Where in the World are Robb & Elissa??? 2012 Edition!

Recommended Posts

Remember to not just blurt out an answer without showing how the clues helped you get there. There is only a finite number of places in the world so someone would eventually guess the right answer just by blurting it out.

Any of these type of answers will be deleted so please use the clues posted here, on the Facebook page and on the Twitter link to come up with your guesses.

Robb has sent me some more photos!

that first photo (Vegas), is taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Casino/Hotel.

and Paris is one of the destinations listed on the two page Airline spread.

so more evidence of a European trip!

are they possibly going to Jardin d'Acclimatation in Paris? (I know, it's a kiddie park, but it DOES have coaster credits)

Hum... I'm think that you are going to Brazil by Tam... It has a lot of green (the Amazon forest) and Rio de Janeiro is a city in Brazil... Ahh, and my guess is that the Manta relates to the new rollercoaster in Hopi Hari... It won't break any world records, but it will be the headliner of the park.

MCO, the Virgin Atlantic sign, the Monorail and the flying coaster:

Virgin Atlantic flies to London Gatwick- where a Monorail links the rotunda terminal to the main terminal building

Flying coaster: Alton Towers has the first Flyer

My best guess (Without opening a PNR file...)

You're heading to London/the UK to ride SWARM at Thorpe Park.

I’m late to the game, but I agree 100 percent with this logic—and have more to add. The sign for gates 90-99 is reflected in the “B” of the Best Buy sign. Assuming this is MCO (which I think is a safe assumption), that would place the Alveys either at the area for gates 80-89 or 100-129. The latter is the Airtran/Southwest area, so assuming this is an international trip, as the CNN International clue would lead us to believe, that would eliminate domestic airlines. That leaves 80-89, which are the home gates for Virgin Atlantic and Lufthansa.

The British clues (the Queen, the London magazine page, etc.) would indicate Virgin Atlantic was the airline of choice. Others have noted that the McDonald’s photo is from Jackson-Hartsfield in Atlanta, which would suggest a layover there. A lot of people have noted that the crossword comes from Delta’s in-flight magazine. While I would not have known that (or the location of the McDonald’s), I do know that those magazines are also available in each airline’s “club” lounge… and as much flying as the Alveys do, I would imagine they’re a member of several of those clubs, including Delta’s, which would grant them access to a Delta lounge (and that red-herring magazine) during the Atlanta layover.

From there, the clues seem to be divided between England, France and those that don’t seem to fit with either country. However, since Swarm is about to open in England, I would give that the edge… though that brings me back to the early monorail clue. It’s not exactly a monorail… but could a Chunnel trip to France be in the works, as well?

EDITED to compensate for new clues added since I started this post: The Love Boat? Could be the show they watched on the way to England… or, coupled with the photo of Queen Elizabeth, they could be aboard Cunard’s relatively new luxury ocean liner, the “Queen Elizabeth.” Could this be the beginning of "Cruise Ship Review"?

I would guess not Europe, Robb and Elissa typically seem to of Done overnight flights when they travel. I would guess they wouldnt do a day flight to Europe, as you lose a whole day. Also the in-flight wi-fi is only in the Continental US.

I would guess somewhere non Coaster related, but not 100% sure

I'm going to go another way with my guesses.

First I liked shanghai/beijing, but now I realize that it could be Singapore.

The initial shots were of the Orlando airport and as someone else mentioned they definitely flew Delta to ATL.

Shot of Plants - Resembles the lush greenery of Jurassic Park (just wanted to use jurassic park somewhere in my guesses)

Shot of Manta- Battlestar Galactica is a suspended coaster

Shot of Outback- Possibly a layover in Sidney, which was a "BestBuy" (I'm stretching I know

Shot of Orlando Monorail- There is a monorail from the airport at Singapore that takes you to universal

Shot of the Breaded Cat- Resembles a Sphinx.- Revenge of the Mummy at Universal Singapore

Shot of Vegas- The Sentosa resort which houses Universal is a gambling mecca

Shot of Big Rock- Singapore is a large island

Queen of England- Singapore used to be a British colony

Delta Magazine- Singapore is Listed

House of Blues- The Blues Brothers are characters at Universal Studios

Gateway FX- The FX logo really resembles Battle Star Galactica's font.

Revising my first 'collective' efforts:

1.) Heading to ATL to connect to the Afternoon departure bank to Europe... or the MIDDLE EAST

2.) Love Boat: It's a Cruise!

3.) Monorails: That's both Atlanta (Where you have to change terminals even if on a nonstop flight)

4.) The Queen: Piers will be joining them

5.) After the cruise: LA- where the Flyer Tatsu awaits at WCB.

Since the Dubai departures are either mid-afternoon or Midnight, I'm calling out DUBAI/UAE is the destination, for a cruise in the Arabian peninsula.

^ Why would they be going to Dubai/UAE when they are going to Dubai in a couple months? I don't think it's the Middle East just because the Dubai trip isn't that far away.

I think they are going somewhere either to cover some coaster opening, or they are doing a test run of a place that will be offered as a future TPR trip.

I need to catch up on the rest of the clues before I come back and make another guess though.

Good point, Nicole...

And with the latest two clues: I'm going for either Cancun/Cozumel or Panama City, Panama: The terminal design is WAAAY too modern for most other airports in Mexico/Central America- and the design is entirely too clean to be Guatamala/La Aurora or Tegucigalpa/La Frontera airports. However, it IS clean enough to be Panama City/Blanco.

It is most likey Australia...

-Because The picture with "the outback" would mean the desert in Australia called "Outback"

-Picture of the queen, because Australia is part of the commonwealth

-The Giant Rock alludes to Ayers Rock

-The upside down picture of Rob and Elissa (common joke for australlia)

-They shot an episode (or a couple) of the love boat in australlia

-Sydney is on the picture of the article

-there are taking transfers in various locations which would explain the various airport

-the list of movies could allude to Warner Bro.'s studios, where they just opened Green Lantern (a reason to go)

Sorry I'm so late to the party!

What park should we go to before Best Buy? And why???

Animal Kingdom! Cause dammit if you're gonna pay your $4000 for your two week, quadruple occupancy, luxury vacation... well then that's how your day is gonna go!

Picture 3- That's the knockoff Mythos restaurant themed after Warcraft in World Joyland

I like this next airport to be either Ontario (based on the e9 gate) or Liberia based on the lack of internet during flight.
