DougMJr
I know that this is almost two months old, I have just been busy... But I feel now is as good of time as ever to post this TR. Especially because those of you going on LeviaTHON will be visiting Darien Lake. We got to the park around 11 because my sister can't get up early, no matter what. It was my sister, her friend, my friend Alissa, and I. Lines were relatively short, had a lot of walk-ons. In fact, we were so busy riding that I struggled not to slow down the group with my picture-taking. Alas, I had brought the camera so might as well use it. Enjoy. On our way in, mind eraser to the right. Splashtown to the left. "Come on Doug, we're not all nerds like you." - Alissa Darien Lake can look very nice, at times. Not the nicest theming, but for the most part nice to look at. First up, we hit the park's wave swinger. Appropriately named lasso. Next up, Boomerang. Unlike other Vekoma Bomerangs... I didn't find it to be too rough. Next up on our first lap around the park, OCC Motocoaster. The first couple seconds of this ride is pretty cool. Then it's kinda... meh, but fun. Happy riders! Next up, it was The Twister. a.k.a. The Sterilizer. Next up, Viper. The first coaster with 5 inversions. On the way there, I noticed these. I was going to take one to scan at home, but didn't want to take one away from someone who would possibly need it. The oldest, and today the best coaster in the park. R.I.P Ron Toomer. Through the loop! After viper, one of my favorites. The Huss Ranger. The lap bars are surprisingly comfortable, although they do have to staple you to the seat. Next, we stopped in and played fascination. 10 minutes and 4 dollars later I had a small Angry Bird. If you have a small child, you can get this credit. Next up... The Ouch! Ouch! Owweee! Coaster Why do I do this to myself? Happy Riders? It looks so pretty for the queue. Oh, wait... is this Mind Eraser, or Parking Lot: The Ride. Minds about to be Erased. Minds Being Erased. Next up, Big Wheel. Fun fact, this Ferris wheel was originally showcased at the 1982 World's Fair. Boomerang across the Lake. OCC Moto, about to launch. OCC Moto, about to... "meh." RoS: "I'm stuck, please let me down!" But more of that later. Predator running the trains it picked up from Holiday World, hopefully the Voyage gets its timberliners soon. The new trains almost make the ride bearable... almost. Boomerang, doin' its thang. 'Cuda falls, re-painted during the Splashtown Expansion last year. Viper, exiting its tunnel. I recommend that EVERYONE does a skycoaster at least once a year. You'll know why once you do it. So long, big wheel. Ok, now to address this. When I was there, the train was still stuck on the lift. Something is missing here... This is one of the cranes, or lifts. A couple more shots of Predator This hill jostles you a LOT! The plants have definitely improved in the last couple years. Above the trees! My sister and her friend wanted to take a quick ride on Shipwreck falls before it closed for the day. Down they go! Still, my favorite water ride has to be the log flume. The kiddy area is the best landscaped part of the park. And I leave you with this, hmmm... what's that still doing there?
DiSab
Nice pics, but I have to ask - what the hell is with the half-and-half support colors on the Motocoaster? It looks like someone got lazy at the paint factory.
beatle11
Nice TR Doug. Cuda Falls looks really good with it's new colors. Predator being almost bearable is still an improvement. Still the worst ride I've ever had.
DougMJr
Nice pics, but I have to ask - what the hell is with the half-and-half support colors on the Motocoaster? It looks like someone got lazy at the paint factory. I agree. Not sure what Zamperla was thinking there. The Motocoaster at Darien Lake is actually a re-location of sorts. The coaster is actually the prototype set up at Zamperla's plant in Italy and then sold to Darien Lake, so I don't think Darien Lake had a say in color selection. beatle11
^ It's kinda weird, but I guess it's not really a big deal. They could repaint over it.
WFChris
I noticed that the accessibility maps had a QR code on them...did you scan that? Maybe it's to a super secret extremely accessible website!
cal1br3tto
The coaster collection at this park kind of makes me afraid to visit, even though Predator at least looks beautiful, as people often point out. But at least it seems to have some interesting flat rides, plus my favorite game, Fascination!
DougMJr
^While the coaster selection isn't spectacular... There are a few gems. RoS is always a pretty great ride especially in the front and back. Boomerang isn't particularly painful. And Viper, aside from the Batwing, doesn't rattle your head too much. I agree we have some decent flat rides, my favorites being UFO, Twister, & Silver bullet.
