99er
I have a ton of pictures of panels but most are printed pictures from an old film camera. One of these days I will get around to scanning them in. Here is what I have on my computer that people haven't already posted. Fly System panel at the Goodtime Theater @ Cedar Point. Giant Wheel @ Alabama Adventure Mind Spinner @ Alabama Adventure Zoomerang @ Alabama Adventure Skyscraper @ Cedar Point.

scottm13
I'd like to bump this thread, anyone else have some pictures of control panels they would like to share? Here's a few of my favorites: (not taken by me, and sadly I do not have the sources to them) Does anyone have a B&M flyer? ajfelice
Ravine Flyer II Sorry about the lack of quality. I'll give you a crash course of how to operate it. Your main switches and buttons are found on the bottom towards the middle. Third green switch in from the left is the gates. You first open the gates by twisting that switch to "open" and letting go right away. The switches are spring loaded so they only stay on open or close if you hold them there, as the switch automatically goes back to the center once you let go. If you lay on the switches or buttons too long the ride faults. Once everyone is mostly seated or the lapbars are all up so none of them have to be manually opened, you twist the lap bar switch found next to the gates switch on the right to "close" and let go just like the gates. Usually you can close the gates at the same time as the lap bars by twisting the same gate switch to "close." Once you get two thumbs up, you press and hold the yellow "dispatch" button until the last car of the train clears the end of the station. When the next train arrives back into the station and parks, you can unlock the lap bars and open the gates at the same time. Along the top you have Ride Stop on the top left, and Emergency Stop on the top right. Below the E-stop is the reset button for faults and the red fault indicator light. Below that is the maintenance mode enable key switch, and further down is the single or double dispatch mode enable key switch (double requires the operator in the back of the station to hold a button just like the dispatch on controls). In the bottom right corner is the main power key switch. On the left below Ride Stop is the buttons used by maintenance for brakes, air compressors, transfer track, and the lift power switch is to the left of the gates switch. Of course, the screen is a touch screen with oodles of functions.
Seddy
Does anyone have a B&M flyer? I would really like to see one of those! I wish I had my old Metro PCS nokia slider phone. I had a good pic of SMUF's panel, along with GASM, Deja Vu and Thunder River's panels. I notice you put 'El Toro's second panel' why did it have two panels? Or was one a remote panel for verification. KK's panel is HUGE and I was expecting a touch screen like a flyer. I absolutely love this thread! Ccron10
I took quite a few photos over the past two years of control panels at some of the parks I've visited. I always find it interesting when certain rides are operated in a different as well as similar way. Here is I305's secondary control panel. It's pretty simple. This is the transfer track control panel for I305. This is Verbolten's control panel from a tour I was on in 2012. I think this is the show control panel for Escape from Pompeii. When Dorney got Demon Drop, it looks like they got a new control panel for the ride. Kingda' Ka's secondary panel. It's kind of similar to I305's. KD's Windseeker secondary control panel looks pretty cool. BGW's Skyride panel. Each station has one of these, which is kind of fancy for a ride like this. SFOT's Oil Derrick's controls is kind of more complicated that what an elevator should probably be. Here is Fire in the Hole's main panel in the maintenance area. This is the layout diagram and you can see how the layout used to be before it was shortened. This is the bottom part of it. Here is Zeus's full control panel at Mount Olympus. It's all manual and kind of makes me cringe everytime I look at this photo. This is the "control panel" for Meteor at Little A-Merrik-A. Completely old-school. Skyride's small control panel at Cedar Point. Spinning Tub ride control panel at City Museum. KI Stunt Coaster's secondary panel still with the Italian Job logo on it. Mr. Freeze's secondary panel at SFStL. Frisbee's control panel at SFFT. Scream's control panel at SFFT, which is an S&S drop tower.
Seddy
^Panel OVERLOAD!!! Ok.. so many comments... 1. Demon Drops new panel looks great! I remember the old panel for Free Fall at SFOG. I'd imagine Demon Drops old panel was similar, if not the same. I remember them being sooo many buttons. Good to see they've simplified things. Lol. I wonder what types of information is displayed on that screen!!! 2. I Lol'd @ 'Restraints are in minimum position for largest guest' I am at a loss of words. 3. Verboltens panel looks extremely complex. I like how there are buttons to power the launches and the vertical drop. Any better shots of this one? Not that im not grateful for your contribution already!! Lol 4. I was just doing a Google search for Mr. Freeze's panel(s) and you post the secondary panel!!! Unfortunately I couldnt find one of the main panel. Im just interested in seeing how the dual launches work with the panel. Same goes for S:EFK. Seddy
Is the panel Aftershock is currently using the same one it used at SFGAm I wonder? Do you know if that Aftershock pic looks the same as Deja Vu's at SFOG did? It looks the same to me with the exception of the mic being built into the panel. I know the buttons below the screen on the green side are for the gates, (entrance and exit/ open and close) and to lock/unlock restraints. The center button near the bottom is the warning horn and the outside buttons are to dispatch the train. The dispatch buttons do not have to be held until the train leaves. Once u hear the current collector rising (sounds like air being released), you're good to go. All those buttons on the yellow side control different parts of the ride (catcher open/close, jog up/down -- 4 buttons per catcher. Platform up/down. Current collector up/down -- the current collector is that little arm that drops down and connects to the train while it's in the station. This sends power to the train to lock and unlock the restraints) If you look at an off ride video of a GIB you'll see it near the front of the train above the track. IOE
I'm trying to remember specifically when we started adding the mushroom pushbuttons to the B&Ms but I believe it was before the flyers. Air is a bit different as they had requested we use the smaller size of pushbuttons as that's what they are used to. I SHOULD have a lot more of these to add but the few pics of the booths I took, people have already posted (the CGA Gold Striker one made my day to see). I do have this one however: Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood As for the B&Ms and GCIs, I can answer pretty much any questions on how those work, so feel free to ask! IOE
^Yes, I worked for Consign for over 13 years before forming Irvine Ondrey Engineering about a year and 1/2 ago. We did the controls this past year for Gold Striker and White Lightning and are currently working on Lightning Run at Kentucky Kingdom. You can check us out on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/IrvineOndreyEngineering) as we try to post information and pictures from our own unique perspective. And yes, we'll definitely post more panel shots both there and here if you want them. I forgot about that Air panel. That was one of my projects so if you are curious I should be able to dig up what everything on the panel does. Seddy
Does anyone know if all B&M flyers have mushroom buttons? I know that Tatsu and Manta do, but what about S:UF at sfgam? I do know that SMUF at SFOG has mushroom dispatch buttons as well. And a touch screen just like Air's which shows the status of the trains, seats, flaps, pins, radio comm, etc. But the seats are latched and locked by secondary panels (there's one on each side) that also control the air gates. There is a single mushroom dispatch button on the secondary panel as well. Like any coaster, that button must be pressed along with the 2 on the main control panel in order to initiate dispatch or return a train from the transfer brake. SMUF was my favorite ride to operate because of all of the different components. And time always flew when both sides were loading!
