6flagsbrad
Here's a couple pictures I got of the parts from last week. They're fenced off in the side parking lot where the main gate to hobby city is. Looks like most if not all of the track and supports.
fatdaddy
Stopped by to see if there was any progress and...footers! 25 feet deep and ready for some construction. Yay! I'm told that now that summer is over, which is their peak season, they will start constuction next month and once started it could take as little as two weeks to get the major part of the construction done. Crane should be onsite December 1st, so look for some more progress by mid December. Â
Jew
Good to see them doing something. Feels like the site just sat empty with no work for quite some time!
chickenbowl
Thanks for the update! I will surely ride this during a trip to Knott's once this opens. I look forward to seeing vertical construction.
rcdude
I'm glad to see some construction finally happening on this ride. From an article I read it sounds like their target opening is March 2015, so on one of my spring or summer visits to Knott's next year I'll have to make a stop by Adventure City as well. gisco
Finally some progress. Looks like they will have a new coaster by early spring time!
StuckInSD
I hope this ride opens on time. It's not all that big, so I don't see why not!
fatdaddy
Well, you figure the crane has to be expensive and this is a small park, so they will try to get as much done as quickly as possible .
6flagsbrad
Rewind Racers Construction Update: Friday December 5 Â We've gone vertical! RyanTPM
^Looks like a great family coaster. Nice to finally see vertical construction after a long time. Will this be an exact clone of all the Vekoma junior boomerangs as we saw in the concept art?
gerstlaueringvar
^ Not very close to the Vekoma version. Â Photo from RCDB
fatdaddy
Well, someone beat me to the post, but I stopped by this morning to get some pictures. They were excited to see there was interest in their new coaster and proudly told me to come back next week to see more progress. Here's a slightly larger update. Â Â Seriously, they were working very quickly and I would expect to see a nearly completed coaster in a couple of weeks at the most. Well, the track and supports anyway. azza29
Great pics, Caesar. Looks likes his will be a decent family coaster once it comes together.

thrillseeker4552
Looks like a perfect addition to Adventure City. I really need to head down there one of these times, considering how often I've been to Knott's. Â Edit: So is this a custom coaster from Gerstlauer? It looks different than their other family shuttle coasters.
fatdaddy
Well, they said come back Friday for another update to see some major progress, and they were correct. Pretty much a completed coaster, and they were getting ready to install the chain. FYI, it rained hard that morning and Knott's had closed, but these guys worked in the rain. I arrived thinking there wouldn't be anybody onsite, but as I started taking pictures I noticed the the crane was humming. It was literally raining the entire morning until, I got out to take pictures...lucky me! Some had rain gear, some were just soaked, but they kept working. Anyway, amazing to see this go up so fast with such a small crew and here's some pictures... Â Didn't expect to see anyone here working, it rained all morning and was still sprinkling a little. I think God wants me to ride this. The sun peaked through the clouds, Knott's had already closed for the day due to rain. So sexy! I like my women with curves. Clouds and a blue sky. Clouds and a black sky. The orange color really pops. Thad loves this stuff! Such a tease! Don't worry, I'll get to ride you soon. More wheels. All I want for Christmas is a roller coaster chain, a roller coaster chain...so I can make it up the lift hill. Very popular holiday song. Get the hook! Plan is to use a strap hooked to the crane to pull the chain up the lift. This strap ended up being too long, but you get the idea. They wanted a different link to start so they pryed one off. Hooked to the crane and ready to be hoisted. It turned out the crane was as high as it could go, so they used the chain pulley to pull the chain on gear. That's hot! The chained was muscled into place. Put a 2x4 in so the gear wouldn't spin while they changed the crane setup. The crane was used more as a bracing point for the chain pulley to keep it feeding strainght. Getting the pulley in the right place. Hey, no lying down on the job! Nerd close up. So with first length of chain hooked to the pully, they can start the next set. The link they wanted was actually on the bottom so they had to flip it. Easy! Anyone who's ever had to put their bike chain back on can relate to this. Popping the link back on takes some pressure. ...and a snap ring completes the job. Okay, they broke for lunch at this point, but basically lather, rinse, repeat. I used a similar set up to put my bike chain on as a kid. Smaller scale of course. Â So, there's your update for 12/12. The area where they had all the parts stored is almost empty, so there isn't much left to do. The Gerstlauer people seemed to think the coaster should have no problem with inspections, but well, it's California. Still a station to be built, which was flooded at the time and testing, etc. Â Ok, a real update for you, not just some quick snapshots, because that's how TPR rolls! So, make sure you tell people to check out this report and leave a comment!

fatdaddy
Thanks for the positive comments! Really fun report to do, it's not often you get to be that close to a coaster during constuction, but this one is literally almost on the sidewalk. Â ^Have a good one Bill! gerstlaueringvar
Great report! Thank you for posting the pictures! Â I wonder why Gerstlauer has to use chain on the first lift? Why don't they just use friction wheels instead?
