NEWS: Cowabunga Bay coming to Las Vegas!

Recommended Posts

Just got back from the park's new Disco Nights event! That was awesome! I don't have any photos since, well, electronics and water don't mix. Hopefully Shane will be able to share some of his own!

Anyway, the event was a ton of fun! The park was open until 10pm with some great accent lighting all around the park and tons of disco music playing all around! The staff members were getting into it with dancing and singing and even wearing huge, ridiculous 70s wigs (afros, up-dos, etc)! The atmosphere was great! All of the guests were having a great time and commenting on how pretty the park was and were also dancing to the music. I saw smiles everywhere for every age.

Might as well mention Wild Surf, too. Ummmm, HOLY CRAP! This thing is downright terrifying! The drop into the wave has ejector airtime that's more intense than any coaster I've been on! It's massive and you get completely drenched, all while laughing like an idiot. Tons of fun and an incredible addition to an already top notch park! Beach Blanket Banzai, the other family raft addition this year, is much more mild but still very fun to ride. If you get spinning you'll have even more fun! It's very long and provides a beautiful trip with the Lake Mead Recreation Area on the horizon.

Great work by the Cowabunga Bay crew on this event!

^ Oh yeah, the splinters up my butthole would be incredible.

That sounds like a great name for a death metal band.

Looks like Cowabunga Bay is adding a water launch propulsion system to its racing slide to help people get over the uphill portion. I think this is a great idea as so many people get stuck on the uphill portion and have to either wiggle over the top or slide back down. This creates major delays as you have to wait for all the lanes to clear before another set of riders can go down. I personally don't have any trouble getting over the hump, but it's pretty much impossible if you weigh less than 100 pounds, so kids are always getting stuck. I can't wait to see this new water launch system in action!

In other news, the big blue wave slide is still down and the employees weren't sure when it was going to open back up. It was in operation all last season, so I'm not sure what is going on with it. Maybe Shane can shed a little light on the issue?

As if the mat racer slides didn't punch you in the junk hard enough already, now riders get an opportunity to never produce children courtesy of the uphill master blaster section!!!

Just kidding, sounds pretty interesting and I'd love to hear some more details. The slide type possibilities with an uphill section for a mat racer are kind of exciting really.

Wow...that new slide sounds (and looks) awesome, Shane!

While I don't have any plans on going to Vegas again any time in the near future, if and when we do go, your water park will be first on our list of places to visit.
