After the delays they have been facing it actually looks like someone else beat them with building the first Surf Safari slide!

Cowabunga's will be different though, as they are building the non-slanted version. It looks awesome!

Here’s the story on the re-design and delay of this ride: We purchased this slide from Polin back in 2012. In Polin’s haste they displayed a model of the ride at the IAAPA convention boasting it would open at Cowabunga Bay in 2013. When Proslide got wind of it they slapped a lawsuit against Polin due to patent infringements because it was similar to Proslide’s Tornado. When we got wind of the pending lawsuit we asked Polin to redesign the ride to differentiate it from Proslides Tornado otherwise we would have to back out of the purchase. Polin then did a major re-do on the design which now results in the more “half-pipe” design rather than the Tornado-esque look. The redesign and re-engineering took several months which caused delays in the fabrication. By the time it was all worked out there was no time to get the ride open for the 2014 season, so we held off.

I am quite happy with the re-design and actually like it more than the original design. Sometimes things work out for the best.

That's pretty lame of Proslide. I could understand it if it were something similar to a Tornado, like the Whitewater Abyss, but this slide is so different from a Tornado that I don't know why they would even think of suing.

I'm glad that you are happier with the version you are getting, from the looks of it you will have a winner!

Thank you for the insight! Hopefully I can make it out to CB in July.

^Polin does have something like it called the Magic Sphere (http://www.polin.com.tr/Catalogue/product-detail/Magic-Sphere/60/43) as well as a smaller version simply called Spheres (http://www.polin.com.tr/Catalogue/product-detail/Spheres/40/48). I'm pretty sure Cowabunga Bay has one of the smaller versions, as I think that was the ride causing weight issues last year.

I was disappointed to miss Cowabunga Bay by a couple weeks this past summer, but given what opened on time and what got delayed I'm somewhat glad I didn't get to visit. The new slides look like they could be the best attractions at the park. Next time I'm in Las Vegas during the operating season, Cowabunga Bay is my highest priority attraction to do.

Ah, thanks for the links. I just looked at the Polin sight very briefly and my bad. I knew about the White Water one for a little while since it was proposed for my home waterpark a year or two back (Wet N Wild Phoenix). However, this place changes ownership so much I think those plans are scraped or on hold for a new attraction.

I am one that is surprised that ProSlide made a big deal about this. White Water has been installing replica's for awhile now. I believe the Phoenix one is from White Water and it is actually actually called "Tornado".

Here are some progress pics of the new “Wild Surf” slide going up at Cowabunga Bay. One half of the giant wave is now completed and work on the other half continues. Once the wave portion of the slide is complete work can begin on the family raft slide “Beach Blanket Banzai” Both slides are scheduled to be completed and ready to open when Cowabunga Bay opens for its second season March 28th.

Even though we have had chilling weather here in the desert work continues on our new slides. With the giant wave portion nearly completed, work will soon focus on the slide portion that drops into the wave and then the Beach Blanket Banzai slide. Hopefully they will be ready for testing the end of the month.

That looks absolutely spectacular!

Shane, do you have patience enough to wait until your ride is finished, or are you gonna take a quick trip to Turkey and try their prototype?

I have one question (a very nerdy one, I can't quite make it out in the photo). Are the parts I circled made in RTM or regular one sided molding?
