Question for GCI: What qualifications do you look for when hiring engineers? What design programs should they be proficient in, years of experience, relative coursework etc.

Thanks

GCI:

What types of engineering and planning goes into making your coasters smooth and what do you do as far as pre-/post-project work to keep them smooth over long periods of time? Seeing as wooden coasters tend to get rough rather quickly...

How much more of a challenge does GCI face with new competition from The Gravity Group's new "Timberliner" trains and Rocky Mountain Coasters entering into the wooden coaster market?

If you were to include inversions in your layouts (GCI), could Millennium Flyers track those or would you have to redesign them completely?

GCI: I feel honored knowing that your company is based in my Parent's home state of Pennsylvania. When you first formed, did you ever imagine that your Pennsylvanian group would end up designing coasters for places like China and the Netherlands?

GCI: One of your new for 2013 projects, White Lightning, uses a steel support structure instead of a wooden one. What factors led to this decision, and is it likely that more of your coasters will use a steel structure in the future?

GCI: In 2012 we saw the first GCI coaster capable of running three trains. Was Wodan designed without a mid-course brake specifically to preserve the "out-of-control" feeling and forward momentum of your other rides?

Could you describe the main factors that determine a roller coaster's speed based upon the temperature? What design techniques could be used to possibly combat these issues and what would be the trade-offs?

PLEASE REMEMBER!!!!

We are only taking questions for GCI at this time...we will announce other companies shortly, but you will need to repost anything NOT related to GCI when that time comes!

Gerstlauer-Can you confirm whether the SW7 Trains will have lapbars,OTSR Or a new restraint system.

B&M- Do you think we will ever see a backwards variation to the DiveMachine

Your questions have been disqualified because you didn't bother to read the rules. Don't bother asking any more questions.

Hey everyone!

IAAPA starts up next week and this year we're gonna change things up a bit! Normally, we do interviews with all the major ride companies, and to be honest, most of the interviews from year to year are very similar, because they can't really talk about that much coming up, and we already know about what they've already built.

So this year we're gonna give the opportunity for YOU to ask a question! Here's how it's gonna work....

RULES! (Because we need them!)

1. We'll post to this thread a ride company that we are currently gathering questions for.

2. Ask away! As as much as you want, but EACH QUESTION MUST BE IN A SEPARATE POST!

3. Once we've closed the current question period for one ride manufacturer no more questions may be asked of that ride company.

4. We will pick FIVE questions to ask each of the ride companies from the questions submitted to the forum.

5. Those questions will be asked as part of the interview videos we do on the IAAPA show floor.

6. Anyone who deviates from these rules will be disqualified and their questions will be thrown out.

Everyone got it? GOOD! Now....

What question do you want us to ask ROCKY MOUNTAIN CONSTRUCTION at IAAPA 2012?

START ASKING QUESTIONS!!!!

(Be sure you've read the rules before you post!)

What drugs are they taking in the rmc offices, and can we all have some of them please...

Serious question time :- what do they think of the purists who say they are not building wooden coasters, and can they see their style of wooden coaster taking over the more Traditional structures...
