here is a Schwarzkopf Shuttle Loop that contains an indoor launch section.

 

 

Along with Thrill Shot, a new food court was built in 1979.

What a hiatus that was! Park looks nice as always, but something about that shuttle loop is just... I don't know how to pit it, but I guess you can say "chunky". It doesn't appeal to me at all, that's all. Other than that, awesome work.

It'll look less chunky in the later years when there is more vegetation.

 

1980 - 1982 Update

 

For 1980, the blank spot underneath Thrill Shot's front spike has been filled up by another car ride named Classic Cars. Here, you can see the station for the new ride.

The Space Trainer ride was removed for a new 3D theater called The Cube, built in 1981.

 

 

Sierra Mountain River Run, an Intamin rapids ride, was built in 1982. The rapids do travel through the thick forest in the bottom of the photo.

1983 - 1985 Update

 

In 1983, Playland put in Revolution, a HUSS manufactured ride that spins riders upside down multiple times!

 

 

The Classic Cars were short lived and were removed in 1983 for Alpine Beast, an Intamin Swiss Bob coaster that opened in 1984 that weaves around Thrill Shot's front spike.

 

 

Here is Alpine Beast's entrance, queue, and station.

 

 

Playland put together a high diving show in 1985. It seems to be temporary, but who knows how long it'll last.

 

 

1985 also brought Cycle Cruiser, a pedal cruiser where you travel through the woods behind Mining Town.

 

 

Some strange happenings are happening as a whole area has been blocked off from guests. Jack Rabbit, Helter Skelter, Dodgems, and Phantom Castle are all closed.

 

 

A few months later, Playland released information that Phantom Castle is closed indefinitely from rising costs of maintenance. They announced it will be torn down immediately for a new, exciting ride for 1986.

 

 

Playland took no time to waste as they removed the ride and started to demolish the building.

 

 

By January 1986, this was all that was left of Phantom Castle. It held up from 1920 - 1985 and was almost demolished in the late 30s during the abandonment of Playland Park.
