Hattuchili
I am ill at home for the next days. Have I ever said, that I hate needles!? Today I woke up and couldn´t hear anything on my left ear. I was really shocked. Then I drove to my doctor and he started with a drip therapie. That means I have to go there everyday, for the next 7 days, to get my injection. I really hate syringes. However, then the nurse shot the needle the first time... Nurse: Ops, I missed the vein, sorry. Me: It is okay, try it again. Nurse: Oh, I missed the vein, again. Sorry, It will try it again Me: Hmm, okay. Nurse: Damn, I missed it, again. Me: Sorry, do you ever made this before? Nurse: Sure. Let´s try again. Me: hmmmmmm..... Nurse: Oh, ah... ... I am so sorry... Me: I know, You missed the vein! Do you know that it really hurt? Nurse: Yeah, I know, sorry! Come one let´s try it one more time. This time I promise it will work! Me: Really? What will I get, if it doesn´t work? Nurse: (only smile, no answer) Nurse: Oh, it works.... everything is okay.... Me: Thanks god! You see it was really hard there. I came out with my health insurance certificate and 5 plaster on my right hand! Yeah, I love that nurse and I am very happy to go there tomorrow, again! Anyway, that means I am at home for the next days. Maybe you will finde the one or other joke to make me smile, again! --Sören "hate needles" Schomburg Edited September 18, 2005 by Hattuchili

MrsPhishy
Awww, sorry to hear that Soren! I'm glad you went to the doctor, sudden hearing loss needs to be examined right away. Many people wait a few days to see if it gets better, then it is sometimes too late. What did the hearing test show? I know a little about ears, if you have any questions, pm me. Hope you feel better! Karen
moinab
Wow, Soren! I'm sorry to hear you are ill. That must be a very nasty infection. Being a nursing student, I am also sorry to hear that you got stuck so many times. I'm not very skilled at sticking veins, yet, so I am nervous about doing this to people! I hope you are 100% better very soon! {{{{hugs}}}} Maureen Edited September 16, 2005 by moinab

MrsPhishy
Hey sorry to hear about that Soren! (no pun intended) I have a question, is normal the zero line on that sheet? Sorry again! Normal hearing is generally considered anything from 25 dB and better. So the hearing in his right ear (on the left side of the graph) is normal with a moderate hearing loss in the left ear. MrsPhishy
-> Karen, this is my fourth time I had this problem with my ear. It is always the left ear. The first time was in 1998. Every time I had this, I woke up and have heard nothing on the left ear, only a very bad noise. I have a tinnitus since 1998, but it is still okay. However, every time I had this hearing loss the noise was much louder. On the picture you can see how my hearing was, today! Thats terrible that you keep having this problem! The graph is actually a bit incomplete, it doesn't show whether it is a conductive or sensorineural loss (which probably means nothing to you but I have no idea what the words for that are in German) which makes a big difference. I would assume based on the configuration is that it's conductive, most likely fluid in your middle ear. What are they injecting you with? Antibiotics? Do they know that those come in liquid and pill forms? Well I hope it gets better, and hopefully it won't continue. If it does, ask to see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor (ENT) if you haven't already. disneygurlz2s
Get well soon, Soren!! I understand what you went through... when I had to be hospitalized in 1998 (I had serious heart problem arise when I was pregant with Sammi) they had to stick the really big vein in my wrist to take a "blood gas", whatever the hell that is (still don't know...don't want to know, actually). The nurse could not get it to do whatever it was supposed to do, so she tries several times, then the other nurse, then an intern..... it hurt like hell, took forever, and did nothing but make my heart race more, which was not a good thing! Needles suck. Hang in there and I'll look forward to the "Soren goes to the Doctor" TR! Shari

Karen Hey Karen, thanks for the kind of words. I have an ENT doctor for this problem, since 1998. The sketch is not very exactly. I made it by myself. Maybe it is even more worse. Everyday they inject me Buflomedil 50mg/5ml in 250ml NaCl 0,9%. Do you know that medicine? My doctor knows, that those come in liquid and pill forms. The pills called “Trental”, but it works not as good as the liquid medicine, for me! I can use Trental at the evening, before going to my doctor, when I have a problem. --Sören Here is a picture of the medicine: Edited August 12, 2011 by Hattuchili

There is only one nurse, that is really good at inject needles, but she is still on vacation. However, thanks god, she will be back next wednesday. Anyway, be sure there will be a new photo TR. I made a few pictures, today. Maybe I post the pictures later. --Sören
Hattuchili
Come on Soren lets be honest! You have over a Thousand Posts on this site, so you can speak the truth. By Infected "Ear" didn't you really mean infected "PeePee"??? So what really happened??? Did you have a few to many beers at the local pub??? Which lead to a late night "Encounter" with a Pretty Female Stranger??? Hmmmmm!!!??? The next thing you know when you go to the bathroom, you have an unbearable "Burning" sensation!!! Is this sounding familiar??? The Nurse knowing of your Sinful Behavior intentionally misses your vein on several attempts, to punish you!!! But, thanks to the amazing abilities of modern Antibiotics you'll be all better in the near future!!! Thanks for the joke, but be sure it is not that funny. Everything I said is true. It really sucks, to go there every day, to get an injection. Maybe you can go there for me, to get pricked 5 times or more, each day! However, there will be a few pictures later, where you can see it is all true! --Sören
