I forget that the back row of Apollo is one of the best coaster experiences anywhere.

This seems to be a well-kept secret. Too many people are inexplicably obsessed with Nitro (and its utter lack of airtime on several hills), when Apollo has EASILY the best B&M hyper experience in the back row (right seat specifically).

Great TR! As usual, I-305 looks like pure sex and I don't know if I can survive another year without getting over to Virginia and riding it. Your pictures of it are really great too. I think your iphone takes better photos than my Canon digital camera!

I usually don't do fast-lane/fast pass but it looks like KD has a good system so it's something I'd seriously consider if I were going. Skyrush looks amazing as well! And the colors on that wooden coaster are really unique.

I go back and forth between Apollo and Goliath at SFOG for my favorite B&M Hyper, they're both really good.

I agree, I still think I give the nod to Goliath for great airtime on EVERY hill, but those shots on Apollo in the back (first drop, twisty drop, mid course drop, and final drop) are absolutely AWESOME.

^^The fastlane system at KD was flawless. Worth every penny just to ride I305 over and over again

I agree that Goliath in the back is the best hyper experience. I think that Diamondabck is a close second. That first drop is insane. Too bad the back rattles too much on that. Maybe I just need to ride it again, but AC comes in near the end of the hypers for me, just ahead of Intimidator.

^Diamondback is probably one of my lowest rated B&M hypers just barley above Raging Bull. I hate the layout on Diamondback, as big as it is it just felt like it didnt do anything. Yeah the drop is okay and there is a little air here and there but overall it was pretty forgetable.

I'm working all day today and moving over the weekend, so I'll probably update this Monday! Stay tuned for a full day at Hersheypark

Agreed. To me, Diamondback felt like a giant, oversized mine train. It was just forceless and uneventful.

See I felt that way about Intimidator. When you can sit and talk to your partner while riding instead of focusing on the ride experience then something is wrong. Maybe I just caught Diamondback on a good 2 days because it is my 2nd fav hyper. I also was not that impressed with Nitro. I was expecting more the way people talk about it but it was fairly boring to me.

I didn't know that they served barley on Raging Bull. Anyway, last year I rode Goliath in the back seat, and the trims killed the ride. I barely had any airtime at all.

Sounds like you're the closest to me of everyone posting in this thread so far. Diamondback is my second favorite B&M hyper and I rank it quite highly overall. (For what it's worth, it's second to, well...Raging Bull.) I'm also not a particular fan of Nitro, or the somewhat comparable Goliath at La Ronde.

Based on both my own experiences with B&M hypers and the opinions of others, I really can't predict whether I'll enjoy Intimidator, AC, or Deep South Goliath. I'm fairly optimistic for now, though, especially about Goliath.

Strange - we found the opposite - Nitro had loads of airtime (both front and back, and almost made up for toro being out of action that day!), and we all thought that the overall layout and twists on chariot seemed to suck out any air you might get!

weird huh?

Enjoyed this PTR. Nice to see how a Busch Williamsburg, Fast La...errr...King's Dominion, and Hershey trip looks. Wanted to do that trip this year, but time is short so Hershey and Skyrush will get priority, lest there be any alterations. Very much agree with your take on Apollo- a lap on this one in row 9 is as pure as it gets.

Damn that trip looks awesome! I305 then later Skyrush? No big deal. Wow, I really forgot Kings Dominion has Dominator. I really need to get to BGE, Apollo still gets great reviews and is one of those ride's I've seen since I first got on TPR.

I'm loving this TR, Jake. I haven't been to Hershey in a couple of years, and I'm gonna have to head back just for Skyrush. Though, that huge Arcade in the "frontier" themed area is worth the trip too. (Retro gaming freak. )

I love it when people from other parts of the country, especially down south, come up to the home state of my parents to enjoy the parks in the summer. Tell me Jake, have you ever been to Kennywood, or Knoebels?

I have! I visited Knoebels on the East Coast trip in '08 and drove myself to Kennywood in 2010. I love the parks of the East Coast/North East!!! All of my favorite parks and coasters are up there haha.

Working on the Herheypark update now

Time for our day at Hershey!

IMG_2789.thumb.JPG.c2173f928bab1bf458debdc6c845af2b.JPG

The crowds were building up nice and early for day 2 of SkyRush!

IMG_2792.thumb.JPG.c9377a8c7fd4ace8903edd179ef36f12.JPG

This is the most action the new path ever sees haha

IMG_2796.thumb.JPG.1092de81d8d7a503cc7444cd8141e6ae.JPG

This is why you get to parks early, folks! Little waits for the premier attraction =)

IMG_2797.thumb.JPG.498d5e5c9175c069f5ccb1f59d9b9c3c.JPG

Already by the time we rode, this is what the wait looked like ;)

IMG_2800.JPG.57b3b64c439acbc34b5903343003793d.JPG

Great Bear and Sooper Dooper Looper in action from SkyRush's station. It provides great view of the Hollow

IMG_2801.thumb.JPG.e64a996c39a67b1b55c2a9b01f1a0b1e.JPG

Our first chariot of the day awaits. I can see so many tears from the break run. But regardless even in the morning the ride is just as insane as ever!

IMG_2802.thumb.JPG.232846fb3084a8e1559a58ecfae9b539.JPG

Time to make our rounds of the park. This guy greets us at Sooper Dooper Looper

SHINY NEW TRAINS! By the way they were awesome. HELLO MAGIC MOUNTAIN

IMG_2807.thumb.JPG.8bb1fff42b7da49cef0da2b082ada6bc.JPG

This is still the best ride sign EVER.

IMG_2808.thumb.JPG.784d3c3bff029dca73b8990a09e06d06.JPG

Great Bear is still one of my favorite inverts. Love the unique layout!!!

IMG_2809.thumb.JPG.6eaf9123c52e56f9b7fe006b7d57e890.JPG

Ladies, who wants to go for a ride?

IMG_2812.JPG.a25503930885660a57f2a2327186214a.JPG

This is where they make the chocolate

IMG_2813.thumb.JPG.09304c14f15db287864a04d1143d877e.JPG

The new look Hollow. Love how they build the rides all over each other. Favorite theme park area evar!?!?

IMG_2814.JPG.cc908ac78d97d31659509a89ea8a28af.JPG

And an overview of just SkyRush. Just beautiful...

IMG_2819.JPG.5405657409e3a7f301617460297dbd78.JPG

And this would be the other side of the park

IMG_2820.JPG.98881327d65926ebfe8b43ec41457d05.JPG

Storm Runner is so weird. It's a huge ride and dominates some areas of the park, yet you can be right under it and it seems completely hidden

IMG_2825.JPG.dafd78e280a2140b1b1e013e64864c16.JPG

But I'll take this wait for Storm Runner anytime! Best launcher and totally in my top 10. Go Intamin!

IMG_2827.thumb.JPG.6f48cc7ccfb932d61e1071839546b2bf.JPG

Speaking of Intamin, how about a lap on Fahrenheit?

IMG_2828.thumb.JPG.ba4b4250eb2d4785cbf6557bc9a08d81.JPG

Short line here also, I hear this is a rare thing!

IMG_2831.thumb.JPG.377cd326c2c357c794651968f41d7973.JPG

We chose to go with the back row.

IMG_2832.thumb.JPG.74f1a90646a7da27335f88dd732f8163.JPG

I thought the back row on this thing was totally wicked! It's pretty awesome for a compact looper with extreme airtime and 6 inversions packed in a small footprint. I really think there should be more of these if capacity could somehow be increased!

IMG_2833.thumb.JPG.8e90b44d31eee968f2c41600794d8d3b.JPG

The original GCI

IMG_2834.thumb.JPG.e096d8235c9557a8f02ea8f724a80dd7.JPG

It was just ok. Needs retracking!!!

IMG_2836.thumb.JPG.1db78d5ec3f365ff254b513a21edca6d.JPG

Lightning Racer was great fun! Got lucky right before it went down.

IMG_2841.thumb.JPG.66ef71b06502f969e3f2c61e73754f00.JPG

We decided for a lap on the monorail before it got busier.

IMG_2845.thumb.JPG.ea40504f399c452a727f7dfac34cfe8f.JPG

It has awesome views of Storm Runner!

IMG_2846.thumb.JPG.6cdbfa767307c740b13a2ecfc96c39d3.JPG

...And Trailblazer. We rode this at some point haha

IMG_2847.thumb.JPG.e7b0415b71fcfc25e77b5d84a9e7c280.JPG

But see what I mean?

IMG_2848.thumb.JPG.6d737e6c4e241dabce59239e4fb89e14.JPG

I really like tophats. You go high really quickly, get ejected, and drop straight down. Way to go Intamin again!

IMG_2849.thumb.JPG.8ed0b81f643988c4883a021cd1dd4d8d.JPG

I had never done this before and heard it was AMAZING

IMG_2850.thumb.JPG.e55e08aee90d146e8f7fa22080349f20.JPG

same.

IMG_2852.thumb.JPG.cb26e882f06fe6aa7bb7c07665fabb66.JPG

All I'm going to say is...WTF did I just experience???

IMG_2855.thumb.JPG.d47fc30e3108d30d8f938c357018a34f.JPG

We went souvenir shopping. College supplies gotten.

IMG_2856.thumb.JPG.1afc8f150e77f3a3fbdfda16144c559b.JPG

Bad weather rolled in around noon and we were exhausted so we went to Red Robin for lunch around the corner from the parking lot and spent some time at Chocolate World.

IMG_2858.JPG.f5b2e7bc26faa03725a8fa35099a2f85.JPG

These looked absolutely amazing. If only I could have stomached them after Red Robin haha

IMG_2857.thumb.JPG.6dcec09885c7f408110c909b5f50585d.JPG

We were here for the dark ride

IMG_2863.thumb.JPG.2363d470f90936363da49ecd30dc9a3f.JPG

Singing cows!

IMG_2870.thumb.JPG.57b09c6113eeeb4ba016d3d6e9dd5135.JPG

Poor kit kat :(

IMG_2872.thumb.JPG.e4ff77643946b4f54b3d0229b130b382.JPG

SAN ANTONIO?!? Hersheypark are you a wizard

IMG_2860.thumb.JPG.06ccad04221b1202218ce0cd7685657e.JPG

They have the new create your own chocolate bar thing...but the wait was like 4 hours. NO THANKS!

IMG_2876.thumb.JPG.27754ce036406aa6fffd7bede7702399.JPG

We waited out the weather delays with some milk. This was sooo good and helped with the exhaustion from our 3-day marathon.

IMG_2878.thumb.JPG.6a614f113a2e609e3708de1704a3c0d1.JPG

But after the weather cleared it was time for more SkyRush!!!

IMG_2879.JPG.e416b92d91bff037159ca9cf76702951.JPG

Absolutely gorgeous ride and location.

IMG_2880.thumb.JPG.1d35ba4b2f06cfead4fe4feafb4f0326.JPG

Me and my #2

IMG_2883.thumb.JPG.8ce8c6d8a92c66497556ffadfcde5c45.JPG

First drop madness.

IMG_2884.thumb.JPG.3e12112212f27a2a60b61404c51913b3.JPG

It's unreal standing on the path and feeling the train rush by. See what I did there?

IMG_2885.thumb.JPG.adac731ad042953bd2767ec9f5600475.JPG

NEGATIVE TWO

IMG_2886.thumb.JPG.a855cfa3d33626d978b9064eab91d5c6.JPG

Forget through the trees, through the water is the new in.

IMG_2887.JPG.18fdb05c06d81fd06532ed4bdfa9b692.JPG

The ride is TWISTY! The laterals here are wild

IMG_2889.thumb.JPG.1f43e230a75e85f0de177e75eb7eba42.JPG

Love how the path just snakes right through here. It's so close!

IMG_2891.JPG.085dd4af4fc9bcb1371ad8cfc4174b14.JPG

Looking back at the twisty hill.

IMG_2893.thumb.JPG.eb35dc7c0446f12d91944b6a53341b5b.JPG

Only a few more, I promise...

IMG_2894.thumb.JPG.5856562a86d40350faf73b171e1f1891.JPG

Just crossing over.

IMG_2904.thumb.JPG.1fef0e8dca158bdecc5dbd1fb6b54fdf.JPG

and coming right at you

IMG_2908.thumb.JPG.da5a84805a7740a1694ae85f9be8519e.JPG

The final airtime hill is the most insane yet

IMG_2909.thumb.JPG.f559433d0825ec8c2e690d155b657a91.JPG

This is the true definition of through the trees.

IMG_2913.thumb.JPG.1f426b0b7edaf9b7195b191cae0898ab.JPG

It's kinda cool how the cable goes right under comet and right above the water. Yay engineering!

IMG_2915.thumb.JPG.6a02bc8fe533c4a9b233d8bd1820231f.JPG

And the weather threats scared everyone away!!! Hardly any wait at all

IMG_2918.JPG.5771b4bfe79009bdc31aae60dd8e9845.JPG

We finally got a ride in towards the front. Still insane but stay in the back haha

IMG_2919.thumb.JPG.6d3393c80a1f6480b9681e4a5353d2d0.JPG

Why is Comet's line just as long as SkyRush's??

IMG_2922.thumb.JPG.24b588767d153dbe93e1cf9ece7bd9af.JPG

Comet's crew was the worst I have ever seen and perfectly demonstrated everything that is wrong with Hershey's ride operations

IMG_2924.thumb.JPG.b73c829933f096b992ca6d897658f6ab.JPG

Oh yeah, this ride is here too. At least it got new trains!

IMG_2926.JPG.9ac7a81e8dd6f0f614c724879f2f6a3d.JPG

Flying Snake Dive = <3

IMG_2929.thumb.JPG.7d0425822602bbb87cf4d20da1b016eb.JPG

We rode the swings.

IMG_2930.thumb.JPG.496def3e33f8e3fe1e385ddf6d7d37d4.JPG

Just like I-305, we lived in the back row of SkyRush

IMG_2932.thumb.JPG.0db9b8042d149bb6ac6aa581aabcfdc4.JPG

Little do we know, this would be our last ride.

IMG_2933.thumb.JPG.b564c1f30464039dcde33efcce7f54cf.JPG

That sky isn't looking so good...

IMG_2934.thumb.JPG.1c7f2e76dd18133f08ba9c3149f4971f.JPG

They actually evacuated the station due to the lightning. The park's midways are so much safer!

IMG_2935.thumb.JPG.adfd788a794d5c68cc2ef08bc02a0d2a.JPG

It was around 7 and the skies just opened up on Hersheypark. We did get about 5-6 rides though which is amazing for opening weekend!

IMG_2937.thumb.JPG.df10dea5e024eb9149c7258faefc798b.JPG

We headed out, but I did grab this sweet key chain. It broke the other day though :/

IMG_2940.thumb.jpg.c5ccb3bfa405d3c24bc4056401ecdbff.jpg

We then embarked on the long drive down to Florida. It was great until we hit this haha. I love the clear path from Jax to Gainesville though, where we were driving!

IMG_2950.thumb.JPG.941b45ebf114e6f2681e5f68de1938d1.JPG

I got home Monday night just in time to celebrate Memorial Day! FUU yeah AMERICUH. In the end it was amazing 2300 mile trip covering 5 days, 5 parks, new credits, and 3 amazing new attractions and 2 of the best steel coasters in the world, and my #1 and #2. Would do it all over again! Thanks for checking it out.

Terrific stuff. Coasters and chocolate...you really can't go wrong with that combo.

I always make it a point to go on the Great American Chocolate Tour before anything else. It really gets me in the mood for the day. I also know from experience how great their chocolate milk and other goodies can be. I remember they had frozen cocoa at one point. Never got to try it, but it sounded good.
