Chrissie
I haven't done one of these for a looonnng time! So during Summer 2011, I went on vacation to Italy and spent a couple of days at the Gardaland Resort. I actually wasn't expecting much from Gardaland, I haven't really been to many parks outside of the UK/US and I don't know why, I just didn't think it would be any good . I was proved wrong, I absolutely loved it! The park was well run, it was clean, there was TONS of stuff to do and we ended up having an awesome time. Everyone going on the Italy trip will have a blast. On to the photos..... TPR meet Gregor, my other half. We were travelling to Gardaland after spending 3 nights in Venice (GORGEOUS). We were on a cool Italian train which had an upstairs, which of course we were on! Here we are at the Gardaland Resort. I would say it's like a basic/mid Disney hotel. My only complaint is that it was full of bugs. I mean there were loads. I got a really nasty bite at reception when we were checking in, so if you stay there bring bug spray! Here was our room. It was luxury compared to the little Venetian style room we had in Venice. So after chilling at the hotel, we decided to head into the park. They had a really good night time offer on, which was less than half the price of normal admission. Park entrance. Excited!! They have loads of shows on throughout the park. We wanted to see 'Museum the Secret' but we suck at Italian! Lol! One of the first things I noticed was that dogs are allowed in the park! As a dog owner, I thought this was awesome. Rollercoaster!!!! First ride was Blue Tornado. Not bad - Certainly not 5 hours. DO NOT RIDE IF YOU HAVE A BROKEN HEART!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! Yep, Vekoma head. Thumbs up for the Vekoma... Haha! Ouch. Seats. So here is Gardaland's version of Frontierland. They have some really cool food places. Fruit at a Theme Park?? Wowza.... Pecos Bill?? Hi Raptor! We'll get to you later.... Criminal Shh.... Gregor the Personal Trainer is eating chips... Don't tell anyone..... Shhh Can I get a hot dog with that ketchup?? Who lives in a Pineapple under the Sea..... Or a big mountain with faces on it. Me and my pal Mr Krabs. Hot. After this picture was taken my Camera ran out of charge.... So on to Day 2 at the Gardaland Resort. Gregor is the king of Gardaland. Not for long!! Yep, I'm representing the USA today. I love how long this makes my legs look. I'm actually tiny lol! I feel like he's shouting 'Surprise!!!' I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before..... Bancomat First up is Gardaland's newest ride. Raptor! Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr... Doesn't it look scary. We loved Raptor! It was smooth with some really good airtime moments. Gross but a good idea lol! Next up was the Flying Island It has some great views of Lake Garda And also of the park! Is this allowed?? Haha! I was really surprised at how well themed the park was. Here is one of the log flumes. This is the reason we didn't ride!! I did not want to wait this long to get wet. This was another thing I loved about this park, people just happily left their stuff lying and no one cared. It was really cool and would never happen in the UK And in the morning I'm making waffles!!! Ramses It's an Egyptian themed dark ride Gregor kicked my ass! Another death trap/Vekoma of the park - Magic Mountain.... Next up was Mamut. The BTM of Gardaland We checked out the Dolphin show. We did not realise that it cost 5 Euro extra and was completely in Italian so we had no clue what was going on. No comment. Night time shot! This was as close as I got to the kiddies section. There wasn't much in there but it looked cute. So this is the end of our trip to Gardaland We ended the night with the buffet back at the hotel. It was amazeballs. Thanks for reading my report
nursemelis374
Great TR! Gardaland was one of my favorite parks on the TPR trip! Loved the Flying Island. Also, cute dress! Glad to see another TPR lady wearing dresses to a park!
gisco
I liked this park and the hotel. A little bit sad that timing didn't work out to go back this year. I found it interesting too that people would just drop their backpacks any where and jump in line. Never in America either unless you want it stolen! Jerrykoala2112
What a great trip report to read! Sounds like you guys had a fun time despite the moderate crowds. I won't be taking the Italy trip this year, but I wish I was! And can I also add that Italians are crazy for waiting in a line like this for a water ride?! Chrissie
Great TR! Gardaland was one of my favorite parks on the TPR trip! Loved the Flying Island. Also, cute dress! Glad to see another TPR lady wearing dresses to a park! Thanks!! I liked this park and the hotel. A little bit sad that timing didn't work out to go back this year. I found it interesting too that people would just drop their backpacks any where and jump in line. Never in America either unless you want it stolen! It's the same in the UK. I couldn't believe it. It was a bit annoying on some rides because people would dump them right at the entrance but all in all I thought it was cool. I loved the Gardaland hotel, I got really drunk there, I'm really sad Im not on the trip this year!Looks like you guys had a blast, oh, also you're boyfriend is hot! Haha!! I LOVE this!! My BF is such a gay icon. Maybe I should be worried? I'm sure you guys will meet on a future TPR trip. What a great trip report to read! Sounds like you guys had a fun time despite the moderate crowds. I won't be taking the Italy trip this year, but I wish I was! And can I also add that Italians are crazy for waiting in a line like this for a water ride?! Thanks Jerry! It was only the water rides that had huge lines. I was really surprised as Raptor which was newly opened only had a 20 min wait. Thanks for reading guys!
RoCo
Great report! Gardaland has always looked like fun, but since they've added Mammut and X-Raptor, this park has moved WAY up on my list of "Gotta" places to visit. And that thing with the backpacks is truly astounding. Viva Italia!
