Hilltopper39
Great coverage again Robb, you guys area really taking this thing to the next level this year! That video from Zierer has me REALLY excited about Verbolten, that drop section looks to be a little more intense and exciting than Thirteen's does. I also wonder how they are going to theme the installation at Legoland so that it looks like you are on a frozen lake instead of on "bridge like" structure. Both attractions should be great, welcome to the big leagues Zierer!
Swimace
^I agree, seeing Zeirer's working prototype in action got me pretty excited! To be fair though, Thirteen's drop was actually more suspenseful and intense than I thought it was gonna be, just the feeling of vertical movement like that on a coaster is a pretty weird sensation! I thought Thirteen was gonna feel more like a "frog hopper" drop, but it was more forceful than that... it was the rest of the ride that was really tame! I wish I could see what Thirteen's drop section looks like without the building around it, just to compare the nerdy stuff. I can't wait to see what Busch Gardens is gonna do with this! Hilltopper39
^Yeah, that prototype just kind of did a single drop in the video, I expect the ride itself might have a multi drop cycle of some type similar to thirteen (I hope so atleast). I still think that Thirteen's problem wasn't the ride itself, it was how they marketed it. If they simply just told people "It's like Big Thunder Mountain with a drop section", that would have been a real win. But instead, they told people it was so intense that old people will most likely die if they ride it. Um, yeah....
robbalvey
Here's a few more IAAPA pics! I'm pretty sure no one minds more pictures of that sexy looking Manta train at Mack Ride's booth! And another angle... Here's a nice butt-shot. Here's a nice front of the car shot. And a wider view. NERD SHOT!!! WhiteWater's booth showing off their HUGE tube design and the see-through tube that is used on the Disney cruise ships. Zamperla's Luna Park display. "World Famous!!!" ABC Rides - These guys are the ones doing the Klotten log flume. Some more pics of Gravity Group's SplinterFx. It's a woodie in a box! Small park, compact woodies seemed to be a trend this year. Maurer showing off some models of the trains at Ferrari World. A close up of those sexy vehicles! Dynamic Attractions sold some motion theaters this year. You're Welcome! Rides 4 U selling some decent looking used attractions. This was... well... SPLASHTACULAR! Do you know who Accesso is? Chances are, if you've bought a theme park ticket online, you probably used one of their systems! TPR loves Lo-Q! Looking forward to more products, and hopefully more parks using the Lo-Q virtual queue systems in 2012! This new product from Wave Loch (The Flowrider people) was really cool! It's basically a half-circle Flowrider where up to 4 people can be surfing at the same time!
FilmoreISnAZN
THOSE MANTA TRAINS! I'm seriously excited for Manta. I think it is going to be a GREAT addition to the park! This, finally, gives me a reason to visit SeaWorld San Diego again!
netdvn
Rasta animals? Rasta animals make everything even more awesome than it already is. Today was a good day to feel under the weather. I feel slightly better seeing all the cool footage. Splinter FX looks pretty cool too.
cal1br3tto
^^SeaWorld San Diego was fine for a couple visits as it is, but it will definitely be Manta that brings me back again.
DJeXeL
^Agreed. It's one of the more beautifully landscaped parks I've ever been to. All of the Busch Parks are beautifully landscaped for that matter!
ScottBrown
I am getting very excited for Manta - I want to ride it just to sit in those trains
Jew
Did you notice if the Sartori booth still have a picture of their rotating seats drop tower concept? I saw that when IAAPA was in Vegas a few years ago and thought it seemed like a cool concept!

It was pretty vacant.
coasterfreak101
I'm curious to see if White Water (I think it's their product) sells any of their tube-within-a-tube designs. I think that would be something a park could market really well, and it'd look awesome with those clear tubes! And I think we could fill up pages with pictures of that Manta car... ScottBrown
I agree I would like to have a Manta car in my living room who the hell needs a couch when you can have one of those beauties
A.J.
The seats are quite comfortable, but I don't think I'd mount them that high if I put them in a living room. I have really long legs and my feet still didn't touch the floor of the train!

robbalvey
Another IAAPA video! More photos!!!! Here is our final installment of our video coverage. In this video we interview Vekoma, WhiteWater, Maurer Söhne, and I ride some crazy-ass Moser spinning flat ride of death! Check it out... More photos from Hanno! Sally had these awesome "movie posters" for their dark rides! Some really cool ones in here! It was confirmed by Sally - you are "calling" the turkeys....with a "gun".... yes, a "gun." More dark ride movie posters! Seriously, I want one for my house!!! This one hurts a little to see, not because Hard Rock Park was a good park, but because this was seriously the most "WTF" dark ride ever made, only *slightly* beating out North Pole Adventure. It was honestly amazing. The old man was back. He was showing off a possible design for a dark ride. This is a layout for a "Power Blast" dark ride. These models are really cool! When you purchase a Sally Corp dark ride, it comes complete with a ride operator! Bargain!!! A set from one of their Legoland dark rides. A version of Legoland's Lost Kingdom Adventure just recently opened at Legoland Florida. And our favourite part about Sally? They have TPR videos on display at their booth! The guys at WhiteWater are always impressing me with their designs. While I hear the AquaDuck is more of a "lazy river" than a thrilling slide, I'm actually really anxious to ride it next year as being on a ride like that on the top deck of a cruise ship must be cool! And yes, WhiteWater has a partnership deal with Wave Loch, and hopefully together they can sell more Flowriders! Prime Play makes ropes courses and other kinds of "discovery center" type of attractions. They had a cool looking model! Gerstlauer also had a couple of models on display. This is a model of the flat ride from Belantis, and "rumor" has it that Mall of America is getting a ride that is similar to this, but a different model. We'll see if that actually happens! And we'll wrap up Hanno's photos by taking one more look at S&S. I'd say that the Green Lantern and Manta cars need to go head to head in a battle for the most sexiest looking equipment on the show floor! NERD SHOT!!!! Another look at the 4-across seating setup. And a closer look at the restraints. Another NERD SHOT!!! And finally, Hanno takes a picture of Hanno's photo on display, all lit up, in the S&S booth! It's great to see so much TPR produced material represented all over show!

chadster
The road wheels on the green lantern car look as if they have a larger footprint vs Vekoma/B&M/Intamin. Was that the case or did you even pay attention?
