Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten finally gets his log-flume...

Recommended Posts

Haven`t found a thread about Klotten or the new log flume so i started one.

The little german park "Wild- & Freizeitpark Klotten" started to built their second big attraction, after many years of waiting time. It will be an ABC flume and like the marketing says it will be the highest, steepest and fastest logflume in germany and if i remember right it will have an elevator as lift! Together with the log flume the park finally started to theme "die heiße Fahrt" (i know you like this little gem). The first plans to build it like a vulcan were thrown to waste and now they will theme it like a castle!

This seems kind of like Marineland with Dragon Mountain. Only one façade went up years after it opened, and nothing more has been done with it since.

Good to see Klotten finish up this project. It looks like a great park, and the new flume should make a great fit.

Woah, they really switched up the plans compared to what they had in 2007.

While volcanoes are cool and all, I'm very intrigued by the lift in the castle tower and the interaction with the castle from the flume and coaster. And it's just great to see a new log flume being built and a small park expanding, definitely something I'll be watching closely.

Is that some kind of drop tower rising out of the castle in the first concept art picture? It kind of looks like one of those human powered towers like at Dollywood and some other places. This looks great, another amazingly awesome themed attraction in Europe, I know it's all about $$$ but why can't american parks figure it out?

This is awesome news! I'm really curious to see what kind of flume it is. The new advertisement says "Germany's tallest, steepest, and fastest water ride!" How are they going to fit that in that little space??? I think the "Boobies Flume" ride at Tripsdrill is probably the highest in Germany at the moment and in my head, I don't feel like the structure at Klotten was taller than that... but my mind plays tricks on me. What does anyone else think? It also says that it will only have 4 boats and a capacity of 390 ppl/hr? That makes me think it will be more like a splash boat ride and less like a log-flume. Regardless, it's awesome that they are finally finishing it up!

^^^ i think it won`t be a big flume like in tripsdrill! Just a short one with an elevator (and i hope a short darkride section in the castle before it ), then the big drop and then a short turn around back to station... maybe they add some nice theming elements during the ride. But what seems to make it necessary to change the theming is the height of the lift and the drop... Its much higher than their first plans, where the flume starts under the lifthill of the coaster. Now with a height of 25 meters is about 7 meter higher than the coaster with 17.5 meter. So i think they decided to take a castle to hide the high elevator and get a good adequate theming that fits to the park.

Hmmm...I don`t get it. Germany`s tallest Waterride ??? Well...probably this thing will be great, but bigger than Atlantica Supersplash at Europapark ? The stats say it will be app. 25 Meters high, while A.S. is about 30 Meters high...and I guess the footprint is bigger, too.

Anyway...GREAT news to have another major attraction there !

^ it´s really just about the type of the ride! there are many higher super splash rides or watercoasters ... It`s just that it really is the highest oldschool log flume in germany It´s like everytime.... the marketing uses every aspect to push the attraction into the peoples mind

I forgot about Atlantica Supersplash! That is definitely taller than the bathtub boobies log flume at Tripsdrill.

Oh sorry...I totally forgot that this is TPR and that I`m not allowed to look at things critically

Sure, you are allowed to look at things critically on TPR, but that isn't what you are doing. You are obsessing over a pointless detail that could very well just be a misinterpretation. Please drop it.

Please, you do nothing but try to create drama with your odd views of German rides. Either get over it or go post somewhere else.

This is a log flume at Klotten, do you really want to leave the site based on that?!

another intresting point i read about is, that the logflume will have a first little pre-drop and then goes over the the hill with much more speed! On one german coaster-page they even call it airtime hill.... i found there to a bigger pic of the artwork which shows better the little pre-drop:

  • 2 months later...

Last week I made a short stop at Klotten on my way home to take a picture of the new waterride.

It looks very impressive and steep. I don't think that they will start with the theming this year.

Greetings, Matthias
