thrillrideseeker
So with it being Thanksgiving and all I decided to take a trip to Galveston to visit the Pleasure Pier. With this being my first trip I was super excited. All in all I enjoyed the park. The views from all the rides were amazing. The Star Flyer views were to die for. You can seriously see the curve of the earth. It's amazing. Iron Fishy... Errr... Iron Shark was pretty good. Just rough as hell. The lapbar only was awesome though. Everything else was amazing as well. The entire pier has an AMAZING lighting package and looks so good once the sun goes down. Oh and they were playing Lady Gaga in the park so that is an automatic win. Anywho on with the photos... And beware there is a LOT of them. (Hope they are all sized right) Happy Thanksgiving TPR. You guys are awesome!! ~Matt Almost there! Open Thanksgiving Day! Yay! Pleasure Pier... Wait... Is this the Magic Kingdom?? A map for you! Some history First Up... Carousel. Pier Pileup. Look at that view. Rock N' Roll. Looked great!! The cars looked awesome! Hmmm... I wonder what these could be for. Soak Zone? Oh hell no. Looks great. Maybe she lost her hat, and she is going back for it? Next Up: Iron Fishy. Straight up. Beyond straight down. Upside down Twisted divey thingy... Twisted. The most beautiful brake run in the world... Nerd Shot #1 Nerd Shot #2 ... Beautiful. Last of the nerd shots. There are 3 trains... They were running 1. Bye Bye Iron Fishy... Sea Dragon... Staight out over the path. Cyclone was next... Next Up: Galaxy Wheel. Beautiful. Beautiful views from Galaxy Wheel. Oh hell... Ohhh so thats how its done. Ever wonder how you support a Star Flyer on a pier... This is how. Over View. Beautiful... Galaxy Wheel has an AMAZING lighting package. Iron Fishy was very prideful. Happy Thanksgiving TPR!! Thats all she wrote.

willh51
Sweet photos. I've always liked boardwalk amusement parks, and this one looks really nice. Interesting about Iron Shark being rough. Is it the transitions? I watched some videos and it looks like the cars really slam into the brake run after an awkward transition out of the twisted loop. boardwalkbullet91507
^^^ It depends on where you sit. Back row rightmost seat is smooth as glass. Move one row up and it will give you a bit of a headache after a few rides. There is a jerk right before the brake run.
DBru
There is a jerk right before the brake run. Is he even allowed to be up there?
boardwalkbullet91507
Is he even allowed to be up there? The brake run? The picture was taken on public domain accessible to the general public. The exit path takes you out of the station right next to the turn from the brakes into the station where he took the picture. The station would be to the right. Jerrykoala2112
They seriously need to do something to attract more locals to the pier. I went in the summer and it was not busy, and judging from your photos, they can't be making much money. But I'm surprised you didn't like Iron Shark. I actually didn't care for the lap bar restrains because I whacked the people sitting next to me many times (the turns on that ride are very quick) but it's still fun euro-fighter! simon8899
You really put lapbars on bumper-cars? A Star Flyer at such location is an automatic win!
