megalyte
Just in this morning from Atari: Atari, one of the world’s most recognized publishers and developers of interactive entertainment, today revealed its upcoming lineup of new mobile games from some of video gaming’s most iconic franchises. Following the recent launch of Super Bunny Breakout™ with Zynga, the upcoming release schedule includes Outlaw™, a new take on an original Atari arcade hit, coming to iOS in November, and first-ever iOS releases of the blockbuster RollerCoaster Tycoon® franchise and D&D property with Dungeons & Dragons: Warbands. Additionally, Atari will be launching its first social casino experience with Atari Casino, featuring mini-game integrations of its popular game IP into slots, blackjack and more. “We’ve spent this year focused on developing mobile games based on some of Atari’s most iconic and enduring franchises,” said Jim Wilson, CEO of Atari. “Our upcoming lineup should make clear Atari’s strategy to work with the strengths of our key franchises and offer our expanding global audience of mobile gamers a collection of accessible and fun consumer experiences. Atari’s mobile games lineup features: RollerCoaster Tycoon (iOS and Android, Q1 2013) Based on the original best-selling management simulation classic which has sold more than 13 million units, RollerCoaster Tycoon is headed to iOS for the first time. As an up-and-coming tycoon, players create their own custom theme park, designing coasters and building attractions to gain new visitors and increase revenue. Players can choose from pre-designed rollercoaster templates, or design their own wild creations from scratch with the Roller Coaster Editor. With modern features like sharing coaster designs with friends, the newest version of RollerCoaster Tycoon offers an experience both long-time fans and newcomers will enjoy. http://pressreleases.triplepointpr.com/2012/10/24/atari-announces-upcoming-mobile-games-lineup/ So there you have it; Roller Coaster Tycoon is coming to Android and iOS in Q1 of 2013! scbt
I have the feeling that this is just going to be very meh in the graphics and gameplay quality departments. It would be nice if they would actually make RCT4, but hey, i really doubt that's going to happen.
griffonj2022
This makes me so excited! I've always felt there was something missing in the RCT family, and I feel that this is it. I have an iPad and am hopefully getting an iPhone in the near future, so a game of this genre would be incredibly fun. I'd have to see some early pictures and development to be sold on the final product, but its a great idea. Darn, they beat me to the APP idea...or did they? A.J.
They should really make the game compatible with Windows and Mac as well. Contrary to popular belief, not everyone owns a tablet.
AJMouse
That's great news I actually put RCT on an iPad two years ago: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=57365 I hope they'll be making it a RCT or RCT2 style game. No "actual" 3D please. Please? Neh, I'll buy it anyway.
MrSum1_55
Thinking optimistically, the introduction of RCT in other forms may actually be good news. As in, the series is clearly popular enough to be revived. There portable releases might be Atari's test to see if there is still enough popularity to justify a fourth PC game. I would die for an RCT game with a No Linits importer, but that may just be wishful thinking.

A.J.
Yes, but if the iOS/Android game is completely different than the original games but is miraculously just as fun, I'd want to buy it - I don't want to spend money on a tablet, and I don't want to play the game on my iPhone. SoCalCoasters
I swear to god if they turn this into one of the crappy "free" games where you "pay abc and wxyz" to unlock more features, I'm going to flip a table.
MayTheGForceBeWithYou
^Knowing some game companies, I will be PISSED if they make it a freemium game.
Bryce
YAY!!!! I agree SoCal, I hope it's not a freemium game like that Theme Park one I had and all I could buy was bouncy castles and slides cause I had to pay around $50 for a roller coaster... Here is the link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coaster-crazy/id561451269?mt=8 Do you guys think this is competition?
