For anyone even considering I totally recommend this! I did the Knott's shoot on Accelerator yesterday and I think everyone (with the exception of my friend who had never been on before) rode the coaster about 7 to 10 times. An exception to the rule, however, if if you never have been on before. My friend had not been to Knott's for 11 years so they attached a microphone to her, interviewed her, but that took most of the shoot time so she only got a ride or two. Everyone else just rode a ton of times all morning! It really was an awesome day and a group of us continued to hang out at the park for a few hours after the shoot! Awesome times!

I would like to second this...the shoot at Knott's was a great time. If the shooting at the other parks is similar, I'd recommend going if you can. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay after the shoot.

To answer the question above, we were all at the shoot from about 7:30 til 10:00, so allowing 3 hours would probably be best.

About the same for the Sea World shoot but we could only get 4 rides in, they took a while for the interview at the top of the lift. So we had an hour to get as many rides in as we could, but we had to follow the rule too of 2 rides then a break.

Looks like the Dollywood shoot will be Tuesday and Wednesday next week. No word yet on possible coasters (I assume Wild Eagle will be one of them) that the filming will be done on. Sounds like there are still spots available so any one near the area should jump on this opportunity!

Sent an email for the CP shoot. Sounds like fun. Any idea on my chances of getting selected? How many people do they choose? I assume enough to fill a few trains on each coaster.. I think MF and TTD are the ones that will be filmed.

From Screamscape:

www.screamscape.com/html/industry_news.htm#General

(4/24/12) The Travel Channel will be showing off a couple of new shows this summer of interest to theme park fans. One is called Xtreme Waterparks and it will premier Sunday, July 8th at 8pm (EST/PST) as they seek out the world’s most over the top water slides.

The other is called Insane Coaster Wars, which will also premier on Sunday, July 8th at 9pm (EST/PST), in a series that not only seeks out the best coasters, but invites thrill seekers to vote in an interactive online poll to vote for their favorite coasters in each episode. The finale episode of the season will count down the Top 10 coasters from the season with the most votes.

It just says when the series starts. I can't wait to see when they did Manta (since I was there...lol).

Splintering Speedsters

Vote for Your Favorite: May 14 – 25, 2012

These wooden wonders are some of the most popular coasters in the country. With rattling bolts and flexing planks, you'll be relieved just knowing you survived the ride.

Featured Coasters: Thunderhead at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN; El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ; The Beast at Kings Island in Mason, OH; The Voyage at Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN.

Vote for your favorite May 14 – 25, 2012

Wrong Way Up

Vote for Your Favorite: May 14 – 25, 2012

Sky-high loops and endless inversions will send you on a breathtaking, head-over-heels adventure. These rides spend the most time upside down. By the end, you'll be asking,"Which way is up?"

Featured Coasters: Kraken at Sea World Orlando, FL; Wild Eagle at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN; Hydra the Revenge at Dorney Park in Allentown, PA; Vortex at Kings Island in Mason, OH.

Vote for Your Favorite: May 21 – June 1, 2012

Vote for Your Favorite: May 21 – June 1, 2012

Get ready to fly at the speed of fear. These are some of the fastest roller coasters on the planet, reaching speeds of up to 128 miles per hour.

Featured Coasters: Coming Soon!

Vote for Your Favorite: May 21 – June 1, 2012

These were posted in an article on May 7th from the Travel Channel for the last 2 categories:

Extreme Heights” – Intimidator (Carowinds – Fort Mill,

SC/Charlotte, NC) and Kingda Ka (Six Flags – Jackson, NJ). Remaining

coasters TBD.

Speed” – Xcelerator (Knott’s Berry Farm – Buena Vista, CA),

Bizarro (Six Flags – Agawam, MA) and Desperado (Buffalo Bill’s

Resort and Casino – Primm, NV). Fourth coaster TBD.

They did go to Cedar Point, so TTD and Millennium Force are on there I believe. Also Griffon may be the last one. Hopefully they will post soon.

The categories are "interesting". Hang 'em High and Splintering Speedsters make sense. However, I am a bit perplexed by G-Force Giants. I mean SheiKra is a nice ride and all, but I don't think I would put it up there with having extreme G's. Also with "Wrong Way Up", I don't think Wild Eagle really belongs with 4 inversions. Then again, where would you place it with the categories given? Just my take.
