Ya gotta love it when WhiteWater and ProSlide combine the best of their lineups into one park. There's very few parks that are doing that, including one very notable one that's nearing it's completion in Abu Dhabi. I especially love that mat racer!

The Ride Entertainment Group has sent us a press release regarding the Skycoaster coming to Wet'n'Wild Sydney!

In the seven years since the Ride Entertainment Group purchased Skycoaster®, the world’s most popular up-charge attraction, Skycoaster® has proven its amazing staying power. Anchored by a solid management and safety team, Skycoaster® attractions can now be found on six continents around the globe. With two new installations opening in 2013, and Kennywood, our original amusement park location still selling out flights during the summer, Skycoaster® truly has become the world’s thrill ride.

A key part of the Skycoaster® success has been its integration into the Ride Entertainment Group of Companies. Ride Entertainment CEO Ed Hiller said, “Skycoaster® has been a wonderful acquisition for us. We have used them as part of our revenue share program through Entertainment Finance Group, and Entertainment Management Group, our technical arm, has worked on several different Skycoaster® projects for customers. However, the real key to our success has been the people that came with Skycoaster®. Mike Gutknecht, Director of Skycoaster®, and Jason Anderson, Assistant Director of Skycoaster®, have been real assets to our team.”

One of the new-for-2013 installations will be at Wet N Wild in Sydney, Australia. This will be the second Skycoaster® with the Village Roadshow group and the first location to unveil the all-new Skycoaster® design. “We are particularly excited about our second Australian installation”, said Gutknecht. “We started with a clean sheet of paper on this project and are very proud of the engineering we’ve put into it. This particular dual Skycoaster® will stand 251 feet tall and will have significantly less steel than any other Skycoaster® of similar size. This was necessary to help us meet the extremely stringent Australian wind codes”

Gutknecht is overseeing the design and engineering of the new Skycoaster® arch and towers. “The Australia project has really given us the opportunity to grow our capabilities,” he said.

Jason Anderson is enjoying his tenth year with the company. He said, “It has been great working here, especially as a part of the Ride Entertainment team.” Anderson oversees the safety and certification side of the enviable Skycoaster® program. “Our collection of customers is really a great family. A key component of our unique safety system is bringing all of our parks and vendors together each year for Skycoaster® University. Here we discuss the proper methods of operation and safety to ensure that each site offers the best guest experience possible.”

Hiller is happy that the future remains bright for Skycoaster® and the Ride Entertainment Group as a whole. “Ride Entertainment started as a sales company and has grown into a full service amusement park business with sales, revenue share, installation and operations divisions. We have seen a lot of change over the past few years and I look forward to continued business growth throughout the industry,” he said.

^The demand is definitely there, plenty of people and nice long summers. I'm surprised Australia doesn't have more of these places to be honest, even in Melbourne you'd get a decent six-month season from October to March where the weather is warm enough for it.

^lack of flights to Sydney

Is that more of the "Wonderland closed because of 9/11" reasoning? My understanding was always that these attractions in Australia didn't draw from outside tourist and demised due to poor management. Wonderland Sydney seemed like it was begging to close.

Well considering the Sydney airport is about to reach capacity... I think the argument about people coming in is fine!

Wonderland, had poor management and no new attractions for years leading up to its close. This park has the backing of a rapidly growing company Village Roadshow, who are also set to announce a park in China based on their Sea World property on the Gold Coast with plans for Wet'n'Wild there as well!!

There is a local guy (or girl) who post a video every weekend of this.

They have been pretty boring, but recently the slides started rising, and it's well worth a look.

Here's the latest one:

I really love the colors of the Tornado, and that OctoKraken racer looks insane, it will easily be the best mat slide Whitewater has ever done.

I wouldn't normally make a special trip for a waterpark, but this might be an exception. There are at least five or six rides that would be headliners at most other parks. With the sheer number that are going in, this place will have a huge capacity!

Skycoaster has been topped off: http://www.news.com.au/travel/australia/the-wests-wildest-wet-ride/story-e6frfq89-1226681683737

Article touts it as the 'largest attraction of its kind'. Not 100% sure about this as if it's 10m higher than the Opera House that would make it 250ft, so still shorter than the one at Fun Spot USA. However it might be the tallest double Skycoaster. Should give a decent thrill at any rate!

If only Melbourne hadn't blown $100m on this unfinished mess we probably could have had something similar...

It's been a while since this thread was updated, so here's one.

Here's the second Whitewater tower, featuring Rattler, Boomerango, Constrictor four Blasters as well as a few pipelines.

Here's Proslide heaven with a dark Tornado (with the same awsome helix drop as the one in Souther Denmark), Tantrum Alley and a Tornado Wave.

Here is the second Proslide tower with a Bowling alley, a Mammoth and a Mammoth Bubba.

Same.

And here is my favorite complex of the park, Whitewater Whizzard Twist mat racer and Aqualoops.

More Proslide.

More Whitewater.

Lazy river from above, with a pretty big lagoon entrance.

Proslide tower 1.

Proslide tower 2.

Whitewater tower 1.

An overview.

The park is getting one of the awesome Surf Pools, I have no idea however who is making it. It's not Whitewater or Murphy's who are your "go to" guys for these, so I'm suspecting that they may have gone with the new Chinese knock off company that made the pool for the Beijing Happy Magic park.

People are getting cross about ticket prices: www.news.com.au/national-news/nsw-act/wet8217n8217wild-sydney-ceo-chris-warhurst-says-premium-tickets-are-8216good-value8217/story-fnii5qqu-1226741218178

Last week the Blacktown Advocate’s Facebook page was inundated with hundreds of complaints about the $124.99 price tag on a premium season pass to the water park, which will open in December.

The single entry prices received an even larger reaction when posted on Facebook by the Advocate earlier today.

“That's ridiculous. To get my family in it will cost us $340 – not going to happen,” Yvonne Cole said, echoing the thoughts of many who responded.

But Wet'n'Wild Sydney CEO Chris Warhurst, who earlier this week was forced to defend the cost of the gold season pass, said the single entry pricing was reflective of the quality of the entertainment on offer.

Single entry is $69.99, which does seem on the pricey side. Certainly more expensive than WnW Gold Coast, or even Disney's Blizzard Beach/Typhoon Lagoon parks. That said, the selection of slides looks great, and $125 for a season pass seems reasonable enough, so I guess they're trying to push people towards purchasing that.

I thought they might have some sort of premium season pass which included VRTP's Gold Coast parks as well, but haven't seen anything so far. I feel like the Aussie parks could get a little smarter with their pricing models. A premium entry ticket that included a skycoaster ride and flowrider time, for example, or an 'off-peak' season pass only valid on weekdays.

Right I mean Wet 'n Wild Brisbane even has a roller coaster! And Dreamworld's waterpark was pretty awesome with the water coaster-slide. I'd only expect to pay that much at say- Belantis or Atlantis waterpark in Dubai or Bahamas.

I think you mean Wet'n'Wild Gold Coast, and whilst yes it has a coaster (which was originally designed to go to Sea World), I think in terms of ride quality, count and how its been designed (layout) this park will have the edge. Its only $10 more than the Gold Coast version. White Water World, Dreamworld's waterpark IMO is weak compared to what the VRTP offer, and is only $15 cheaper than the Sydney park, its only designed to compliment the theme park and since it's only had 2 mediocre rides added since its 2005 opening, while Wet'n'Wild has had something like 7 additions.

Granted this park has a much higher yearly pass, compared to its sister Gold Coast combined pass the Gold VIP, which was about $110 when I bought it and includes unlimited entry to Sea World, Wet'n'Wild, Movie World, until June 30 2014, and one free entry to Movie World's Fright Night and White Christmas and is now only $79.99.

However the 2 Gold Coast park operators appear to be in a pricing war with their yearly passes.

Its clear Sydney want you to buy their yearly pass, like the Gold Coast parks want, heck its more expensive currently to buy a day ticket to Sea World and Movie World ($84.99) than to buy a VIP Pass!

Nonetheless they've priced to the market, I predict this park is going to see huge crowds everyday, no matter what people have said about the prices it won't stop how busy this park will be and they know that, hence the pricing.

The park also now has the website up and running, with opening hours appearing to be 10am to 10pm with special lighting installed on the slides for nighttime.
