P. 74: Park expansion approval and rethemed rides announced!

Recommended Posts

And I thought it was a simple retrack, But it seems like they take the chance to smooth it out here and there. I wouldn't be angry if they bank the entry to the Helix, more inline with Shaman at Gardaland, the old entry to the Python was very flat.

Is this Python one of the first of it's kind, debuting in 1981? I know that a good number of steel coasters with elements,

debuted in Europe, various parks like this one, and Walibi Holland, Europa, etc.

So I thought I'd just ask.

Efteling will keep the reservation system at Python

The Efteling will keep the free reservation system at Python when the ride re-opens later this year. The experiment in which visitors had to reserve a Boarding Pass before a ride was, according to a spokeswoman, successful. That is why it will be definitively introduced this spring.

"We tested the Boarding Pass for a few months last autumn and the results were positive," says the information officer. "Our guests appreciate the simplicity of the system, which is why we continue."

The concept will not be adjusted. This means that the normal queue of Python closes when the Boarding Pass is active. Visitors can only join the queue with a reservation. Requesting a Boarding Pass for a time of your choice can be done via the Efteling app or with the aid of ticket machines next to the attraction.

A maximum number of people is allowed every 15 minutes. This way the queue stays short. This principle is the Efteling's variant of Disney's FastPass system, although there is always a normal row available there. At the same time, the queue is also adjusted. The Efteling introduces, among other things, a special single riders row for the attraction.

There are also rumors going around that the Boarding Pass will be introduced at the new-for-2017 family attraction Symbolica. It will be tested for a couple of weekends, after which the park will decide whether it will be introduced permanently or not.

Oh come on

I get that it's ideal to keep queues tight when it's such a popular park but please at least disable it in the off peak season.

I obviously couldn't say without going there first and experiencing but something tells me it's much less fun to have to plan out your day rather than just go there and join whichever queue you feel like, especially with a park as big as efteling where walking from ride to ride takes on average 5-15 minutes so you'd have to hang around whatever ride you reserved for.

I'm surprised this test was considered a success. I've been to the park in the testing phase and all the time I was there it was disabled or the ride was closed, heck the system was broken for a good month (If I recall correct) so I never got to say what I thought of this system.

I'm nor upset by the Symbolica announcement. I didn't intend to ride that for a good while after my last ride was just too dull. Not all that shimmers is gold is the best phrase that fits the ride in my opinion. (I mean a beautiful darkride isn't automatically a good one imo)

Been today in the Efteling wanted to share some pictures from the Python construction.

It starts to look complete.

Corkscrews are done.

Just the helix left.

And this, I'm curious how this will be connected. I mean the Python used to be welded together so this is the most interesting thing in the whole project.

Thought it was funny these three still at the site.

As far as I could see all the supports where back in place meaning only track work remained.

No change in the skyline of this ride.

It seems like next week they can be full circle again.

That transition into the corkscrews looks so smooth now!

It is rumored that the piece of track that connects the old Python with the new one doesn't fit properly. I saw photos of them trying to "move" the first looping by pulling on it with chains. It will be interesting to see how they are going to solve this.

I actually didn't hear about this untill you mentioned it. But now I've seen imagery on this (I don't want to share because I can't find the original source.) But this shows how bad the situation really is, they removed a fair amount of the old track. It still hasn't been placed as what I've read that it still doesn't fit.

Still I see no cause for panic as they're one two track pieces away from reaching the lowest part of the helix and the ride which comes in line with the rest of the track being done this week.
